*Very happy to report the HOJO called me this morning and confirmed my cancellation. They said no problem, just go through in-house next time. ;) So major thumbs up to HOJO and their always awesome customer service!

I don't know if they will put our room back on the retro rate list but our cancelled room was for Oct. 17, 18, & 19. ALL were Retro Rate!

I booked our dates several months ago and now somethings come up and we need to cancel. I specifically ASKED when I made the reservation if we could cancel if needed (my DH is military, nothing is ever concrete for us) and she said sure, no problem. I know the website says no cancellations and asked again and she said that's just "to warn people".

Today I called and she said she could not cancel our reservation. They directed me to Customer Care which I'm assuming was at the corporate level b/c they didn't know what hotel I was even speaking about and "opened a case on my behalf" to have it cancelled. How frustrating!

Anyone have luck cancelling without penalty.

You'll want to call back during the week and speak to in house reservations. They only work M-F I believe.

I booked a room for November, called back and added a room, and then had to cancel the room I added a few weeks later. No problems adding or cancelling. Mind you, only one of my nights is at the EC rate.

That's reassuring and that's what I was hoping was the case.

I'll call back tomorrow. We are cancelling Oct. and booking for Sept. but no Retro Rates for our new dates :( Maybe they'll let me "switch" :)

Yes, you absolutely need to call the Anaheim HoJo directly, the "main" reservation 800 number is very unhelpful in cases like this but in house reservations should be very accommodating.

If memory serves me correctly, you should be able to cancel A retro rate booking, but they charge you for one night unless it is a mixed booking of some nights at retro rate and some nights at the normal rate.

You may want to do some searching on DIS because if memory serves a few months ago when they were first going to start implementing this new no refund no cancel policy there was a big long thread. Part of what my brain remembers was that the no cancel policy was for reservations made after a certain date. If you can find that, the manager of the Anaheim HoJo posted and confirmed that after X date no cancels....so if your reservation where they told you "sure you can cancel" was before his cut off date, you may be able to contact him and point to that thread.

I'm guessing that your "sure" was all by phone and you have nothing in writing like an email confirming it or anything? That's part of the reason I rarely will call and make reservations for hotels, cars, planes, etc by phone anymore....I prefer to email and get an answer in writing.

Be sure to explain WHY you need to cancel....perhaps the fact that your military husband has gotten his orders will move them to be more lenient. Good luck!

Are retro rates transferable? I'd love to have some for my trip in October! :upsidedow

Are all your dates Retro Rate? If you have a mixed reservation, call and speak with in house reservations, not the central reservation number. The Anaheim Reservation desk will happily cancel your reservation as long as you have at least one day that is not the Retro Rate.

good luck!
