Welcome to the thread Mommybryn!! Where are you located? I am in Meridian, ID nice to see someone from my neck of the woods.

I'm originally from Weiser, but across the border in Oregon now. :) I went to school at BSU, though. I love finding others from this area...seems like there are so few of us! :)

MommyBryn, my good friend was BFing and got pregnant when her son was 7 months. She said once they start to blend in some solids, it gets easier. :) She also said if she had to do it again, she would have tried sooner or later, but her DS is about 15 months now and she's over 30 weeks and all of a sudden, she says he's a lot of work. She says she would have preferred to do it sooner...before her DS got fast on his feet!

We all what I'm doing to conceive faster. :rotfl:

I had my first blood draw today. Thankfully, my RE doesn't do u/s until later because AF is here and I hate, hate, hate those u/s with AF. Blech. My E2 was 141, so I have to go back tomorrow for blood again.

The DIS is going to be an interesting place since there are going to be a LOT of pregnant people on here all of a sudden! :teeth:

Pardon my ignorance, Carla- but what does E2 mean? Why do you have to go back?

(I am learning so much from you, by the way!)

Hear Hear Carla Those u/s with af suck but al least in my practice it is a woman giving the u/s. I don't know what I would do if it was a man. My old gyn was a man and he was a great doctor--very caring and up to date. I now have a woman doc and I also like her alot but not as much as my old gyn.

LOL...good to know! I'm afraid mine is going to be walking early...and when I say I'm afraid, I really mean I'm afraid!! :bitelip:

4 women in my family all got pregnant before 5 months PP while they were EBF'ing. SO at least I'm close to passing that point. LOL

LisaB- go to www.twoweekwait.com and click on "ttc lingo dictionary" - it has all the abbreviations.

I broke down and went to the Dollar Tree today. I bought 5 HPTs. I told myself I was going to wait to test until 14 dpo, but who am I kidding? :rotfl:

Ugh. I just hope all goes well. I really DO think June is our lucky month- just look at all the good news so far!! Positive thinking, girls!!

I don't know if this has been asked yet...I haven't been keeping up with this thread too much lately since we moved last weekend!

I went for my annual exam today and talked to my dr about TTC. When I decide to get off of the pill, I just need to wait for one regular period before TTC. I think we want another summer baby since DH is a teacher, so we have a few more months before we start trying for the "ideal" due date. My dr said that once I get off the pills that I should start taking a OTC prenatal vitamin (she'll prescribe one after I get pregnant). Can anyone recommend one? Thanks!

skuttle- OTC prenatals made me  I threw them up every day. I know wal-mart has a generic, and I see ads/coupons for Stuart brand all the time in my pregnancy magazines (actually- there's a $5 off coupon in this month's Fit Pregnancy).

Other than that- I don't see many prenatals that aren't Rx. Just heads up though- there are TONS of Rx prenatals, so if the OTCs make you sick, call and ask for something else.

I'm taking Natelle Prefer prenatals, and they haven't made me sick at all.

I've never taken Rx prenatals, only OTC, for 1.5 years TTC, my pregnancy, and now. Unless you need a certain amount of specific ingredients (like less iron, for example), you can take pretty much any brand as long as you get at least 800mcg of folic acid (400 is okay but 800 is prefferable). Rx prenates odten have 1mg.

I take OneSource from WM. They're the smallest pre-natals I've found, but you have to take 2/day.

Thanks for the advice. I wanted to hear what others had to say re getting sick. The Rx prenatals I had during my first pregnancy never bothered me. I hope I have the same luck with the otc.

Hi, I take the Target prenatal vitamins. The bottle says to compare them to the Stuart prenatal vitamins. They've never made me sick, so I figure I'll stick with those.

They have 800 mcg folic acid, and the Vitamin A is the non-harmful kind.

Hey everyone...i originally posted this on the Community Board, but AllyandJack suggested i post it here...thanks for that!!

Hey everyone...I posted previously that DH & I will be starting our family this year I was going to go off the pill in September & we were going to start trying during our trip to WDW from 9/30 to 10/7...however, we've talked about it and we've decided to go off the pill next month (July) to give my body time to adjust (i've been on the pill for 10 years), and we will be trying while in Disney. I am so excited!!!! I just wanted to get some input of how other people dealt with going off the pill and how it effected their monthly "friend"...any input would be greatly appreciated...thanks

Any help you guys could give would be great! thanks

I can't swallow any sort of big pill, so my OB/GYN and my RE have me taking Centrum Chewable multi-vitamins (400mcg Folic Acid, plus all the normal stuff) and an 800mcg Folic Acid supplement. My friend always took 2 Flintstone Vitamins and her kids are fine. Never get sick from my Centrum or the supplements and the Centrum tastes pretty good. :thumbsup2

