I won't be able to go back until the end of August at the earliest - and I'm going to have to figure out public transportation to get there with gas prices rising so quickly!

So I'm in withdrawal. I went for DS's birthday on the 3rd, but he was kind of a nightmare and it was a disappointing visit. And my last one until (almost) fall.

I've never done more than 3 days at DLR at a time, and even that was unusual for me. All my trips are day trips, so I don't ever feel like I've gotten my fill of DLR, kwim?

Good question! :goodvibes

I thought we could snag a visit and I could limp my way through the 5K, but of course we're blocked out from that.

We've definitely gotten our money's worth from the APs this year, so there's a small idea of just relaxing and not worrying about going again before the year is up...seems a bit crazy, but there are other things we want to do, and alas, money isn't endless. Weird, eh? If there were some good campsites near Disneyland we could combine a trip with our urge to camp, but I can't find anything for tent camping that would be pretty like we can find up here.

On the other hand, every other morning now Eamon wakes up and asks if we can go to Disneyland "today". :cool2: If only it were that easy, little buddy.

Anyway, I feel for you. I can't quite imagine being so close but not able to go!

San Diego Old Town (OLT) to Anaheim (ANA) $42 round trip on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner. If I lived in Cali I'd be going atleast once every month!

Wanna carpool? My Ap's expired June 3 (my DD's bday), and we haven't renewed again until we decide when we are going again. I think not until the end of August too.

We usually day trip as well, but the last year I got to do 4 overnights. Woo Hoo for me. May, December, and then twice this spring, one on the girls only trip!!

Just knowing that my AP is expired kind of hurts my heart!!! I would not go in high summer anyway since I am used to low crowd levels, but knowing I can't stings!!!

I had a moment of silence the day we expired!!!! :(

Ugh - it's still cheaper for me to drive, especially with the little one in tow.

We don't mind the summer break. It is very crowded and very hot!

I want to go to DLR so bad but with the gas prices I am to freaked out to drive down since its about a 3 hour drive round trip. Thank Goodness my car gets ok gas mileage though. I really need to go!

With Amtrak, if you're a member of AAA and you buy the tickets in advance, you can get a 10% discount, and if you have a child with you, don't forget to get the discount for them by choosing "AAA Child" from the drop down menu. :)

Alison, the move itself was ghastly. We spent more than $500 that we did NOT expect, thanks to getting sick before the Disneyland trip. Everything should have been packed and READY when we got back, but b/c of the illness it was not, and we had to hire last minute movers to get the big stuff over, and we only had a couple hours on a rental truck (total scam at UHaul, said she had to have the truck back in x number of hours, when hubby returned it just under the time limit she had tons of that same truck just sitting there) and we got barely anything moved that day. Rental truck and spendy boxes, 2 hours of movers called that day, and FOUR days of pro-rated rent on our OLD place. UGH. And we had to ask R's friend (the only friend who helps us move anymore) to help twice, and now we owe him the universe b/c he went against his oft-stated rule that he Does Not Pack. He was the BEST and we owe him (his newish girlfriend is so angry with us!) big time.

But now that we're here, it's lovely! It's big enough with *useful* storage space. I find myself with the lovely, but still difficult, questions like "what normally goes in an entry hall closet? What would be useful to be in there?" Which is quite a difference from "how on earth am I going to shove our coats in this cubby, and where is the camping equipment supposed to go without renting a storage space???"

:goodvibes

If anyone's ever in Tacoma, we'll soon be ready for visitors! :)

Oh, and you asked about a future trip. Hubby doesn't know about this, but I discovered that there's a random 3 weekend days in August that are oddly not blocked for Deluxe (sorry to rub that in  ). One is our anniversary day (day and date!) but that's going to be spent up here b/c it's also the day of Amazon's big summer party and we haven't been to one since 2002 when I quit Amazon (hubby had been laid off the year before), so we are sooooo going. But the following weekend seems interesting. Looks like E is already growing taller, and the "get taller for Grizzly Rabbit" as he says nutrition plan is very healthy, so it's possible we could go at that time. Keep fingers crossed!

And then you could plunk for a blockout pass down and join us. :goodvibes

Well, for us it isn't so much the gas as it is the crowds. Tourist season is officially here! We were there yesterday and OMG! was it crowded. We were there from 5pm till midnight. We were literally trapped in NOS. We rode the HM 3 times, POC, , the Jungle Cruise, the train, ate at RBT(it was okay, not great) for dinner around 6pm and had hot dogs at the end of the night at Coke Corner. Between Fantasmic twice and Dreams Fireworks we could not get out of NOS. All the lines were at least 90 min long. So, yesterday was our last day until at least the end of August. And it was HOT! This may be a little :offtopic: , but when we were on Pirates, there were 2 TEENAGER girls behind us that were completely oblivious that they were on a ride, they were playing some game , went down the 2 water falls, still playing the game, passed the room of riches still playing the game. So finally Dfi turned around and told them to stop!! They stopped, thank fully. but really??? you are on a ride and not alone come on!! So, time for this AP-er to hand the reigns over to all the wonderful tourists coming to visit DL, you can have our place in line, have a great time!;)

even with child prices on amtrack it is cheaper to haul my vanload of kids and clothes up there. . . however, like someone said, it is tourist season, i'll wait till sept!:rotfl2:

I am planning on our last trip Mon-Wed of next week. We are going to camp at a place close by. I figure we can come and go and enjoy the pool. We were there on Fathers day and it was not as crowded as I thought it would be. Mothers day was more crowded!

We only live about 40mins away and we have gotten a lot of use out of our passes that we just got in April!

I don't really enjoy Disneyland as much when it is super hot and the summer crowds are there.

I know what you mean about AP with drawls. But I would never go anywhere near DL right now. I would rather wait the 2 months and enjoy lower crowds. Especially with a 2 year old...it annoys both of us if a lot of people are there. I don't mind it so much if it's just me and my sis, but forget it with a young one.

I think we are planning a "Get on Toy Story Mania if it kills us" trip for September. Then we plan on going at least 3 or 4 more times before AP's expire in December. Not renewing... :(

Gas is insaaaaane.....
