Any new Visa card members apply without the DVC link?

I applied for my Disney Visa through the conventional link because I did not know that if I used the link through the members only website that my card would also reflect me DVC membership. Has anyone called to try to get their card changed to the DVC card and if so, what did you have to provide to show that you are a member?

Thanks

Jon

Great question as I also didn't know there was a DVC link so mine does not have DVC on it. I had thought about calling but wasn't sure if it really was that important or not.

I applied through the conventional link too and my card says "charter cardmember" under my name. I called up and the rep I spoke to just kept giving me the DVC 800 number, he didn't know what I was talking about, so I am assuming there is no difference but am not sure. The Disney DVC / Visa cards have "Disney vacationclub" under the name, is this the only difference with the physical look?

I filled out the application on-line thru the e-mail that I received - not even thinking about the DVC site  After reading comments on this board, I called yesterday (Sunday) and was transferred twice before I spoke to a helpful lady. She told me that she would put the change thru in the computer so that our card would reflect DVC member. Whew!

She then proceeded to tell me that the card was only going to be issued in my DH's name - that I wasn't even on the application! I told her that I WAS there when I hit send as I was the one who filled out the application. She said "no problem, just have him call and we'll issue you one too". That's absolutely right!!! I want it more than my DH! :Pinkbounc Now, I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it all come thru as planned - with the DVC logo.

What number did you call for the change? I applied through disneysecret, not realizing there was a dvc card.

Thanks

When I hit the online link from the DVC site, it led to the general application so I called it in. I wanted to make sure that it had DVC on it. (I was asked for our super duper, top secret, hush-hush, I'll never tell code.;) )

She tried to trip me up with a trick question: "What's your monthly mortgage payment?" Since it's on auto-pay, I had no clue. (If you haven't noticed, I don't deal with any of the posts that mention $$$. My job is to create the bill, I leave paying it to DH. :p ) I vaguely remembered the closing, so I guessed "wisely."

I'm sure that I'll find all sorts of creative uses for my new piece of plastic. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :bounce:

If you apply through DVC do you get a card that has a DVC logo on it or does it just say "Disney Vacation Club" under the name instead of "Charter Card Member" ?

Thanks,
Vince

I applied through the conventional way, then realized we could have DVC on the card. I already received my card, but when I called the customer service # on the back of the card, they said I need to apply for a new card?? I thought they could just issue a new card with the DVC logo, if I gave them the correct password. He gave me an 800 number to call to reapply with the DVC logo. Has anyone else had this problem??

sweetp267,

I believe all the codes lead to the same place (and the same card). While the implication is that some folks received a "special" invitation to apply for the card, I believe it is just a marketing tool to see how effective the advertising pitch is to various target groups....

I would think that they are possibly planning on giving us some sort of DVC-exclusive perk. I mean why else would they need to place Disney Vacation Club on the card? If the rewards were all going to be the same, why the need to designate yourself as a DVC member. You know you are because you carry around the member card.

I agree with the fact that the codes are being utilized to solicit marketing performance. I have seen at least 5 different codes popup.

I am hoping that optimism pays off. Being DVC members I think has taken away one of the nicer perks of the card, the fact that you can place a Vacation Package on your card and not have to pay for six months without incurring any interest. Maybe their hope is that you decide to stay beyond your point allotment and make a cash ressie as well.

Who knows...I guess we will see soon.

I did not apply on line since my computer said it was not a secure link. I called and applied over the phone. I gave the code for DVC to the young lady who took my application, but she could not enter it through Bank One. I then gave her the Day 1 code but told her I was a DVC member and wanted it to have DVC on it. We went over this about 3 times. She said it would.
Guess what, I got it yesterday and DVC was not on the card. It says the same as everyone else - Charter Card Member. When I called Bank One the gentleman just took my information and said that someone would contact me in the next few days. If I hear from Bank One about this, I will let you know if DVC can be put on the card.

I applied over the phone, and the lady asked what code I had. I gave her the code, and she knew it was the DVC code. My card came with (cardmember since) "Day 1" above my name, and "Disney Vacation Club" underneath it. It would have been nice to have the DVC logo, or perhaps even a picture of our home resort. Maybe next issue......

Got a message from Bank One that in order to get DVC on my card I have to reapply and cancel acct that has charter cardholder on it. Now I am wondering if it is worth the trouble to have DVC on it. Does anyone know if there are any extra perks for having DVC on it?

According to the DVC site, you can call 888-688-4868 to apply for the card. The code number is on the DVC site.

OR

To insure you have the "Day 1" logo on your card, you can use the same phone number and use code on the special sign up page.

I was told to wait for my card to arrive and then call in with the proper codes and they would send me a new card.

We shall see!

Nink is correct.....I applied by phone using the code from the Vacation Magic...card should be embossed with DISNEY VACATION CLUB.....applying with the code from the Disney Club News will not state anything about being a DVC member if i read correctly.. will be anxious to see what 'goodies' we get...

Nink, I realize it was just an innocent mistake, but would you edit your post as to not reveal special codes?

Thanx.....

Sorry 'bout that. I guess I didn't realize that helpful information was a no-no.

Now that I have been educated, I'll do better next time!

Thanks.

I ran into the same problem as some of you. I recieved a Charter Cardmember embossing instead of DVC Member.

I thought it to be no big deal, but I called anyway to get it changed. What a hassle. Everyone I spoke to said you must re-apply. It is not in ones best interest to re-apply since any application for a credit card hurts ones credit (even if you cancel the other card).

I was transferred numerous times and was given several numbers to call. The best I could find out was that the cards are the same, however, they will occasionally market different offers to DVC members. Essentially, they have a separate department that handles marketing and offers for each group.

I insisted that I would not re-apply for a new card. They offered to change the embossing to DVC member, but I would still be handled by the marketing department for Charter Cardmembers.

The person I spoke to said they would call back if they get any additional info. If anyone with a similar problem gets it resolved, please post it here for us to use as a guide.

I think that it would be a mistake to apply for the card again!!

Remember, these are credit cards, not simply disney club cards. They will have an impact on your credit rating and history, just by applying and receiving them. Applying for a credit card shows on your credit history for a year, and it lowers your cedit score. Also, the amount of available credit you have lowers your score, because they see it as credit that you have available and could use. Be careful with these things.

Has anyone successfully gotten their card changed over? I have been through many numbers and no one can help. It doesn't necessarily matter to me if it says DVC member on it unless we receive different offers! Their only solution is to cancel and reapply. Very frustrating!!
