Welcome, Mandy.
I hope you have an easier time with your next birth.
My insurance says 48 hours for regular birth and 96 hours for a c-section. If I choose to leave earlier, they'll send a nurse to my house to check on me. My hospital has 14 private rooms and 2 semi-private rooms that they only use if the 14 privates are full. I'd probably stay if I was in a private room. If not, I'm likely to leave ASAP. I won't sleep anyway with someone else in the room. They have 24 hour lactation consultants and my insurance will pay for it in the hospital or at home (but not both). So, if I have problems when I get home, I can call or go to the hospital, but if I've seen them in the hospital before I went home, they won't pay for them to come to my house. I don't think they'd come anyway since I'm over an hour and a half away from my hospital. I'd probably see someone in the hospital and then find someone closer in the event I had an emergency and needed to see someone to fix a problem that couldn't be fixed over the phone. Not sure what sort of "emergency" would require a meeting with a lactation consultant, but you never know.
Is everyone back to work today? I came in at 5:30am. DH drove me in so I didn't have to drive myself. I have NO PATIENCE in my car anymore.
