I want to go to Myrtle Beach Christmas week. I found some cheap places on the beach..But I don't know the setup of the area.

Where is THE best area to stay, to be close to the action.. Like at Disney I love staying at the Dolphin because it's on the Boardwalk and the walk into Epcot.

What area do I look at. I would love to watch fireworks from the room or beach.

I have 11 and 14 yr. old dd's too.

I really wanted Disney but it's too much money and too crowded for us that week, so I though I'd try Myrtle Beach.

Thank you for any help.

I so depends on your wants and needs. Do you want Ocean front? Do you need a condo with cooking facilities or just a room? Do you want close to night time shows?

MB is VERY differnt than WDW. You pretty much drive everywhere. Unlike WDW, Christmas week will not be a really busy time and there will be a lot of things not open. Do not expect minature golf or the theme parks to be open. Christmas at MB is about the shows and shopping. Have never seen fireworks in the winter.

If you want to be on the beach, look for ocean front in Myrtle or North Myrtle. Rates are really good this time of year. If you are interested in some shows, I would suggest you get tickets ahead of time. Broadway by the Beach is sorta like DTD and is nice at Christmas. We go in January and always stay at the Coral Reef. It at the far end of Myrtle Beach and has indoor pools and a Star Bucks in walking distance;)

Anything on the strip is easy to drive to anywhere you want to be, especially that time of the year. Stay ocean front, definitely. We wind up at Broadway at the Beach every night to window shop, see a movie, golf, Magiquest, ziplining, Ripley's aquarium, and to eat dinner! We love the food choices there.

Broadway at the Beach is a nice area. Most of the oceanfront Hotels have outdoor pools, which will NOT be open in December. If you want a pool indoor, there is a Hampton Inn & Suites right at Broadway at the Beach and I believe their pool is indoors. There are also a few Christmas things to do like Shadrack Christmas drive through (http://www.shadrackchristmas.com/locations/myrtle-beach-sc/) it's a bit pricey but it's a nice show and they have a little carnival thing included with admission.

Dunes Village is really nice and they have a deal right now that will get you an oceanfront suite for under $70/night. They have an indoor waterpark. Dunes is in a residential area that is very quite and surrounded by huge beautiful homes.

Aside from that look for a place that is on North Ocean Blvd. Find The Breakers and go north of that. I think it's around 21st Ave. Anderson Ocean Club is in that area and is also very nice...they might have an indoor pool.

The addresses on Ocean Blvd are like the getto on MB.

Like others have said you will find that most things are closed in the winter...MB is a summer place.

Well thank you everyone for your help. It looks like dh wants to save the money stay home Christmas break and go to Disney for Feb. winter break. I couldn't agree more. :) I'm going to go very light on Christmas.
