Any one on 7-29-06 / 7 Night Western!!!! Is Back

DH, DS and I just returned today from our 8 days in Key West :thumbsup2 . We had an incredible week, with lots of great family time. Let me tell you, the drag show at 801 Bourbon Street was quite an experience :rotfl2: , but one that DH and I are glad that we did. DS (16) LOVED the Haunted Key West tour that he and I did one evening , along with biking around Key West for 2 days . A BIG highlight of our last day in Key West was walking out of Turtle Kraals after breakfast Sunday (which was delicious, by the way :teeth: ), and seeing that BEAUTIFUL Disney Magic in all her glory pixiedust: . Of course we walked down to the dock to get as close as we could to her. The closer we got, the tears started falling down my cheeks. DS just shook his head at me. On this trip I realized that I had been to Florida ~ 30 times in my life and this was the first time that I did not go to WDW :scared1: . I was going through MAJOR ºoº withdrawal, but not to fear, DH and I will be there in less than 2 months for the free dining promotion :woohoo: ! It was our Disney cruise 2 years ago, with a stop in Key West, that got us to come back for a week this time. Of course my camera batteries chose that moment to die, so I bought some new ones and a kind man offered to take a picture of DS, DH and myself with the Magic in the background. We were there when all you lucky passengers debarked. I smiled at all of you as you left the ship, knowing what a wonderful vacation you were just beginning. I hope you all had smooth waters and beautiful weather with many happy memories made for you and your families pixiedust: . I still smile when I look at our cruise pictures throughout the house. It was the best family vacation we have ever had. When DH saw the ship he said "You know, we REALLY need to book another Disney cruise." It won't take much convincing on my part :) ~

:sunny: Hi Everyone! Hope you had a great time I know I did. One of the highlights was meeting all of you. More later. :dance3:

dznyacct: Glad you got to see the Magic. ANd got some what of a fix. :sunny: Now that I am home I am goingthrough withdrawles. Oh well there is always a next time. :sunny:

Incredible cruise - great weather - and we met some wonderful new friends! I am so thankful that I joined the cruise meets thread! You have all been so kind, and it was fun to meet everyone and talk with them throughout the week.

Better yet, we were able to dine with 2 of our DISers & family - Valerie and Helen, and it was GREAT fun! :dance3:

How many of you re-booked on Board?

We did - for a "future date" in 2008. We're hoping for a late May early June sailing. :woohoo:

Carla, We did not re book. We joined the DVC. I am not sure what we are going to do in 2008. My son will be graduating from college. I do know that I am already looking into WDW for 2007. We will be staying at SSR.

I do agree we meet allot of friends on the cruise. I want to say in touch with everyone.

If any of you would like to send me your e mail address (in a PM) I will put an e mail together in about a week and send out everyone.

Take care my friends.

Flo...perfect!!! I love the Till We Meet Again!!! I took shots of it too...but mine are still on my computer till we get back to Illinois! We are on dial up in Florida...UGH!!! Drives me nuts!! But at least I am online!!!

We only got to see Helen and Marci during the week. Thought I saw Jen at the auctions, but not sure. Hope everyone enjoyed their week, we did! Abby's best friend said it was better than she had expected. And the only thing better would be a 14 day!!! We now have another Dis Cruise junkie!!! :woohoo: Tom is going to try to talk her parents into letting her cruise the Med with us!!!

Flo...go ahead and use my email in the group list!
Talk with you all later!

Our cruise was so incredible!! It's so fun to look back at the pictures and think about everything.
Thank you so much Flo for coordinating our meet. It was truly one of the highlights. We felt so welcome and it was fun running into people we knew during the cruise.
We LOVED eating with Carla's family and Helen and Dave. We had so much fun and knew so much about eachother already. Great idea. Thanks for coordinating Carla. We truly have made life long friends!
We didn't rebook because we have so many other places we are interested in going like Hawaii and so we were a little afraid to commit.
Thanks again everyone for a great cruise and thanks for all the goodies. It's fun to go back through our things and remember!
My 6th load of laundry just finished so back to work......

Good morning everyone! What a fabulous cruise! We had such a great time! I'm feeling a bit blue that it is over. I keep looking at "just a short small 4 day" and telling myself that just to wait and see. I saw many of you in passing and it was great to have a familiar face to say hello to. I see Flo was just as convinced at the DVC presentation as I was. I'm currently evaluating whether it really is "worth it" - the dollar return on money spent.
Did you all know that we had someone famous on our cruise? Scott Adams, the comic strip creator of Dilbert was on a "familymoon" (he just got married) on our cruise. Do any of you recognize him or his wife? He has a funny blog about trying to work out what to do with people aged 6 to 79 on the disney cruise.

