Any one on 7-29-06 / 7 Night Western!!!! Is Back

Hi all,

Marci...so sorry to here about your Mom and your vacation. Hope she is feeling better now and you are too. Family can cause such stress sometimes ;)

Well....our pool was finished today and we are currently filling it up with water. The kids are soooooo excited. The boys start school next Wednesday so they'll get a couple of days to swim before summer ends for them.

What is it about the cruise that you keep thinking about it and can't wait for the next one ?! :confused3

At least we can still all "talk" to each other.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Jen

:sunny: Hello!
Marci, Sorry to hear about your mom! Hope she is feeling better.

Jen, I bet the kids can not wait to go in the pool! That is so great to be able to come home and go in a pool. We had one at are other house and I loved it. But when we moved we did not put one in. ;)

Are schools around here start on August 23rd.

Steven does not start college till the day after Labor Day. He will start to move in on the Wednesday before. Then on the Friday before we willl go down with him to finish up. We spend the wekend. They have a bunch of activities for families.

Good afternoon all!!!

Marci, hope all is getting better with your mom. Is she in the same area with you that you can monitor how she is doing??? It is so frightening when things start happening with our parents.

Jen...enjoy the pool!!! Have the boys and Jaclyn do a cannonball for me!!! Will it be ready when the water gets in or do you have to wait a bit for the temp to regulate?

Valerie, enjoy the consistancy of being in the routine of school.

Helen we are awaiting your results!!! OH...right before we left the World...they have new dog bandanas...a Tink Christmas one! It was adorable!

Okay Carla...lets see...officially there are 170.2 days of school for the boys. Not sure what the official is from the high school! Days in school is sitting right at 175+/-. Now, days till summer vacation...284!!!! That is for the high school break...grade school starts in 277!!!! :woohoo: When do you guys get out?????

I will have to figure out those ticker things so that I will know daily!
So...anybody planning any upcoming trips to WDW???? Let me know, we may overlap.

Thanks for always being friendly voices and voices of reason!!!

OH!!! On the upcoming trip we get to have a get together in the Roy suite. I will get as many photos as I can, and then I will try to post them here!!!

Here is a sunset from the front porch of the Florida house...thought we missed out with the Key West sunset!

What a beautiful pic Tif!

We are going to WDW Dec. 15-24. This will be our first Christmas visit and can't wait! My bday is Dec. 25 is this is a bday celebration.

Anyone else there at the same time? We'll be staying at OKW.

Tif...the pool water is a bit cool. We will put in solar to heat up the pool but the solar company is really busy and can't get out yet. ...I'll wait for the solar till I go in. But as I write this the boys are in there.

Jen

I would be waiting too!!! I like my water a bit warmer. But, thank God kids are a bit more laid back!

You will love WDW at the holidays!! See if you can book for the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT!!! It is a wonderful evening and it sells out faster each year. The holidays don't seem as fulfilling to me if we don't get to see it. Some years we have seen it 5 times in a trip! If you wait to near the end of your trip Gary Sinise should be doing the readings and he does the most beautiful job!
Tom's bday is Christmas Eve. He and a brother three years younger. They have one between them that is New Year's Eve!!! Needless to say, the holidays for the Ferlmann clan are definitely full!!!! :teeth:
Anyway, you will enjoy! It is one of my favorite times to be there. I am actually hoping to make a trip down after the holidays this year. High school basketball and 6th grade boys is preventing me from going during. Au weia!!!

Tif - Thanks for the pics. Beautiful! You are so lucky to have a house in FLA. My family will have to live through your trips so keep us posted. No plans to go back as of now. But don't forget we go to DL all the time especially at Christmas. It's beautiful and they make our Small World into a holiday ride like Haunted Mansion. I'll have to send pics of that.

Jen - Congrats on the pool. We moved to a house with a pool last year. We love it! It looked like it was out of the 70's so we recently had it redone. We got the pebble sheen color called Caribbean Blue and it's so dark that our pool is almost too warm. I didn't think of that! We would like to go to Hawaii for our next big trip so we would love to see you guys. Our boys really liked your boys.

