We are currently DVC owners and have been very happy with our purchase. We would like to invest more into future vacations and are interested in finding out what the benefits of owning both DVC and MVC (Marriott Vacation Club) would be?

Is there anyone out there who owns both?

If so, what are some of the advanatages or disadvantages of Marriott in comparison to DVC?

We definitely plan on taking a WDW/Disney vacation at least once a year, but are also interested and have taken vacations to numerous other destinations. We have been DVC members since 1999 and are very familiar with all the options we have with DVC.

Any information or opinions you could share are much appreciated!!!!

If this has been a topic of a previous post, could someone please direct me to that thread?

Thanks!!

We recently purchased Saratoga Springs and also own a Marriott. We decided to purchase a Disney timeshare so that we could stay on property. If I were you, I would buy more points on a resale at WDW and not waste money on Marriott. If you absolutly have to have a Marriott, then look into Hawaii. They seem to trade the best and even I as an owner of Marriott at Lake Tahoe have trouble trading there. You should try swapping some of your Disney points to your Marriott of choice. I bet you will get your room. When i tried to swap my Marriott I was actually laughed at by the Interval International Marriott help desk when I asked to swap onto WDW. I really think you should consider picking up some cheaper points on a resale and use those to swap off of property. Try it, and by the way, most Marriott timeshares are way overpriced, so if you buy Marriott on the resale market they penalize you by not allowing you to participate in the Marriot rewards program. What a great company.

Good Luck,
Kermark

I own DVC and have owned two Marriott's. I currently own two weeks at Grande Ocean on HH. I must recentlly sold my trading week with Marriott. Even if you decide to buy a Marriott, first consider resale, just like DVC. Also DON"T buy HI unless that's what you intend to use most years. Just too expensive and the fees are too high to buy to trade, just like DVC. What's best depends on where you live, how you vacation, your family size and how you will use or trade it.

If you are thinking about trading, definitely look at Marriott over more DVC points. But it is an entirely different system and culture so spend 6 months getting educated and join The Timeshare Users Group (TUG)

Thanks for the input!

We will do some research and determine which route suits us the best.
