Any hope for dd's IPod Touch?...liqued damage

I used a local company called iphoneaid to work on my ipod when it got wet. They do accept shipments. If you do a google search it should come up.

I am glad so many were able to get a second chance from the Apple STore. Just wanted to thow in another "it didnt happen for me" story to the mix though. My dd dropped her brand new ipod on a friend's tile floor on 12/27, two days after she got it. We were discussing how we needed to get a good case just minutes before she dropped it and it instantly shattered!!! Took it into the store and they said the standard replacement fee was $99. So at least it wasnt another $250 but it wasnt free as so many had happen.

Keep in mind that many credit cards cover accidents such as this if you used the card to purchase the item. I bought my son an iPhone with my American Express card and two weeks later, it was stolen on the DC Metro. I called AMEX and got a full refund.

Accidental coverage is automatically included for iPod touches and iPads with squaretrade.

It is not for iPod Touches - I just looked to see if maybe they had changed something since I bought 2 warranties last year (iPod Touch and iPad2). I did the "get a warranty quote" option and it showed $18.99 for an iPod Touch and then has a link for additional options. When you click on that link it states:
Optional warranty upgrades — like Accidental Damage coverage or adding an extra year of coverage to your item — are available on most items. Upgrading your warranty will have an affect on its quoted price.

Any options available for this item can be added on the checkout page.

I clicked thru to the Checkout page and it states:
Expanded Coverage Option
Add protection from Drops, Spills and other Accidental Damage for just $21.00.
Expand your already great normal-use protection with Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH). It covers you from spilt liquids, dropped items and most other accidental damage.

So to get both for an MP3 Player / iPod touch, it would be $39 for 2 years.

However, it looks like that coverage might be included for phones (they're having a sale it looks like and that is included). For iPads, it also seems to be included, but it shows a separate charge of $39.99 when you look at the check-out page. I don't think it was automatically included when I registered my iPad last summer, but maybe I just don't remember.

So just a caution to make sure you know what you're buying to make sure you get all the coverage you need/want.

whoops you are correct. Either it was included when I purchased the warranties before or I automatically checked the option.

My apologies

I just got the quote for my dd's new ipod touch, and it is $31.99 for a 1 year warranty and that is the basic, before adding the accidental coverage. How did you get $39.99 for 2 years? Am I doing something wrong? We bought the refurbed ipod for $177.

Used items are only eligible for a 1 year warranty.

SquareTrade offers Care Plans for new, refurbished, and used items. New and refurbished items are eligible when purchased from any retail store, online retailer, or eBay. Used items are only eligible when purchased on eBay.

We do not cover used items from retail stores. We also do not cover any items, regardless of condition, purchased from classified ads, classifieds websites like Craigslist, or other person-to-person sales. Used items are eligible for a 1 year Care Plan, and may be eligible for a second year for an extra fee. The Care Plan on a used item begins on day 61 after purchase.

I would go to the checkout and see if it offers you an option to extend the warranty.

I do have a coupon for 30% off for today only. It goes down to 20% tomorrow and ends April 2nd. If anyone would like it, please PM me and I will send you the code.....

It's the difference between the refurbed and new.
If I put in a new iPod for $179 (which was what I did earlier), you can get a 2 year warranty for $18.99, plus then you can add the additional damage coverage for $21.

For a refurb, it's 1 year for $31.99 with a 2nd year for $16 - but no option to add the Accidental Damage coverage on the checkout page that I see. I wasn't aware of that difference.

Thanks for the offer of the code. The new ipod already comes with a 1 year warranty, and since I cant add the accident coverage I guess I will go without it. That is mainly what I wanted the coverage for.

there is hope, my dd took my ipod to bed with her and well...had an accident! it of course would not work so i brought it to apple and they wouldnt do anything for me. while on a weekend getaway,2 months later and after i kept trying to turn it on without luck, i took the ipod to another apple store.... and to my amazement... it turned on for them!! Also had a dsi thrown into the mop bucket accidently, around the same time, didnt turn on. my thoughts were god its dead...didnt get around to getting rid of it. 3 months go by and one day i see my oldest playing with it?! i said hey the white dsi is working? howd you do that? she turned around and said.. huh i guess it is working!!! so good luck.
