A 512MB Shuffle will only play 8 hours of music that's encoded at 128k. Most of the stuff on my computer is at 192k. So, it would never get me through an entire workday, let alone home afterwards.


With the 1GB, 2GB & 4 GB, I would have to reload music every single day. That's too much of a hassle for me.

The 60GB is just too much with the way it organizes stuff.

So, I got the 30GB video. It's still difficult to find stuff with the way it organizes, but oh well.

My one really big problem is that the video is very limited to what you can load onto it.

I have never had a problem with either of those things. I mean obviously you can't load Windows Media onto an Apple product. But you can easily convert .wmv to .mp4 by uploading the video to google and then downloading again by the iPod option. Other than that, I'm not sure what you mean.

It is only ever difficult to find things for me if I don't have one of the information sections filled (ex. album or artist). But you can fix that in itunes.

ive never had a problem, i think i know what it isthough, its heppend to me once. my dad bought a song on itunes i wanted it on my ipod but it wouldent work because the PC i was using was not alloud to play my dads songs. mabey thats whats wrong

I have a 512mb 1st gen shuffle (my first iPod), a first gen 2gb black nano (my second ipod) and a 30gb black video (my most recent ipod)

I usually use my video and my shuffle because my nano has a huge scratch on it and the screen is really dim and yellowish for some reason.

Why not be able to use win media on an apple product? There are many programs that have been adapted to be used on both windows and apple computers. And the vast majority of video items are in win media.
Seems to be an awful lot of hassle to download, upload, download again and load onto ipod.

Part of the problem for me is that I have a lot of DJ sets. Not albums. Much of these don't have an idividual artist other than the DJ, no album, no genre, no anything other than the title.
Then I do have a lot of other stuff that are individual songs, but have no info encoded in them. It's too much work to go through 100GB of music and add all that info.
I don't use my ipod to load my cds onto it. If I want to listen to my cds, then I'll use my cd player. And with my music collection, even the 60GB ipod would come no where near holding it. It won't even come close to holding what is just on my computer.

I have also found that it usually does not play albums in the actual song order.

I have a 30 Gig ipod the video one...and I just :love it! I actually never thought I would be able to use it as I am not to good on all the new electical stuff..but it really is very easy to use...even for some like me..lol

I have a 1 gb RCA Lyra that uses Flash media cards. It was a lot cheaper than an Ipod and with 2 extra cards i can carry all the music I need for a day
