2025 Wine and Dine

Merch was bad in general. It felt like they just slapped on the race logos to everything. The words I’d use are “phoned in.” If you told me they were in a transition between designers and encouraged the new person to focus on Marathon because Wine and Dine was going to get what an intern made, I’d believe you. Last year’s was worlds better.

Said this when they first announced the themes but I just didn’t think this was their best effort theme wise. DL took the villains theme for Halloween so I dunno, maybe they ran out of creative juices with six races on the calendar?

I wouldn’t be surprised if they go back to villains next year, since DL isn’t happening. They had some good themes based on W&D though, IIRC one year they had a cute Mickey challenge medal, another I think they did the Three Caballeros at Mexico?

Both those were for the 10th anniversary (well of the 5k/half anyway) and definitely was one of my favorite medal years

Was Mando in GE? Going to have to be aware, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s also there at Springtime Surprise.

That's where he was earlier this year, either MW or SS. Early in GE, way off to the side where you can't see him or the line. On the one hand, it makes sense to have him away from the course because the line probably gets nuts, but on the other hand, they need to have a CM with a big flashing arrow (or a lightsaber )

Mando was indeed in Galaxy's Edge at Springtime Surprise. One of the two photo stops I made for that race, the other being Mr I himself. Both of them had 10-15 minute lines, maybe a little longer. Either way, I wanted those photos.

I will say if the mesh trend continues, I’ll save a lot of money at Princess. I’m watching for Marathon Weeknd merch because if there’s mesh again, we know it’s here to stay for a bit.

I really only want tank tops. I loved the racerback ones from MW last year. I wasn’t a huge fan of the spaghetti straps from W&D, so I’ll be bummed if that continues.

My challenge races were fun. No crowding, didn't mind the BB tour (roller skating was entertaining), and finished the half before the sun came up. Weather was nice, PR'd my 10k by a good 90 seconds and that was with some stops and potty break. Paced with a friend on the half and got lots of super cute photos.

Question for the masses - the merch... was it side eye worthy, the new runDisney merch included? I went to the expo twice Thursday and late afternoon on Friday and saw a lot of merch still there. Maybe mesh isn't the trend they thought it was going to be? Also the rD tracksuit looking like something from a 1998 Winter Olympics. I feel like the merch should be the easiest thing to get right and they keep missing the mark, imo.

DW and I both had so much fun! The race was fantastic with so many wonderful volunteers. The only meh was the merch with exception of the black zip up. That was fairly solid. The wine glasses were cool just nervous about the luggage part. The after party was fun as always. Weather was a bit hot for racing but top notch for being outside.