Helen - Is there somewhere we can see all of your competitions online?

Carla - How is Addison?

Flo - How are you and what happened with your car? Is everything back to normal?

Marci - My mom has been sick as well. It's so hard.
She did go see her lupus doctor and he said that her recent radiation treatments for a tumor that she had on her corrodded (sp?) artery wall may have zapped away her lupus. Cool!

As for me the kids don't start actually until Sept. 5th and the teachers (that's me) go back officially on 8/31 but teachers always start way ahead of time because there is so much to do. I start school tomorrow! I am going back to get my masters (for the money of course) and will have classes on both Monday and Tuesday nights. Ugh! It will be a very hard fall for us but we will get through it. Dan will have to take up some of the slack.

We are going camping up to Huntington Lake which is near Fresno this Wed. through Sunday. I'm not much of a camper so we will see how that goes.

This board is so wonderful. It's a great place to be with great friends!
Valerie

Hey guys!

Helen -- hope the competition went well!

Tif -- love the picture of the sunset! How far is the house from WDW -- I think you may have posted that once but I don't remember...

Valerie -- good luck with teaching and with your graduate degree. I know you will do well and Dan will come through for you.

Jen -- we are making a quick trip to WDW December 15 - 20. We'd love to meet you for dinner one night. Maybe we can hook up an ADR together to celebrate your birthday early? Hope the boys are loving the pool.

Carla -- hope all is well with you, hubby and those beautiful girls.

Flo -- I hope all is well with you, your hubby and your son. Thanks for the pictures from Palo. I wish I had thought ahead to the first day of the trip so that we could have all been seated together. Marco was a doll and we had a gerat time there.

Lisa -- hope all is well with you and your beautiful girls as well.

Tif -- Mom is close by -- we live on a family compound type thing -- around 20 acres, and so we are spread out along with a pond, cattle etc. but we are in the city limits. My Aunt, cousins, parents, and brother and his family all live on family land, and my sister and her family are just across the way. Mom is on morphine for the back pain that is also radiating around her entire middle section. I love my mom dearly and have always been close to her, but I'm fed up that she let herself get this way. It is completely her fault for letting herself get obese, as all her medical problems started with the obesity. This is a woman who beat breast cancer in both breasts and survived complete reconstruction as well as chemo. I just don't get why she doesn't take care of herself, as hard as it was to beat the cancer. Enough negative vibes for now...... Thanks for letting me vent.

I hope everyone has a Magical week -- my boys start school tomorrow, and it looks like they'll have great teachers so I'm pretty excited and so are they.

Take care everyone!!

Hey Guys,

Sorry Ive not got on till now - Yesterday was such a long lond day. We left our house @4:30am had a 4 hour drive to the comps then got back @11pm.

Anyway not good news Im afraid, our team did not do very well. I can however put my hand on my heart and say that both Ben & Dave were excellent and did not put a foot or paw wrong. Thats more than can be said about the others in the team. There are going to be some harsh words said on Wednesday night @training. As Ben was dropped in a couple of races when some of the other dogs were making mistakes. - Thats another story !

Marci- Im so sorry to hear about your mum and I do hope she is alright. She is in my prayers.

Tif - Have you worked out how many days till out med cruise yet.

The other day Dave saw me on the boards and said - Are you going to be on there all the time - I said Do you not realise its only 11 months 2 weeks till our cruise. ( He hung his head in despair)lol

Valerie, hope school goes well and let me know if you want to arrange a school link. We dont start back till 4th Sep ( I think thats your labour day?)

Jen - we have a lot of water in our garden at the moment, sadly though its puddles as its not stopped raining and the temp is in the low 60's !!!

Carla - I hope Addison gets better soon, tell her we're thinking of her.

Flo hope you are ok - I must send you some of the photos we took from Serenity BAy, there a good one of you and your ring !

