Any one jumping onboard with Verizon next month with the iphone?

Received more information on this promo. You have to buy 2 smartphones - one with the $30/month data plan and the other with th $10/month data plan. The only phone that is waived is the $10/month data plan phone. So it doesn't seem like such a great deal.

This is not true. You only have to buy one smartphone. Some of the smartphones are buy one get one free so maybe that's what they meant.

The unlimted $30 plan is only for a limited time though.. And like I said, I find Verizon customer service lacking.. So I'll be staying with AT&T- just my personal opinion.

Verizon is running a promo until the end of this month waiving the 9.99 fee for 2 years. Since we already pay it for our DS, it would feel like a credit to us, and as the sale guy explained to us, the current $10 a month fee we currently pay for DS to have unlimited texting/photos is not needed since that is coverd in the 30 a month data plan, increasing our credit to $20 a month. We would choose to add an $8 monthly insurance fee. So for us, basically 30 data plan + 8 insurance is 38...less the 20 credit would be a monthly increase of $18 for our DS to upgrade if he were to do so. I only have unlimited texting( $5 p mo) so if it were myself upgrading, I would have a $15 credit to put toward the increase.

Texting is not included in the data plan. I have a smartphone with $30 month data plan and have to pay extra for each text, since I don't have a texting plan. I use less than $5 texts per month, so it is not worth it for me to add on texting plan.

We currently have Sprint, 2 Blackberry's and locked into a contract until November, so staying for a while longer.. Our current plan is $149 a month for 1500 minutes and unlimited data..

Whats that type of package going to cost us with Verizon with two IPhones???

No iPhone here yet either...I was also waiting for it to go to Verizon. My mom is a woman OBSESSED right now, though. She was also waiting for it to go to Verizon, and Feb. 3rd can't get here soon enough for her. Every time I call her to ask what's new, she starts talking about the iPhone She loves her gadgets!

Right now my bill thru Verizon for 3 phones, familyplan, unlimited talk and text is costing me $127 including taxes. When I get the iPhone next week (keeping fingers crossed) it will go up the $30 plus taxes - So roughly about $160. I figure I am due for an upgrade credit, if I don't use it by July I lose it. I will eventually be going to a smartphone anyway, and I've been wanting the iPhone forever, so why not go for it now. I didn't like the Droids when I went into the store to 'play' around with them. I have enough all the apps already for my iPod Touch, so it's a no-brainer for me as to which phone to get.

Right now, I have AT&T where my bill is $166 per month. That is one iPhone and one Samsung Flight. 1400 minutes shared per month, unlimited text and a $30 unlimited data plan on the iPhone.

I'm anxious to see how Verizon will compare overall. Two big negatives to Verizon right now is that (1) I've already purchased a MicroCell to fix AT&T's crappy service in my area (2) No texting, emailing or surfing while talking on the phone.

Are you sure? My data plan through verizon ($25) for my blackberry is unlimited and includes unlimited text messages. Maybe data plans include different things depending on the type of phone?

Is yours an older data plan? Maybe that plan is different. Right now they only offer the unlimited for $30/month (or 150 mb for $15 which they are soon doing away with), but I have a Droid. Maybe things are different for a Blackberry?

I just got back from the verizon store. I was told something a little different. I was told you could have the $15 data plan. I hate when each store tells you something different. I bet your store is right. They want to get the most money out of you.

This does not bother me at all. I cannot email and talk on the phone at home with a computer and my home phone, I get all confused .

that is very similar to what we were looking at too, DH was going to upgrade my phone along with DS, but since DS isn't ready we are passing. However, our sales guy told us the texting was included in the data plan, not sure what to think but not bothering looking into it since we are no longer changing by the end of this month. We also receive the 20% discount and it is much appreciated by us. We are sticking with Verizon, it is the best for DD at college. Her friends in her apartment complex all have different carriers, guess which one is never an issue? Even AT&T is a problem for many there, and they are in a 2 story complex, not like it is a steel high rise. Since DD's cell is her only line, no way are we messing with that.

We have had Verizon since... oohh... probably 2004-ish. I'm due for an upgrade, as is DH, so I think we may at least put DH on the iphone. I don't NEEEEEEED an Iphone... but it would be nice to have. We both have Ipod Touches, which are great if we have a wi-fi signal....

So, we'll see. Not sure yet.

Since I use a Bluetooth device almost all the time with my iPhone, I find it very convenient to be able to talk and surf. Examples are times when someone calls me for directions. I just go to Mapquest and hook them up. I have people that will call and ask a question that I can solve by doing a quick Google. And of course, there is that ever so popular surfing while on hold time.

Thanks for the info. I'm not planning on getting a screen protector but I probably will get a case. You can usually get them cheap on Amazon or Ebay.
