My husband and I both live here in Orlando and also both had gastric bypass. Since we frequent Disney alot, we usually always either just share a meal or they will let you order off of the kids menu as well. My husband use to weigh 475 pounds (he has lost 155 so far) and was able to do all of the rides at Disney except Mission Space, Tower or Terror and Rockin Roller Coaster and now that he has lost weight he can do ALL the rides so we have alot of fun
My whole family went in '03, about 4 months after my dad had gastric bypass. Can't really give much advice except to make sure you have snacks with you at all times. We were waiting in line for over an hour at one point and he got very dizzy and needed to eat FAST. Luckily, I had some crackers for my kids with me that I gave him. After that, he always made sure to have something on him in case he needed it and couldn't get food fast enough.
HTH and great job!
You'll be my size or just a bit bigger by the time of your trip- I have no problem fitting into the seats at Disney.
My turn for gastric bypass in the next month or so- I'm waiting for a surgery date. Any more meal tips people have would be greatly appreciated. I will be there in December, probably about 3 months postop.
Hi. I'm seven years post op from gastric band. I eat more like a normal person now days, and I still found the portions at WDW to be large and I couldn't eat them. I had dreamed of the cobb salad for three years, and I get there and order it and left over 1/2. I guess that's a good thing, but I knew that I'd not have another till I go back to WDW again. Can't find anyone that makes their cobb salad the way that Brown Derby does.
I noticed the kids menu and thought about ordering from it, but them chickened out.
My mom had GB Surgery a year ago and just from being around her make sure that you are constantly drinking water. Since she can't drink large amounts at a time she just always has a bottle of water and is drinking. Especially with the heat if you get dehydrated it will be twice as hard to get hydrated again!