Its so good that even though the cruise is over we can still share our feelings and thoughts on this thread.

Well I've just finished the last of my birthday cake as tomorrow I am starting Weight watchers with a friend. Hopefully now I have finished the 6 months of my injections I might be able to lose some weight. :yay: ( I must admit I still think about the Jif peanut butter you have in the states mmmmmm)

Take care all
H xx

Good morning everyone!

Helen -- good luck on Weight Watchers. I love the program. I'm still trying to get off another 5 lbs to get to lifetime. I've promised myself that I'll get there -- just need to devote some time to exercise!

Off to work now. Have a great week!

Oh No, Helen,
You're not going to have another Disney Amnesty, are you? :lmao:

Addison LOVES Jif Peanut Butter, too. What's your favorite, crunchy or creamy?

Hey Marci,

Yes...Let's try to plan something for December. Would be great to see you guys again! Will pm you.

Okay my friends...

I had thought taking Abby, then Iain, then Alec to Kindergarten were the hardest days of my life. I was completely wrong. Today was awful...she never saw me cry, but the ocean of tears that took over after I dropped her at the door to Peoria Notre Dame High School were overwhelming. Flo probably knows exactly what I mean...and she has made it through to college! I don't know how you survive. Everybody that has grade schoolers...TREASURE EVERY MINUTE!!!!
Abby had a great first day....thanks to the golf team! The majority of the girls are Juniors and they really took Abby under their wing. Granted, she is playing as their number 2-3 player so it helps her. Plus she is a bit outgoing...but anyway...the team really paved her way and have made her an honorary member of the Junior class. Her friends from SVdP are awed at it already!

Marci, I know what you mean about moms and health. Mine has a terminal illness that she has already outlived the docs predictions of! A big reason she has the disease is because she smoked for about 26 years. We are very close, and even live near one another. Not the ideal situation like you! How wonderful to be in that situation! That has actually been a dream of ours. Tom's side has a total of 33 of us, mine rounds out at 10. Anyway...don't give up on her! I know you won't! But remember to learn from it. It sounds like you have if you are about to be lifetime! That is awesome! So far I am up to 18 pounds off witht the medical weight loss program. That is about 8-10 more than the cruise!!!
Helen...you can do it!!!
Jen and Marci...if I can schmooze my DH enough, we might make it down for a bit of holiday magic. I can't stand not being down there during the holiday. If we do, we will get ahold of you...

Oh...Marci...from my garage in FL to getting out of the car at the Wedding Pavilion is about 12 minutes. It is nice.

Sorry I have rambled so long. Thanks for reading my friends! And we really do need to come up with another cruise for all of us.

Valerie -- I hope your mother's doctor is correct and the lupus is gone. Here's PD and prayers that the radiation is 100% successful!

Tif -- sounds like you could use a hug! :grouphug: I'm so glad Abby had a great day. She is a beautiful girl, and she always had a huge smile when she saw me around the ship. I know she will not have any problems....but you and Tom will have a hard time fighting off the boys.

Everyone -- Thanks for the encouragement and prayers concerning my mom, and I'm sorry to hear about your mom, Tif. I got wonderful encouragement from my friends here on the DIS, both on the cruise meet and on the DDA thread. I decided to take control and once my dad pulled some strings and found a new internist for her to see, I made the appointment, pulled the paperwork off of the website, filled it out, including attaching a sheet with her 25 medications typed out, and went to the doctor's appt today with she and my dad. I'm thankful that the doctor suggested admitting her to the hospital. We will get quicker results with seeing all the specialist she needs to see, and they will come to her vs. her having to see them one day at a time. Plus, the hospital can regulate her pain better. It's been too rough on my dad caring for her all these weeks. He loves her dearly but it was beginning to take a toll on him. And I'm not strong enough to lift her, so I could only help with fetching, running errands etc.

With the tests they have run so far, we haven't really found anything, which I guess is good. The neurologist was supposed to come by after I left tonight with the results of the MRI. I'm praying that it's not her breast cancer (9 years ago, clean since then) popping up in her bones/back.

