Any Experience with CarMax?

I was in an accident last week and totaled my car. I've always bought new cars before, but I'm thinking about buying a used car from CarMax. Has anyone ever bought a used car from them? I'd like to know about your experience. And did you buy an extended warranty from them? Did you get your loan through them? Were you happy with the experience?

I'd appreciate any opinions!

we attempted to buy our first car with them, and didn't like the srevice we got, but it could have just been the guy we had. he wasn't very helpful when we were looking, and then when he did the financing, the best he could offer us was like 17% and we had no credit problems. we got a better deal on a new car at a dealership.

i do have friends that have bought through them and been happy though, so it's probably worth investigating.

I have been going to CarMax since 10/99 and I love the place. The people know me by name. I have bought 3 cars from there and other than trade ins I have actually sold them a car. They took alot of time getting me the right financing and yes it is with them and was the cheapest. I did purchase the extended warranty which lasted for 3 years and let em tell you it was the best. They replaced the clutch in my truck which I don't believe is covered but they worked it out for me and that was within 6 months of the warranty being up. I did my own research before I actually bought the truck and they were far better than anyone else, I will NEVER go to a dealership if I can help it. I also get my oil changed there, it is a few dollars more than other places but they have earned my trust and I like the fact that they go out of their way to remember me by name!!!

We didn't buy from them, but we sold our Explorer to them about a year ago. It was a great experience. Friendly, helpful, and all around good service. We did look at cars on their lot to buy, but they didn't have what we were looking for at the time.

We bought a SUV from them 2 years ago and sold a car to them last year. No problems either time, and we received great service and prices both times. When we bought the SUV, it was actually at a lot that was about 2 hours from our house. One of the employees drove over to that CarMax and brought it closer to us for the test drive.

We don't finance cars, so I can't help you there.
