driving down from illinois stopping in chattanooga, then trying to figure out if there is still construction all the way down 75 through georgia. wondering if it wouldn't be better to cut across and go down the coast to get into florida?? any recent experience would help decide our route ---- thanks

Went down March 19th and traveled north on March 26th.

Although there is still construction, it is pretty painless now as more lanes have opened up and there are not as many miles with 2 lane 60mph and jersey barriers.

There is no need to avoid 75 from ATL to Valdosta.

Here is the thread for this section of I-75 from a few weeks ago.........

I agree - we were down from IL from March 24-April 2 and although there are spots I certainly wouldn't travel any other way. The two delays we had were from accidents; not construction.

We just came back North through Georgia on Friday April 8th and there were no real issues. There is a bit of construction just south of Macon and also evening work going on in Atlanta.

Have a great trip and I would agree I-75 is the way to go

My family and I went down on I-75 this past December. While there was construction in some parts there was never any major delays that caused traffic problems.