Tif and everyone-- come join us for a reunion at WDW in December. This is only our second December trip, and I can't wait to enjoy the parks without sweating through my clothes! Christmas is also my favorite time of the year, so two favorite's together = priceless.

Tif -- I'm green with envy. Also, congrats on the weight loss. That is significant in a short period of time.

Tif,
Thanks for the Kind words! I do agree with you TREASURE EVERY MINUTE of Grade school. I remember when we first dropped Steven off at college. I was fine; I had some tears but not many. I though boy this is going to be easy (NOT). He came home for the first time (for a weekend). When we said good by in the drive it hit me. I went in the house and the tears just started to come. My husband came in and said are you ok. I told him to leave me alone for a while. It did not hit me till then. I think it was be because in the time he was at school he had grown up so much. He was becoming a man. Right now we are getting ready to take him back to school next week. He is moving his things in on Wednesday. He is going to be a Junior. I look at him and think to my self he is going to be on his own soon and I sure cannot figure out were the time has gone. So like Tif said treasure every minute because they grow up to fast. I do know one thing when he moves out on his own I will be a basket case.
I am glad that Abby’s transition for grad school to high school went so good. I think playing a sport also helps out a lot.
It is funny though how the kids do better then their parents with the change.
Take care everyone! Sorry so long.
Flo
:wave2:

P.S. Marci, hope your mom is better.

Jen, How is the pool?

Marci and Tif....sending much Aloha your way for your Mothers :grouphug:

Talking about school....last week I took Jaclyn to meet her preschool teacher. When my boys went to preschool I was sooooo happy :teeth:

But with my little girl...and she being the last child....I find myself really excited for her and sad at the same time because it feels like there isn't a baby in the house anymore :guilty: So silly....I know....but I understand what you all are feeling.

As for the pool....here's a pic of the kids swimming in it. We wanted the pool to have a tide pool/ natural water pond look to it. Still no solar or jacuzzi heater yet...everything is on backorder. And we still have to fix the yard  Marci....the little fish you gave with the goody bags is one of Jaclyn's favorite swim toys!

IMG_2353.jpg

Tif....really work on your DH for the christmas trip....would be great to see you all again.

Talk to you all soon,
Jen

Jen that is a great pool. I can see the kids are enjoying it. :sunny:

Hi all,

Hope you are all ok, and I'm saying a prayer for all the mam's. (mine included)

Just been back to the hospital with my mam. You may recall she fractured her wrist in March, the bones have healed but left her with Sudeck's Atrophy to her arm. Basically, she still has no movement and a lot of pain - we are waiting to hear from consultant as to if they are going to re break it and manuipulate it. She has been off work since March and is finding it very hard going.

Anyway when we called back at her home the postman had been and guess what was on the door step - My postcard from CAstaway CAy -so it has taken 3 weeks! I wish I was there now.

As for future cruises - We would love to meet up with you guys again but I think it will be 2009/2010 before we can get back to the states! (Now that is a depressing thought) :confused3

Oh well the offer is still there if you want to travel across the pond ;)

Take care

Helen x

Jen...WOW! Your pool is gorgeous! :sunny: The additional features you were mentioning makes it sound like such a fantasy! It looks like a pool that will create a lot of wonderful memories and have much love around it!

Flo...good luck getting Stephen back to school. Are you doing anything special this weekend before he goes back next?

Helen...we will pray for your mum! I hope that they can get some therapy to work without re-breaking it! Also...loved the photos! Thank you!

Marci...good job on just taking over with your Dad regarding your Mom's health! We will keep her in prayer!

Valerie...any news on your mom???

Okay all...send out the pixie dust! The tropical depression that is about to become Ernesto shouldn't be one to worry about for our cruise, but there is a wave forming off the coast of Africa that could cause us a bit of trouble. While I love being on board, and I love being alone with Tom, I will be ready to get back to the kids! Lots going on when we get back!
