I have a silly question.

Is it possible to get pregnant the week before AF is due? Would I still get AF?

My cycle is irregular (I don't always have AF each month). Anyway the first day of AF last month was 09/12. I am starting to get symptoms of her coming, but when BD earlier this week.

I guess technically it could be possible, but it all depends on when/if you ovulated. And if you are pg, you wouldn't get "AF" per se, although you still could experience some bleeding or spotting.

You're Welcome. I had been told about the gas, but when I didn't feel it the evening of the surgery I thought "shew, I didn't get that after all". WRONG It hit me while I was sleeping. My arms were so heavy that I felt like I had been boxing all day and had weights attached to them.

Other things that helped:

  • LOTS OF PILLOWS. I slept at an upright angle for two nights b/c laying flat hurt and sitting up hurt. DH slept on the couch and I took the whole bed. It was nice to be right in the middle.

  • Either a cell phone or a walkie talkie. Because of the pain meds you will be loopy and very wobbly on your feet. It's good to have a cell phone or walkie talkie beside you. That way when you need something or have to use the bathroom you can call DH to come help :teeth: Believe me...I used that phone to my advantage.

  • Books and movies. You're not going to want to get up and there will be nothing on tv to watch. So stock up on a couple of good books or rent a few movies. I think I watched 6 movies that weekend :)

I second all of these suggestions. The gas was so terrible, and everytime I moved an inch, it felt like every organ in my body was rolling around inside me. It was so uncomfortable, I also slept upright for the first couple nights. And I think I watched the entire first 2 seasons of Friends on DVD!

I am another one that dreams about taking my children to WDW some day. I actually get a little teary-eyed watching the WDW commercials and imagining it as my children. :teeth:

Ash - I also felt so PMSy the week before I found out I was pg. I was so convinced that it didn't happen, b/c of my travel schedule we were only able to BD once and I wasn't charting. I was out of town, when my DH told me his little brother's 18 year old gf was pg, and I just burst into tears. I was so upset. How unfair is it that 2 kids that don't want a baby get pg without trying, and we want one but aren't pg. Little did I know I was already pg at that time. :goodvibes

Sending some Baby Dust your way, and for everyone else on the thread! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

It seems like my family has had its share of cancer issues. My mom and three of her sisters have had breast cancer. :sad2:

I am 11dpo, but feel really crampy and my joints are achy.

So sorry about your family :grouphug:

We have had all kinds of issues with cancer as well. My Uncle and Grandma passed away from cancer, my Dad fought off Hodgkins and has boughts with B-cell lymphoma, my other Uncle has lung cancer which spread to his brain and my Aunt has had ovarian cancer twice.

So hang in there and if you need to talk to someone who completely understands just PM me.

DH's mom and dad died of cancer, as well. :grouphug: I'm sorry to everyone else who has lost a family member or who has a family member suffering from the disease. :grouphug:

Ash, I had achy joints at the beginning, too. Knees, hands....now, it's more like ligament pains. In my toes mainly. No idea why the toes on my left foot would suddenly start to hurt, but I figure there will be some strange things happening to the body so I shouldn't question it.

I had my 3rd and final beta today. It was 20,000. :thumbsup2 My progesterone is 141. :cheer2: I had a little panic attack in the shower this morning (either that or it was morning sickness). I've been having these crampy feelings...not quite crampy....more like pulled muscles. I have a terrible cough and sometimes I feel like I'm tearing things and now there is a dull ache in my lower abdomen. So, of course I show up to the RE's office practically in tears - I have some strange pain and I almost passed out in the shower with nobody but my female cat to get me help. This cat can't even meow. She just says, "Meet! Meet!" My RE reassured me things were probably fine - as long as there wasn't any bad pain or bleeding, I shouldn't worry. Ya....OK!!! I guess I'm not too bad though. Apparently she has another patient who also got pregnant from IVF who got her BFP the same day as me. Her DH called the RE and said his DW is freaking out over every cramp and is there something he can do to calm her down? :rotfl:

I find out tomorrow when my u/s is. I'll feel better when I see things are going normally in there. Then, I can just deal with my crazy pulled muscle feeling and stop worrying about everything.

So, is anyone going to be testing soon? :sunny:

Hi y'all! I know it has been a few days. We had issues with the kitten. She was marking everywhere. She wanted to be "alpha cat" and wouldn't have it any other way. Since we can't have our house smell of cat pee... she went back home to the original owner :( It was heartbreaking for me, though when she peed on my shoes right after I saw her go potty, I knew that was it!

:grouphug: for all those who have been affected by cancer. I lost my mom almost 14 years ago to cervical cancer... not a fun thing at all.

I have been reading here, but haven't had much time to post.

Kristy, I know you can do it with the 25 pounds! If it is too hard to lose the weight, change how you are trying. Once you get in a groove it serously becomes so easy. The hard part is finding what works IMO. Once I got past my frist two weeks of 1200 calories, I was home free.

As for PMS/pregnancy symptoms... they felt the same to me as well. My breasts always get sore before my period, though they were ultra sensitive (nipples very much so). I didn't get my usual week before cramps that I had, but the day before I would have been due, I had some cramping/pulling. I also had a sore tailbone area (no clue why) and of course was super tired. Peeing a bit more than usual too. So I swore I was getting AF, and she never showed up. Actually I was feeling it was a joke at first when I saw a BFP.

Carla, I hope you can relax some about the cramping. I do have some of that, but it seems to have gone down quite a bit in this last week. I do have muscle pulls I feel now, but all the AF type cramps (I had those for two weeks off and on) are done it seems. So I am sure you can imagine how I felt when I had cramping and bleeding  Yay for the good numbers!! I hope you won't have to wait long for the u/s.

