I have been told by someone that their 'friend' has had their holiday cancelled (they are going in 3 weeks) because their hotel down I-Drive has been badly damaged by Frances.
I am very sceptical, as I am sure the tour operator wouldn't cancel this far out anyway, but I wondered if anyone can confirm this.
Is anyone aware of any damage to property etc in the I Drive area? (and even to any of the parks?) as a result of Charly or Frances???

I wonder if someone is telling a few ''porkies''.

Surely if a hotel had been damaged so that guests could not stay there the travel operator would do all they could to find alternative accommodation, after all there should be plenty of rooms available.

We are staying at Florida Pines on the US27 for 3 weeks - flying out Oct 1 - we have not been told by the owner of the villa that the area sustained any sort of major damage so as far as we are concerned we fly out on that day.

Hope whoever is involved in the ''cancellation'' is able to find alternative accommodation so as not to be disappointed at not being able to go.

Have to agree with your comment about alternative accomodation; Surely the Tour Operator would be able to put them in another hotel nearby?
Wasn't 100% convinced, so I thought I would ask if anyone else had heard of anything similar

Disney Parks and Resorts have 'tree damage' only, which probably has been all cleared up now by Disney :) Not sure about IDrive though.

We were in I drive on Monday - a day after Frances.

There was quite a lot of damage but not on that scale. The only hotel that was shown on the TV as being very badly damaged was on the coast.

The worst we saw was the roof blown off TJ Max outlet and even they were going to be open for business later in the day.

My son is due to fly back tonight and I have spoken to him an hour ago. He said that the clean up operation had gone on all week with lots of dustcarts collecting up the debris.

We actually went to Magic Kingdom on monday evening and you would never have known that a hurricane had passed through 24 hours earlier. Epcot was also open as was Sea World Discovery cove and universal.

Apparently disney and universal were all back to normal by tuesday.

Driving back to Sanford we saw lots of trees down and many houses with missing shingles (roof tiles) We did not see one with a roof off. Thank goodness. The people in Florida are lovely and our hearts go out to any of them who's homes were damaged during the hurricanes.
