I cancelled my membership to Hotwire when the vouchers were no longer available. But, I would definitely "rejoin" if they started selling them again. Does anyone have any news on this?

TIA,

Beca

I really think that they are gone for good since Disney has the new Dining Package that you can get with the MYW admissions and an on site package.

Beca,

I also cancelled my membership this month after reading about the discontinuation of the WDW vouchers. I too figured that I will rejoin if they bring them back, though I am not holding out much hope for that to happen.

Luckily the DDE card discount that I ordered will compensate for the vouchers not being available for my next trip.

I am sooo crushed that the vouchers are no longer available!

From my understanding, you have to be staying on property to use the new dining options correct?

So seriously bummed out! Now I will need to really need to do some figuring for food etc..! It was so easy and convenient to just get the vouchers for park days! Good thing I have plenty of time left to plan all this! lol!

For us, the vouchers were a better deal. We didn't have to buy the meal package for everyday! The quick & casuals were $11.50 so that is a lot of difference in prices too. We usually shared a meal with the Vacation Lunch vouchers, but with the meal plan everyone has to have it and we just don't eat that much.

I have an AP pass, so the cost for me was $25 off or $50. I used it the last time that we went. Almost every sit down meal including CRT took the 20% off.
Since we're going several more times before it expires in FEB '06, it'll definitely pay for itself!

I wonder if it would help if we all started an email or Postal mail campaign regarding the loss of meal options. Disney must at least take note of customer input.

Like most here, our family could never eat all those meals if every family member were required to buy the meal plan. Particularly my 11yo, who would be charged as an adult and eats like a bird.

I also would like to see options available for those of us who can only afford to visit if we stay off-site, but I know Disney likes to discourage that in every way possible.

I'm glad the DDE is available for the AP holders, but I wish they could get some sort of vouchers as well. Plus, as I recall, the DDE didn't cover many of our favorite restaurants such as the Pepper Market.

If there is a bulk email or petition in the works, please let me know. I understand why WDW would want people to discontinue the use of the vouchers purchased from Connections, etc. What I don't understand is why they would not offer some sort of dining plan or food vouchers for all guests (like at AK), as opposed to those just purchasing a pkg. Maybe they are waiting to see the numbers the new dining plan is bringing in first. I understand Disney wanting to encourage people to purchase pkgs and stay on site, but I can't imagine that anyone would choose to buy the pkg in lieu of saving more money on the resort room. I know some people don't know about the different money saving resort options, so those people (purchasing pkgs anyway) might save using the dining plan. I definetly don't think I would save more money using the dining plan with a pkg than getting an AP (to be used for two trips) and buying my own meals. Maybe the people at Disney do not realize that I spent more on the voucher than I would if I were just ordering from one of their counter service places. They would make more $ on me by selling me the vouchers than letting me buy my meals separately. Before finding out about the meal vouchers, DH and I would either skip meals, eat offsite, or buy less expensive menu options, no drinks, and no deserts. Yes, we have used the vouchers at B&C and Pepper Market, but the majority of other times we used them at the AS Food Court and some of the lesser expensive counter service eateries in the parks. We ate offsite less often since we felt the vouchers allowed us the luxury of a drink & desert. Now, I will most certainly eat offsite more (since I'm now used to not skipping meals). We do not have any problem with Golden Corral, Steak N'Shake, or even Taco Bell. Sorry Disney, you just lost some of my dining dollars.

Here Here!!
I could not have said it better :flower:

Well said, Frannn.

We're another family that went from carrying in sandwiches or eating off-site to using both kinds of vouchers. We were spending more for sure, but the kids were happier and I sort of enjoyed trying new things also (especially the desserts). I would probably never plunk down the cash to buy a Disney dessert. It just isn't in my frugal (OK .... tightwad) nature.

We don't plan on going back for more than a day or so anytime soon, so maybe something new will be available by then.

Looking forward to info on starting that petition.

I'm interested too.
