Disney Now has Harbourside Inn on Martha's Vinyard on interval international. Anyone have any information on that one? Thanks for any info in advance.

This is great news. We visited Martha's Vineyard this past spring (for "Jawsfest", if you can believe that!), and it will make a wonderful getaway. Martha's Vineyard is where "Jaws" was filmed, and the town of "Amity" in the movie is Edgartown. The building that served as the sheriff's office in the movie is just across the street from the Harborside Inn.

The Inn is a very nice resort in the heart of Edgartown, the most picturesque (and touristy) part of the island. We didn't stay there, but we did take a look at it. It's not a huge resort, but it is very nice. It's right on the waterfront, and seems to have nice views. Their website is www.theharborsideinn.com, and you can request a brochure there.

Our stay on the Vineyard was a whirlwind one, basically a long weekend. We were thinking we might want to spend more time there, and in fact had grabbed a brochure for the Harborside Inn! We'll definitely stay there sometime in the future. DVC gets better again!

I agree, the Harborside has always looked nice. We go to the MV every year but we haven't stayed there yet. Friends of ours have and liked it. We have stayed at many other Inns/hotels there and have rented houses. Harborview has a great location in Edgartown center for shopping, browsing, eating, etc. There is a pool at the resort but not a beach (closest would probably be South beach and you would need to drive - the public trolley might go there as well). MV is a great place but extremely crowded in the summer and you need ferry reservations (if taking your car). We prefer to go in June or September to avoid the excessive crowds. Good luck with your decision.

My Uncle owned a home there and it is a lovely New England Island....

And Imagine going to a movie (at 12 or 13) named Jaws and then walking out of the theather and swimming at the beach they filmed it on.... Oh yeah... stil have nightmares about that one.... lol

I am going to have to talk to DH about trying the Harbourside... looks like a nice place!

Does anyone know what the point requirements are by chance? This might be quite nice....

Call me crazy but we are among the FEW who find Martha's Vineyard over rated. We found it dull, dreary and most of the year cold. I could not imagine exchanging to go the Marthas Vineyard. We like to at least have a little activity at our fingertips. We alsolike to at least be able to swim in the ocean without a dry suit on. You might want to skip this one.

Thanks for all the info. I was surprised to hear that they are less busy in the summer. I would think summer would be the high season.

My vote is to go to Nantucket! :thumbsup2

Linco,

Not sure if you got something lost in translation but summer is the busy season on the Vineyard. July & August are high season. A good alternative is to go in June or September -the rates will be lower and the island will be a lot less crowded. Yes the water is cold, especially during June, IMHO the New England beaches are not really swimmable until August through early September.
The Vineyard is a nice place to relax, many nice restaurants and unique shops.
And if you like some exercise there's a great bike path that extends for miles & miles; great way to take in the local scenery.

Absolutely! MV is a bit boring for me. Nantucket has some nightlife and good shopping.
