Any grant/proposal writers out there?

I've participated in writing a few proposals for some not-for-profit Community groups I'm involved in...and enjoyed it.

There's a position available to do this on a 6mos term...and I've been approached to apply.

I know there was a thread here some time ago regarding this as employment...

Any suggestions, thoughts, advice are greatly appreciated

Not sure about there, but generally around here...

Grand writers are paid on a commission basis for securing grants. If your grant proposal is turned down- you dont get paid.

Some grants are very similar, and you can just swap a few things around, and boom you've got a good proposal...other organizations require their own format etc..

Most grants have administrative fee's available, would you be the grant administrator and be able to get those fee's too?

I write grants for the Rec Dept and try to find grants that utilize the same format, to save time on my part.

Responsible for:

"Research and develop funding proposals that will result in projects supporting community access..
Implement youth initiatives (these are already in place - basically supervising youth employees 18-29 that have been hired to transfer records)

...Support the goals and objectives of the Society..."

Essentially, the Board is hiring a proposal writer for the 6mos term, which could be extended (pending $$ accessed) as well as a little office supervision

I've actually written 3 and been awarded $3000 for children's items for my home daycare. I never thought I would write one -- let alone 3 -- ever. I was very intimidated by the entire process but once I started, it wasn't all that hard. I'm beginning to work on my 4th one and my plan is to have it mailed by the end of the month. As Brandy already said, a lot of the work on my grants was done on the original proposal. Subsequent grants have been the same format and tailored towards the funding guidelines.
