Any one watch these? Gay Days 2009

I would say that nine times out of 10, when people wear religious shirts to Gayday it is to be intentionally rude to the gay people attending.

I don't think they're intentionally trying to be rude; they're trying to "save" people and they're attempting it by turning themselves into walking evangelical billboards.

I would characterize them as "insensitive" or "misguided" rather than rude.

Instead of making fun of the mom, why not accept her for whom she is, as gay/lesbians want to be accepted, and be thankful that at least she wasn't rude. As for the remark about her wearing a cross, since when does believing in GOD make one a bad person? We are all on our own journey in life and hopefully learning as we go.

Wow, maybe you should get to know us here on this board before you throw things out. I just found the video and thought it funny how hard they were trying to not get involved. I never slammed them or their belief in god. She can be whomever she wishes. I just find it funny that a person would try so hard to not watch marriage proposal. :confused3

As I'm the one who mentioned the cross on her shirt, let me chime in here. I merely mentioned that I found it amusing that she was trying very hard to not be there. I did not make a value judgement about her in any way. My mention of the cross was a refernce to which person I was talking about. I could just as easily have said "the lady in the purple hat". Except that she wasn't wearing a purple hat, she was wearing a shirt with a cross on it. I don't think that believing in god is a bad thing. I personally believe in a higher power.

Frankly, I was more annoyed with the what I perceive to be a couple of rude lesbians (note. I do not mean to imply that all lesbians are rude, just the ones in the video) deciding to walk over and stand in front of someone else's video camera while it was very obvious they were taping a very special moment.

I wear a relatively noticeable cross everyday, since I was about 15 and I'm 52 now, and will be wearing it when we go to disney in Nov. I don't know if it will be a special day for anyone that might take offense, but no offense is intended on my part. My faith has been a constant in my life that has gotten me through many devastating times in my life. My faith brings me a peace that this world can't give.
As I said before, we are all on a journey and unless if someone insults you directly, don't assume that they are judging you.

You know what? You're right. We shouldn't assume that the family in question is judging us. Viewing the video, it certainly appears to me that she's got some issues with the proposal that's happening in her immediate vicinity, but not knowing the woman, I can't know for sure.

The thing is, the religious right in our country targets our community SO FREQUENTLY that it's very easy for us to forget the very good religious people who are our friends. But we've been burned a lot, so forgive us for being a bit skittish.

And, finally, I'm glad you like the pictures of Tolliver. He's the cutest little guy ever. I hope your mini-doxies bring you as much joy as ours does! :thumbsup2

Nice proposal video. Good luck to both of them.

As for the other thing, well, I feel for the woman. Whatever her opinion is, she must have felt awkward.

They probably just booked their vacation not knowing of Gay Days, and of course unless you're 100% fine with it, its bound to be a little awkward.

But, irrespective of having prime parade seats, if she really had a problem she could have (discreetly) got up and moved, which she didn't.

Lets just hope she's not one of those who went back home and said "we had a good vacation until we went to the Magic Kingdom".

Anyway, once again, congrats to the couple getting hitched!

boa sorte!

Not that I intended for this thread to turn this way....but I feel the opposite. We deal with straight couples EVERYDAY! I do not feel for them. I feel bad for the couple because someone interupted their video!

(Maybe I am just one of those rude lesbians!!)

^Well yes, that was just plain rude. When they first appeared I thought they were part of it, maybe a double proposal or something, then I realised they just waltzed right in paying no attention to the camera!
