Any other UK visitor worried about Construction at AKL

We've booked to go to AKL for 2 weeks in November through Virgin so really not in a position to change resort. I'm getting really worried about what I'm reading about the construction. Part of me thinks it won't really effect us because we're only in a standard room and also plan to be out of the hotel all day, coming back to change in the evening and then out again at night. My DD is 6 so won't be having afternoon naps (she can keep going longer than me!!). If we are at the hotel no doubt we will be in the pool area and not sitting in our room! Then the other part of me is worried because I'm now reading things about the lobby being renovated etc. Just wondered if anybody else feels the same as I do? :confused3

Well I was planning to stay there next May but have changed my plans because of the work - but to be honest we were planning on a savannah view room and spending alot of time in the hotel because we will have two children under 5. So it will make a big difference to us.

From what you've said, it sounds as though you will just be using it as a base to sleep and I'm sure it will be fine at night. I'm sure whatever you decide you will have a great time, its just for me I was going for the hotel experience rather than just a place to lay my head and that was why i'm no longer staying there.

I hope that helps a little!!

We spent the day there the Wednesday before last sitting in the public savanna areas and although we could hear a bit of drilling and banging we couldn't really see any construction going on. I would imagine if you are in a standard room and won't be in the hotel during the day it really won't affect you at all, although I don't know what the plans are for the lobby.

I don't recall hearing any noise as we walked through the pool area and when we were sitting in Mara so I think you will be fine there.

I would have thought Disney would be doing as much as possible to keep the noise and disruption to a minimum for their guests. The company does try to keep the public happy.

As you say you are only using the hotel as a place to sleep so I would imagine you wouldn't be too disrupted because work would finish at teatime I would have thought. Work is going on in the Royal Pacific when we go but I have kept the booking.:)

:thumbsup2 I think they are building some new Disney Vacation Club villas or something at AKL which will mean a great deal of construction going on.They will try their best not to inconvenience the guests staying close by, we can't have lots of lovely rooms without having to expand to accomodate everyone.. it seems that DVC is very popular at the moment.

It's not the only place on WDW where property is being built either there's gonna be more hotels near by on the road close to the Reedy Creek Fire House too up to the SR535 (the road junctions have already been altered) and also on the west side of WDW, I've been reading about it over the last couple of weeks on www.orlandosentinel.com the plans look great.

You can always ring them direct at AKL front desk 001 407 938 3000.
