Any of you not go to your "home" on the first trip

We had stayed in a BWV studio for cash before buying into DVC there, but our first trip on points, BWV had nothing available. We wound up staying 3 nights at POR and 3 nights at OKW that trip. Have stayed at VWL and BCV also (besides BWV of course), and at Paradise Pier at DL. Still gotta try SSR, and want to do AKL for a night or two some trip. Doubt we'll ever do HH or VB; too far from the parks!

I guess I'm unusual (I know) because we didn't consider staying anywhere except our home resort on our first trip as DVC members. Then, when we decided 1 month before our trip to see if we could change our last night to anywhere else "just to see all the DVC resorts", we thought we were really living wild! That was before I met any other DVCers and found out how many different choices there are.

We are new members at SSR and our first trip (this Sat. ) will be at OKW and we are staying in June at BCV. I want to try them all eventually!

I own at BWV but stayed at OKW first.

Same here! I loved OKW for the first trip. We stayed in a 1BR, and the "wow factor" was amazing! When I eventually stayed at my home resorts (BWV and BCV), I fell in love all over again.

We stayed on points at BCV, AKL and VWL before actually making a trip "home" to SSR.

Going back to SSR in June, can't wait

We became Members in 2000 , while staying at Disney's Vero Beach. Love that resort !
Then, our actual first trip using points was a Disney Wonder cruise. We own at OKW and have been back there to stay since the cruise, as well as BWV and VWL.

We bought into SSR this past September and haven't stayed there yet. Our first trip was a 2 night stay at OKW in late September, then a 3 night stay at VWL in mid December. This Sunday we will be staying at BWV for 5 nights. I think we will try SSR later this year but I am not sure.

We didn't use our "home" the first time we stayed. We actually stayed at Riverside(always wanted to stay there). So ours wasn't even a DVC resort. We have also stayed at the Cabins at Wilderness campgrounds. Not the best way to use points but we loved it. I have only stayed at my home resort VWL once for one night. We are staying there for our trip in December but even at the 7 month window I'm going to see if we can switch it up. I really don't care for my "home" I love OKW and I also want to try Boardwalk for a few nights we'll see what happens.

*1st trip: Exchanged for The Ridge @ Lake Tahoe (lived in CA, just had baby - closer than FL)
*2nd trip: OKW & VB
*3rd trip: OKW
*4th trip: Grand Californian (had baby #2 - DL 20 miles away)
*5th trip: OKW
*6th trip: OKW & HHI

Bought SSR in 2005

Upcoming trips:
April 2006: HHI
November 2006: Finally going to make it to BWV (home I)
May 2007: Finally going to make it to SSR -- shooting for a GV(home II)

DH loves OKW!! Really had to sell him on staying at our home resorts!!