Becky, E2 is estradoil. Technically, E2 correlates to mature eggs. So, using E2 levels and u/s, they're able to judge when to retrieve the eggs based on their maturity. A high E2 level can be very dangerous. A risk with any sort of ovulation induction is ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). My RE's policy is not to transfer if the E2 is 3,000 or higher. She'll retrieve and freeze the embryos and transfer at a later date. The real risk comes if a pregnancy results. E2 is produced in response to pregnancy and, if it's already at an abnormally high level, it causes breathing problems and fluid build-up in the abdomen and chest cavity. I've had women in buddy groups on FF that have been hospitalized with drains. In some cases, it can be fatal. It's not something to mess around with. I'm a strong responder.....so, I have to be monitored closely. I'll take it.....my worst fear was not responding at all! So, that's the biology lesson of the day. :rotfl:

I made the mistake today of telling my RE that I felt like I was carrying around 2 bowling balls. Next thing I know, I'm on the table with my paper blanket. I have 10, yes TEN, measurable follicles on EACH side. YIKES!!!! They're all roughly the same size, but they're only 2mm and they need to get to about 18mm. They grow about 2mm per day at this stage of the game, so I still have about 8 days of shots. Ah well......I'll find out my E2 later in the afternoon. That was a fun and exciting 4 hour round-trip drive.

I think June is THE lucky month. :cheer2: The DIS is going to be overrun with cranky, bloated pregnant women! Look out, men!!!

Good Morning Ladies,

I should be working, but instead I'm hear. My temp was up this morning, 98.3, Up from 97.4 to 97.5. This is my first month taking temps and checking fluids.

I think this means, I've crossed over into the no BFP for you phase. Especially because my DH, not darling husband, but damn husband and I got into an arguement on Saturday didn't TTC over the weekend which was I believe my most fertlie time.

Does this happen to any of you? How do you TTC, not sure what the abbr. for sex is, when you are angry? I can't...

And BTW, any of the ladies on this thread that get the BFP, please keep in touch with us. And any of you who want to hang out with us for fun or moral support, please do so!!! The extra baby dust is always welcomed.

Hi!! Congrats on your decision and good luck...and welcome to the crazy world of TTC!

When I went off the pill, my cycles resumed immediately. I ovulated 15 days after stopping my last pill (I had a short period right after, too) and then she showed up again on day 28 of my cycle. From then on my cycles were exactly the same as pre-pill...ovulating between CD 15-18 and a LP of 17-18 days.

I don't really think that it makes that much difference (just from my own studies), but in any case, I was only on the pill for about 6 months.

First off, I hope you guys don't mind me lurking on this thread. Dh and I plan to start ttc baby #2 next year (although in some ways I would like to start trying sooner...like a few months from now...but I know it's best to wait so I'm trying to be patient, lol!) so I have been scanning some of these posts for info. and I have actually learned a lot.

Anyway, I went off of the pill the very 1st week in June 2004. We did not start ttc right away though. We used condoms for 2 months afterwards. I can honestly say my period was not affected in any way which surprised me. I still had it every 28 days like clockwork and did not experience any difference in flow or cramping or any of that other fun stuff. I was taking a folic acid supplement and exercising and doing WWs during those 2 months and lost a little weight before we started ttc since I am a bit overweight and was afraid that would affect my chances at conceiving. The 1st week of August we decided to start ttc since it was during my "fertile time" anyway. I wasn't expecting it to go so smoothly so imagine my surprise when I learned I was pregnant 2.5 weeks later! Our dd is now 13 months old. Anyway, that was my experience with going off of the pill and I just thought I'd share since I could actually contribute to your question! I hope no one minds that I posted here! Okay, slowly fading back into lurker mode...

Carla I'm going to DITTO what Becky said...you're a wealth of information. I'm learning so much from you. Good luck with your E2 results today..and WOW at the number of follicles growing in there. No wonder you feel so bloated.

Becky put the HPT's down :p :p

Skuttle, I honestly don't know the name of my prenatal vitamin but I know it's not completely OTC. My pharmacist recommended it to me. It's in a white bottle with a tan cover. I get it at Harris Teeter and my pharmacist keeps it behind the counter. It's never made me sick.

LovinWDW, I was on the pill for 7 years. When I came off of it the first 3 months were as if nothing had changed. I had the same cycle and length of cycle. The 4th month and after it completely changed. I went from 25 days to 28, to 35, to 40 back to 25..and that cycle continued. So I had to visit my doctor to test for polycystic ovarian syndrome.

The DIS is going to be overrun with cranky, bloated pregnant women! Look out, men!!!
:lmao: AF is here so I'm already that way. :teeth:

Rachael, I wish I could give you some advice on baby dancing when you're not really feeling up to it.

Tasha+Scott, welcome to the group. Feel free to come out of lurking mode and post as much as you want :) :)

No more news here...we're just waiting for my appt on the 13th :yay:

lovinwdw - when I went off the pill (for migraines, not TTC), my cycles went back to being really irregular (3-4 periods / year), but I have PCOS, so that changes everything.

I agree with Becky too - Carla, you've been incredibly helpful. Thank you for everything. And you're right - June will be the month for all of us.

As far as prenatals, I've been taking the Rite Aid brand ones. The only bad part is the gas they give me. It's been kind of nice to be able to keep up with DH though... :rotfl2:
