Any idea when we can buy WDW annual passes?

So.... someone who cancelled their pass in March 2020 -- 14 months ago --- can call up and buy a new pass now but not the general public? Why? What's the difference?

If you don't currently have a pass, you don't currently have a pass. Full stop. Allowing some to buy new passes but not all is so bizarre. And a horrible business decision.

Take my money!? Guess not..... your loss, Disney. I'll just be taking far fewer trips.
I certainly understand your frustration and agree that it doesn't make much sense. Obviously as someone who did cancel and was able to buy new later, I'm quite happy that I was able to. But I do wish others could as well.

Don't worry, soon they will all be in the same boat as us. I swear, as long as people get what is good for them they could care less about everyone else. Well, can't wait to see the look on their faces when WDW does the exact same thing as Land and sunsets their precious legacy AP's they think they are entitled to for life. They will be the first ones to complain on here about how unfair it is, trust me.

So, you're saying people who can get one under Disney's current rules are selfish and don't care about others? Are they supposed to NOT renew their pass to make it "fair"?

Just trying to understand here.

If Disney has already made the decision to sunset APs they wouldn't be making any exceptions.
I can envision all APs having a very few blackout dates, Christmas week.

Many of us think Disney is going to introduce some kind of paid FP system. Your ticket, AP or other, gets you into the park. Want to have a productive day riding all the popular attractions. $$$

I didn't say they didn't care about others, I said they only care about themselves. As long as the program is working for them, keep it shut down for the rest of us and the rest of us can all pay full price tickets while you and your family who simply have an AP get to continue to go for basically free(after the threshold of $1200).

They would have and could have easily put out a press release a long time ago saying once covid restrictions are lifted and they can offer park access as normal that AP's would be back. There is a REASON they have not done that. There is a REASON they sunset it at Disneyland(yes I realize the demographics are different). The only logical solution is that the entire program is going to be revamped(just like Land).

So enjoy your tickets, because a year from the date you bought them it will be the last time you set foot in disney with an AP. There will be a new AP program, but it won't be the "buy one ticket go as many times as you want"

...years from now people are going to look back on how insane and stupid the AP program actually was, but they will need to understand that back in the 90's Disney actually needed the incentive to fill parks. Now? with Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, Fox properties and just general population growth 30 years into it... lol... it's more managing the TYPE of people that come, not IF they come. Meaning resort guests, meaning people who travel once or twice and spend A LOT of money. Not locals, not DVC, not people who are going to nickel and dime their way to try and squeeze in an extra mini vacation without paying for tickets.

You will see.

The people taking advantage of the current status aren't doing ANYTHING to you. DISNEY is doing it. Your anger is grossly misplaced.

WDW isn’t getting rid of APs. If they were, they would have done it during the closure.

Can we stop arguing about who cares and who doesn't? I realize there's no new news about APs but I also know a lot of us see the new posts and get excited just to see arguing or complaining about those that can get them. We all get it and it sucks those of us that want to buy new ones can't, but arguing and complaining won't change anything.

Agree! So let's get back to the original questions. Of course nobody knows for sure, but when do you think APs will be available for everyone, and what may change?

I think they will come back in late summer or early fall, once capacity limits are increased to at or near 100%. If the anticipated 50th anniversary attendance is huge, then Disney might wait until January or February. I think that Florida APs might resume a month or two before out of state APs.

I think there will be several tiers of passes perhaps similar to the Florida APs now. I could see an out of state AP with blackout dates around the busiest weeks priced at or above where the old ones are; $1,200?? I think the unlimited APs will be at or above $1,500. There may be additional discounts or incentives. There prices could be structured around monthly "membership dues" which would increase every 6 months or a year just like you cable bill. You would have to commit for at least a year but could cancel anytime after that. If fast passes become an extra cost, then the APs might be a couple of hundred dollars more but include 3 or so FPs per day.

Also if I am reading what you said correctly, you are suggesting the new AP's would cost $1500 + extra for FP's. yea that will go over well.

My money is on this thread being closed now.

Why? I think everyone here is being respectful. No one is being personally attacked.

Some have been posting about their success in getting new passes (those who cancelled or had their passes expire since Covid). So it's only natural that those who are not allowed to are venting their frustrations.

What has changed? Well, now it's been well over a year, that's what's changed. But the policy hasn't. Maybe it's time?

Perhaps someone from Disney visits these forums every now and then? Could be helpful for them to see what so many of us are saying.

So pay a entry price and then pay to ride the rides of your choice.... Maybe to keep it balanced, offer a package that includes different levels or tiers - say maybe do a A, B, C, D and E.

Sounds like we are coming full circle. ;)

Our neighbor supposedly knows someone in ticketing at Disney. She told us she "heard" AP's sales for Florida residents soon, with a wink. I don't know, I've heard this before. But with the discounted Florida resident tickets being extended for use into July. I guess it would make sense if after July 4th, we get at least Florida resident passes back for new purchases.

Yes, I'm not saying I like it, but Disney could have a huge increase, figuring the pent-up demand would cover it. APs were over $1200 in 2019. If they "just" continued their rise of the past few years they could have been $1350 in 2020 and $1450 in 2021.

Historically, I think the price of an AP was somewhere around two 5-day hopper tickets, sometimes a bit less. I just checked, and the price of a two 5-day hopper tickets is now up to $1370 at peak pricing (less for non-peak times). So an AP in 2021 could have been around $1370. Add in 2022 pricing with a bit more for pent-up demand and you can see $1500.

Will it go over well? I agree with you that it will not. But after we all finish grumbling and complaining (I will be in that group), then many will compare it to taking two trips a year with 4-7-day hoppers and buy APs. I will also be in that group.
