Hi ,

Just got back from our hols after having flown PE on one of the new Airbus 330's .

Disappointed with the new plane overall , but IFE was exellent.

I thought i had heard they were updating the 747's on the Manchester to Orlando route - does anyone know anything about this ?

I really am tempted to go back to a 747 next year.

It felt very crapmped on the Airbus and on our return trip we only had use of 1 toilet as we were told we couldn't use the front one.

The only thing swiniging it in their favour is the new IFE , it made the journey pass really quickly.
:)

I know we've been spoilt with the bubble PE but really nervous about the cramped feeling on the A330. When those pictures first got leaked it really annoyed us that they seemed to have really packed them all in. We rarely use IFE preferring all our own entertainment on Nintendos or the iPad.

With respect to the refit, I think Upper Class are getting the bump back so be careful wishing for a refit on the 747, it could end up being the same or worse than the A330.

Yes I have read the 747 planes are due to be updated beginning the end of this year. But also pe will move fully downstairs and uc in the bubble.

Oh , well

Think i'll stick with the Airbus 330 , do prefer to arrive earlier anyway in Orlando.

Thanks :)

I do not believe this bit has been confirmed yet.

It was origionally mentioned several years ago when the story was about LGW 747's getting the same config as the Heathrow ones.

So much time has gone by that anything could be done now.

Fingers crossed anyway....

It has always struck me as odd as it looks a difficult space to fit UC beds and they'd have to get rid of the bar. Fingers crossed it's new PE seats with pitch of the old ones.

The 747-400 optimum cruise is faster than the 330-300.

A friend of ours whos a pilot for Thomsons at Manchester told me just yesterday that the Virgin 747s were being pulled from service next year:confused3

Hopefully that's just for a refit rather than Virgin leasing them on. It will be such a shame if they abandon the 747, it's such a great 'plane.
