Any idea when we can buy WDW annual passes?

I am getting this horrible feeling that when they announce the date its going to be like trying to get on rise of the resistance, refreshing a mobile app and seeing everything sold out 30 seconds later. I hope I am wrong.

I also have this horrible sinking feeling that they are only going to offer renewals and AP's to DVC members and FL residents. The rest of us can pound sand. Again, hope I am wrong. I swear I would look for a loophole to become a FL resident if that happened.

I just dropped $900 on park hoppers for 3 trips(that's at the military discount of $300 for 5 days). God I would have given anything to have gotten an AP before all this happened, I absolutely believe World is going to pull the same thing Land did(yes I know the geographics are different), because they are selling out with or without AP's and they make a whole lot more off someone without an AP.

doubt it dvc members will get special treatment. They don’t care about dvc members like they use to. Don’t know if it’s bad leadership in the dvc or what is going on.

I got the callback today and was told I qualify. I wasn't able to renew on the spot and told them I'd call them back, they said they put a note in my account. But here's a question I've thought of since that I'm wondering about:

I have a trip that begins on 5/26 that I paid the balance off on last week. It was a package that included tickets. The room I have booked is no longer available, so I don't want to cancel the package. Do you think that they would let me apply the cost of the tickets in the package to an AP renewal? Or maybe I should just wait until I get there and talk to guest services about it the day we arrive and bridge those tickets? I'm not sure what to do -- there are no rooms left at the resort I have booked next month and I don't want to give that up.
back in the old days I believe you would have been able to apply the value of those tickets and kept the room. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Not a bug. It's intentional. o_OMind = Blown!

Hubby called and spoke to yet another person. This CM told us to go ahead and purchase the tickets. When we renew our AP, call and demand to speak to managers until we get someone that will apply a credit against the AP. We can also try guest relations at DS, as they are more likely to grant this without trouble.

She verified the system no longer allows them to process renewing an AP earlier than 60 days.

Terrified to do this in case the credit request is denied.

Guys Chapek just bought a 12.5 million house in CA. Its over. I am calling it right here.

The new "Annual Pass" will literally be a discount membership club to get % off food, merch, resorts, parking, etc . It will make sense if you go 5+ times a year, but for most people will be pointless. The whole ticket thing... well, we will all be able to tell our grandkids about how at one time you could buy a single ticket that let you go whenever you want. It will be the stuff of legend. Mark my words. Its over. I will reference this post when this comes to fruition.

How much was it to buy back your pass?
It was full price. No renewal, no buying through AAA. So $12xx including tax or something like that. Less than $1300. Which is exactly why I *didn't* renew back in October when you couldn't park hop or anything, and now that they're evidently not going to do a big price drop I'm just buying it & going to hopefully go back this summer. It's good until 2099 supposedly if I don't activate it, haha. I'm just trying to find a good price for a hotel now!

Nope, same answer. I am able to renew the pass in July (I did misunderstand my hubby, they are renewable in July, do not expire in July), and there is no way I am going to get to renew it early to make my park passes. I explained I felt punished for being an AP member, in that others are able to plan ahead and get their reservations for the harder to get ones, such as Epcot and MK (anniversary and Ratatouille being full swing in Nov), but as an AP, I can't. So frustrated and disappointed.
I'd call again. I had no problem making park pass reservations pre-renewing my AP once I got through to a person.

My 30 days is on Friday. I doubt I’ll hear back from them so I plan to call. I’ll probably ask them at the same time to help with park reservations since we have a resort stay and I know there have been issues when those are full but the AP still has availability

Wanted to update with my experience. I was only trying to buy an AP for my DS who just turned 3. DH & I still have current APs. About 2 weeks ago, I put my name on the list to get a call back. Today I called back & said “annual pass” when prompted. I then selected option 1 for new tickets. When I got the CM, I told him I needed to talk to someone in annual pass & told him what I was trying to do. He connected me directly to the correct person & my hold time was about 45 min. The cm i talked to then allowed me to buy an AP for DS & I was also able to apply the price of his 7 day park hopper to it & pay the difference. This was all at about 8pm central time. Earlier in the day, I was offered to give my info & get a callback b/c the hold time was over 2 hours, but I asked if I could just hold & he said yes & transferred me. After 2.5 hours , it disconnected on me 😡! But I was able to get it done later this evening. I followed the advice of a previous poster & I think the key to getting through is just to ask to be transferred & agree to hold. But, ftr, they did have my “ticket” to give me a callback from 2 weeks ago b/c she said she was going to delete it.

Not necessarily. It could be a hint as to what they may do with WDW passes

Doubtful. Just because they were similar with DLR offering more options, doesn't mean they'll at all look the same later. It's been discussed all over before, DLR is more of a locals park so they do things differently. They aren't even opening tomorrow with things identical to wdw though they now could.

We had platinum passes but want to get resident gold passes instead. I’m wondering if they cost the same or not
So far as I can remember, the prices for FL resident Gold & DVC Gold have been the same, so if you’re renewing you should be able to go from Platinum to Gold for the price we paid.

Not saying the program will be overhauled in the same way… Just that it’s reasonable to conclude WDW AP sales will resume soon as well

Maybe, but we don't know what they are planning. One doesn't mean the other. Could they start tomorro? Sure or maybe not until next year. DLR saying they'll be on sale by the end of the year gives me 0 hope for wdw. Especially when it's taking a month, more or another phone call to the AP line for people to get back the passes they had. There's 0 urgency on wdw's side to get these people passes, even with trips already planned.

Of course we don’t know for sure, but it’s not unreasonable to make the connection. If they feel that things are moving along well enough to introduce a brand new program on the west coast by the end of the year, I think it’s perfectly logical to expect the same resumption of sales on the east coast within that same time frame.

Either way, seeing those comments gave me a glimmer of hope, and I shared in case it would do the same for someone else. Too much doom and gloom in the world these days… Sometimes a little hope goes a long way 🙂
