Just curious if anyone is using this promotion to add on a week to their DVC stays and if so which resorts are you staying at for the promotion? Do you have a hard time staying in a regular resort room if you are used to staying in 2br. villas?? We are family of 5 and we need 2 rooms if we stay anything other than DVC. The only other resort we have stayed at since becoming owners is Shades of Green. We have stayed there many times over the years. We consider SOG to be deluxe. The rooms are huge, you get a day bed and 2 queen beds and the location is wonderful. The prices can't be beat until.....this deal came along. For us to stay at SOG in two rooms for 6 nights in Jan. it would cost us 1500 plus getting our AP's. If we use the promotion we could stay in a value or Mod. cheaper but not a deluxe. I had originally booked a trip for us the end of January to stay at POP in two rooms because of the deal...... then we stayed at ASMU for our last night of this past trip (got back on Friday) because we couldn't get our 8th night in a DVC resort. OH BOY......ASMU was a shocker to our systems. We actually checked them all out this past Friday and POP too. Now we know we don't want to stay at any of the All Stars and although the POP seem nicer I think the room setups are the same. We will have to get two rooms wherever we stay. Just curious if anyone is doing the promotion and where they stay. I am having a hard time with this because I am DVC spoiled in the almost 2 years we have been members.

I was considering it until we got our developer's points for our BLT purchase. Now I'm trying to figure out how to spend all those before October. ;)

We just got back from a week at BCV. To save points we stayed at ASMo for the Saturday night but we will never do it again. The room was tiny and needed a paint job. There were holes in the bedspreads, the shower pressure was minimal and we really missed having a fridge. I guess we are spoiled.

We have stayed at POR when our kids were younger. They have rooms for 5 but the trundle bed is quite small. If we were to do it again, we'd need 2 rooms.

Nope, just don't like the idea of paying cash out of pocket for lesser accomodations. Call me spoiled, lol...

Im spoiled too.

If the Deluxes were a good deal, maybe. But they are not. It will cost over 3K to do 4/3 in a Deluxe and that's in 1 room.

You can have 5 in 1 room at SOG. I would stay 1 room at SOG before I took 2 rooms at a Value or Mod.

If you stayed in a Family Suite and didnt like it, I think you have crossed over to the dark side?:goodvibes It's hard, to let these deals go when you look at the numbers, but once you are in the rooms, the numbers dont matter anymore, your comfort does.

Well that is how I feel exactly. We were shocked :scared1: at our ASMU experience....to me it was a complete waste of money. We paid 240 plus tax bucks for that night. It was horrible. My poor kids slept with bars under their backs too. We have always stayed in one room at SOG. Our last one room experience was Jan. 07 then we bought into DVC our last day of that trip and have always stayed in DVC except for last Jan. My dh was out of town so I got two rooms at SOG and me and dd were in one room and the boys were next door with my parents. So I think SOG would be too tight now in one room.

Our ASMU room was the suite and it did sleep 6 but as my kids said "very painfully". :rotfl: :rotfl: We are sooooooooooooooooo DVC spoiled now.

I did the math.... this deal is not that good.

Savings on tickets $10!!! (Try not to blow it all in one place!)

Hotel rooms at rack rate.. Hmm.. weren't those OVERPRICED rooms one of the things that drove me to DVC. For the week I priced a value averaged about $90 a night. (That was WITH the free days) I can get a much nicer hotel in Lake Buena Vista for that!

CarolA - that's what I think about the deal, too. I got caught up in the frenzy, especially when everyone was saying it was the best deal Disney had ever done . . . but when I sat down and priced each component, I just don't see it. Just average to me; I can get a better AP rate, if needed and if available.

I know it's a great deal but if you are like me, there is nothing like the spaciousness and comfort of a DVC villa. I could never go back to a hotel room and when we go anyplace other than WDW I feel as though I am slumming.

When we don't have enough points, we do the *unthinkable* and enjoy a stay at Windsor Hills or Windsor Palms off-site. Sometimes that's just the best use of limited $, especially when an AP covers parking.

We're going to do it (if our plans "stick") -- we love the Poly and we really really love the Poly concierge, neither of which I would use my DVC points for. And we're out of points for a while anyway. So, we booked the 4/3 at the Poly. It's a great savings for that level of accommodation, not considering whether you think the price is worth it or not (some don't, we do).

I got a price for dh and myself at POR, and the price was $1180 for 4+3 nights, not a particularly good deal, since in another email I could get POR room only for $98 a night. Since I am an AP holder, I would rather pay $98 for one night than stay for 7 at $1180, and use my points for the rest of my nights. Better yet, I'm touring the Hilton timeshares for 3 free nights, then going to BC on points, so I won't be using money at all!;)

NO!! If we're out of points we will do a DVC cash discount villa but I can't see ever doing a non-DVC unit ever again. I have a cousin who always does those ASMU suites...she thought about buying DVC but couldn't get past the annual maint. fees so she sticks with those ASMU rooms. I am sure she would be a "convert" if she would actually do the DVC tour tho!:rolleyes1

I will never stay in a value again. That one night was the clincher.

I guess I looked at the offer in another light. We had three weeks scheduled at BCV and opted to replace the first week for the offer. The week of Februaty1st would be 126 points in a BCV studio. If I were to rent points at $10 it would cost $1,260. The same week at POR cost of $832.52, which includes two one day upgradable tickets and a $200 voucher. We let our AP expire so the two $79.88 tickets will be applied to each of our AP’s as will the $200 voucher. This reduces the seven night stay to $472.76 ($76.54/night) vs. the $1,260. ($180/night) It also frees up 126 points which have already been applied to a two weeks stay in October visit during the F&WF. For us it appears to be a good deal.
:thumbsup2

I have no problem staying in a non-DVC resort .... even a Value resort! We are staying at All Star Movies this month on the Free Dining promo. I'm paying $643 for 2 adults and 1 child for 4 nights and that includes food and a one-day park pass (valued at $165) that I will convert into another pass for our DVC stay the next week. So, we're only paying about $120 per night for room and food. It's a great deal!

The OP is in a different situlation with 5 people and I see she won't stay in a Value resort again. If you'll need to rent two Moderate or Deluxe rooms it might be cheaper to rent points and book a 1-bedroom at AKV instead.

We have booked the promotional offer. We only own enough DVC points for our annual week-long December trip, so we usually take 1 other trip on cash. We were planning to stay at the YC for 3 nights, but this deal made it cost essentially the same amount for 7 nights at Port Orleans French Quarter. We just did the 1-day base tickets, which we will trade in towards our annual pass renewal. So it worked out nicely for us. :)

Some other resorts are actually available a night at a time, like Bonnet Creek. There are owners of Fairfield points that rent Bonnet Creek on Craig's List and Redweek, and other sites. Bonnet Creek is in the middle of Disney, though not in Disney, and the units are very nice.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree and after I booked that 7/4 deal....it just bugged me. I love our 2 br. villas and so yestersday I DUMPED THE DEAL and booked at OKW using points and one night on discounted cash. I feel soooooooooooooooo much better. I guess sometimes we hate to borrow points but that is why we have that option and something was just not sitting well with me with the CSR 7/4 deal. We actually saved money....a lot plus we are still fine points wise for our summer trip....borrowing again for some of it but still fine. We had already booked the AKV portion. We won't be going 3 times next year anyway....so it all works out just fine.