Again, Flo, thanks for organizing everything. I hope you enjoyed the Magaritas. My girls were supposed to drop the goods, knock and run (pixie dust you know)- so I hope you weren't too confused about why a 12 yo was bringing you booze :sunny:
Well, laundry beckons....

Lisa,

We have been DVC members since 1993. Abby was just a year and a half. We actually walked away without doing anything. Within a couple of months we called back down and they shipped us everything via FEDEX. They were great to work with and made everything easy. Over the years we went ahead and added on points 4 times. For us, the opportunity really did make a difference. It forced us to take vacations. We have used our points in the Concierge program staying in downtown Chicago when we would go up for shows or Tom's dental conventions. We have been able to take my family one year, and Tom's family another. We put everyone up in Grand Villas. For Tom's side it was two Grands and a two bedroom! For five days. We couldn't just go out and do that...but by investing in DVC, we had the points and the opportunity. It made for some fantastic memories. It is also how we are cruising the med next summer! Tom says that if you vacation every other year, it will pay for itself in less than 10 years. If you do Disney everyother year...it pays for itself in about 5. You have the benefits of it for the next 45+ years. You then pay for the stuff you want...not the room! If you do have any questions, ask. There are a bunch of us on this sailing that are members. If you want to talk, PM me and we can again trade cell numbers.

To all...missing the ship greatly. Talked with Abby...she returned to Illinois with Tom...she was drama queening with missing the ship. She said it was her favorite cruise yet.

see ya!

Hi! I agree with Tif. We go to Disney so much that is going to pay for it self. I also like the ida that all I have to worry about is air, car and souverniers.

Just my 2 cents.

Just wanted to share what happend on my first day back to work. I leave to go to lunch. I am at a stop sign by work, there is a simi in front of me. He decides to back up and let another simi turn. Guess what I am behind him. He does not realize this. I start to back up as fast as I can when I see his lights. It was to late. By then he had hit me. I get out of my car and start to yell to him. The other truck drivers stoped and asked what he was doing he even saw me. SO need less to say my car is in the shop. At this point they are not sure if there is any thing wrong under the hood from that and it is almost 800.00. :sad2:

What a first day back to work

Oh FLO! I'm so sorry. What a way to start back to work :furious: I'm sending smells of bbq ribs and the cry of children and the smell of salty air your way (Disney Dreamin)

Thanks for the info on DVC - I think I will do it - I figured out (well dh actually) that if we stay in the condo resorts like Saratoga Springs we will break even in 5-6 visits. DH had some formula and figured out the that you get almost 4 times the "points value" if you stay at a Disney Condo as opposed to Disney hotel, and 10 times the value as opposed to using the points for a partner hotel. So - since he agrees we would NEVER spend 11,500 to go for 1 week to Saratoga Springs at Christmas for a 2 bedroom (if booked today for christmas 06 on Disney website) - he does agree that the points make since since we now (older kids) book 2 hotel rooms. - My head was spinning but he agrees (wow I can't believe it) that the DVC make sense for us since I go with the kids every other year.

maybe a 4 night cruise for us next summer! wahoo

Congrats on your decisions!!! You will really be glad you did!!! Think about a 7 day again in 2008!!! Flo is considering, I'm trying to convince DH...maybe we could persuade a few others in our group!!! Any takers!!!!

I already (dh doesn't know) booked a dummy date to swap for a 2008 7 night. When oh when will they be out!!!!! I know I know - good things come to those who wait.....

Lisa,
Congrats on your decision! I am happy for you. As they say on the DVC part of the forums Welcome Home! :thumbsup2
I wanted to book for 2008 when we were on board but we could not do both.
Thanks for sending the Disney Dreaming.

We booked a dummy date, too, for 2008. We actually booked 3 cabins - that's right, 3!!! My cousin's family, my MIL, and my family! Woo Hoo, bring on those 2008 dates! :woohoo: :hourglass

Spoke with Jen at the Budget office in Port Canaveral - they booked a 2008 date too! Maybe we'll have a reunion on board??

Editing my post to add: Did you all read that they changed the repeat cruiser gift beginning with last Saturday's sailing? Now I have to sail again to get the new gift bag with all the goodies in it!

Flo -- I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you! How frustrating!

We're in for 2008. We're waiting to see what the itineraries are -- will be shooting for first or second week of July. We won't be doing a Western again -- we LOVED the company of all of you, but weren't crazy about the ports, other than GC.

Even not liking the ports that well we had a fabulous cruise! You are all amazing people!
