Any changes to DVC mousekeeping?

Last week at Copper Creek. Checked in Saturday. Our towels were switched out on Tuesday. Trash was picked up every day. So what we expected.

What annoyed me was they have removed the brooms and vacuums from the units. We eat breakfast everyday in our room so we get quite a few crumbs. It was DISGUSTING after a few days. I thought they would quickly sweep up the crumbs Tuesday in the kitchen area, but nope. I called down twice for a broom but none was ever set up. I don't really get why they removed those from the rooms. We have used them often pre-Covid as crumbs happen and we don't live like that at home :crazy2:

As someone that cleans the floor daily (3 grandkids), that would drive me crazy. I’d probably go out and buy one.

We had a vacuum cleaner in our SSR 1 BR in June - I looked for it because of earlier posts here. What size unit did you have?

We were in a 2 bedroom at copper creek. We also did not have one in a 1 bedroom at SSR in April or 1 bedroom at Kidani last August.

We had a vacuum but no broom, when we stayed at GV in HHI in June.

Just got back from a studio at HHI on Sunday. No broom, but did have vacuum. With all the sand that we brought in daily, I'd have gone crazy without a way to get rid of it.

Please call the front desk next time--they will gladly dispatch someone to bring you a broom (and/or dustpan) or most other items you feel you're missing in the room. One might logically ask why all rooms don't automatically have brooms in them, and it's a fair question. It's more complicated than you think. The resort doesn't like to have ratty looking brooms hanging out in guests' closets, so once the brooms have been used numerous times, that's exactly what happens--they'll start looking a little frayed, or the metal handle gets bent, or the foam handle wrap tears. Guests are tough on them, as well as many other items. So, the brooms are removed because they don't look good--same with dustpans...and cutting boards, cookie sheets, silverware, mixing bowls, coffee pots, spatulas, et. al.

Well, replace them with a new one, you might say. Yes, but even at wholesale, new brooms (and other high-use items) don't come cheaply, and every resort has a budget. Do you really want your dues to constantly buy a new broom for all 120+ rooms at a small resort such as HHI, much less a larger resort like SSR? Personally, I don't. If I need a broom, I'm happy to ask the front desk to provide one. pirate:

Totally get your logic and agree completely. However, I called twice to housekeeping/front desk during our week and nothing was ever sent up. Maybe they came by when we weren't in the room and didn't leave it, but regardless we had no broom all week. And of course this is the one trip I don't get sent one of the post trip resort surveys where I could add this!

I suspect that housekeeping for hotels is also going to change permanently. We were at a hotel in the Cape Cod area last weekend and there was a one liner at the end of the check in printout stating that due to "Covid protocols" housekeeping was, by default, not taking place daily. You had to call the front desk to have housekeeping scheduled for your room.

I absolutely love the way Universal is handling housekeeping now as it is much preferred for our family and I hope it is a permanent change. You get a text when you check in, and then you just text them with whatever requests you need throughout your stay. It works so well and is contactless. We would always send them a list of things we needed on our way out the door and set any towels/trash by the door and when we came back it was waiting for us right inside the room and our dirty stuff whisked away. It was contactless and very efficient and we always got what we needed in no time. 3 separate trips to Universal and I really liked that type of housekeeping!

We loved this when were there last November. They were pretty quick to.

Which resort was this, if I might ask? And, I added the laugh emoji because it is humorously ironic that the one time you don't get a survey, you wish you had! ;)

I was just at Universal and had fun blaming Chapek for everything I had a problem with… Made it entertaining .
Disney sets those standards high ! Thankfully Universal Studios still gives me joy and I feel they still try to treat me with an ounce of respect and gratitude for guest loyalty. They make me feel like they want me to return and not jus disappear leaving behind my money.

I also realized why daily housekeeping is needed with the sheets they use. I guess it takes a lifetime of making a bed to be able to make a bed when the sheets are not fitted on ends with elastic.
I can not sleep in a crumpled bed , drives me crazy I started stripping the bed daily myself just to try to fix the problem. If they ever return to daily service, I guarantee I will leave an even better daily thank you.
#1. Those mattresses are heavy to lift
#2. I need training to make a bed and should attend a class or two.
#3. I guess I could bring my own sheets (I do bring my own pillowcases)… but I want my bed made every day when I return to my room.. and will be so much more respectful if only Chapek would give the OK! Curse you Chapek... Have you ever had to vacation with the new Disney standards yourself with your family?
How does it feel to not have the fancy beds in the Presidential Suite not made daily?

I'm thinking of getting some sheet sets to keep in my owner's locker. I hate the no fitted sheets thing.