I think I need to go to sleep... I'm just dead tired. I had a bad night due to food. I probaby would've felt better if I actually got sick, but I am not one who actually does that easily. So I laid in pain all night and hardly got sleep. So no real morning sickness here. Just a lot of food aversions. I'm on a beige diet and it seems to be doing well. If I don't eat enough, I do feel sick, but that is easy for me to fix. I am noticing car sickness to a small extent, but fortunately I don't have to ride in a car much. I will be taking dramamine when I fly in a week just in case ;)

How are the 2ww's doing? I hope we have some BFP soon!

Just want to pop in for a quick 'congrats' to all the new BFPs!!! Carla, do not worry at all about that 'pulled muscle' pain. I can tell you from experience that it is very common in a normal pregnancy. I remember many times, especially when I was pg with my youngest DD, it hurt so bad I could swear it felt like my uterus was detaching. It is scary, but completely normal!

I went through the pulled muscle feeling too, and occassional weird twinges (and now it's definitely more of an annoyance since I'm actually expanding). I don't know why- maybe your body just has to gear up for all the stretching its about to do!

Carla- it'll be so exciting to see what you've got cooking!!! I am so glad to hear your numbers look good! :woohoo: STICKY BABY THOUGHTS!!

Elaine- I hope you don't have any issues with morning sickness. I believe I had enough for ALL of us, so you should be good. ;)

I agree, Carla. Once I found out I was pregnant with DS, for the first few weeks I could just tell that "something" was going on in there.

It's so encouraging to hear about all you BFP's! I love reading about how you are doing - and I can't wait to join you! :woohoo:

Well, DH and I had ANOTHER talk about TTC last night, and he's said that while he's ready to stop using BC (sponge & condoms for us, so no BCP "get it out of my system" wait), he's NOT ready to be timing the BD or trying to BD more frequently at any time of the month. :sad2: Sigh. I'm really trying to be patient with him, but I also want a baby NOW. I don't want to wait another year for that BFP. I'm tired of putting this on hold and waiting for him to be ready, but I also don't want to bring a baby into the world with him if he doesn't want it. I need him on board with me, so I'm trying to go at his pace. I guess I'll just have to pay attention to my charting signs and work on my seduction skills around O time. puckerup: Unfortunately, I'm irregular and so there's usually a 10 day window of when I could be O'ing! I think I'd wear poor DH out...his heart might not take it! :rotfl:

You could always just walk by naked...that should get him going whenever you want to BD ;)

ImarriedGrumpy- just do not tell him ANYTHING about your cycle. If you just *happen* to be in the mood a lot around O time, can you help it? I think not.

:rotfl2: Actually, it's my brown string bikini that I got for private sunbathing that he really likes....hmmm...maybe I'll just have to be doing my housework in a bikini for the O week!

Unfortunately, DH has some health issues that require medication that affects his interest level, so there's no every-other day BD for us. And he'd be completely horrified to have me posting this here...he feels awful enough about it and always says "I'm an old man...". There's not much the Drs. can do right now about it until some of the health things get resolved, but we have hope that he'll be able to get off at least the most problematic of the meds within the year.

So we'll see... sometimes it seems like things are stacked against us just getting started with TTC, and I start wondering how many problems we're going to have in this process...

The CBE Fertility Monitor is great. Pricey, but you can re-use it to have other kids. I think it's $250. for the monitor and then $30. for 30 test sticks. I loved mine. Really accurate, even when I was on Clomid.

I took 1 Tylenol for my pulled muscles and I feel like a new person! No more "cramps" that weren't really cramps apparently. Last night, the pain was all in my back and down my legs. I gave in and took the Tylenol and it was so worth it. I feel much better and much more relaxed. :goodvibes I also appreciate everyone telling me they had the same thing....it's either normal, or we're all REALLY abnormal. :)

I am new to this thread but having been lurking around for quite awhile. I have a question for all you 'in-the-know' ladies. A little history about me - I am 37 (advanced maternal age, I know  ) have 2 dds and had a miscarriage of a much wanted baby last Fall. My husband and I quit ttc after that. Guess I wasn't ready then but I sure am now!! Anyways, back to my question - I feel like I am ovulating late in my cycle. I should be starting my period in 6-7 days yet feel because of ewcm that I could be ovulating now. I have used those ovulation kits but I can never seem to get them to work for me?? So, how late is too late to ovulate in your cycle and still get pregnant? I cannot seem to find much info about that question on the net.
Well, thank you for listening to me ramble on... Congrats to all who are pregnant now. I always get so excited when I see a newly pregnant mom join this thread! :goodvibes

Our 2 princesses- did you use the ovulation kit the whole month? You may need to try that, just to get an idea as to when you ovulate. It varies for everyone.

Same old news here. I have been using one this week. and today it showed up with the 2 lines equally dark, which means ovulation could occur within the next 24 hours. We bd last night, tonight I'm working of course  , then we can bd tomorrow night. Do you think I'm losing my chance tonight? I'm getting really aggravated! In for another LONG tww!

our 2 princesses: I know women can ovulate late in their cycle - it varies for everyone. But, I think no matter when you ovulate, you will get AF about 14 days after. So, ovulating late may mean a longer cycle and later period - but it could happen. I could be wrong....but remember reading this somewhere!

Kelly - I think you are good even though you can't bd tonight! Sperm can live for a while in your body - so those swimmers from last night could do the job tonight even though you didn't bd. And then you will have tomorrow night to bd - so I think you still have a good chance!

So....update on me....another 97.3 for me this morning. Where is my temp spike? I am waiting to o!!

We didn't actually BD the day I ovulated, so I think as long as you catch the day before and the day after, you should be fine- I was!
