Any chance of getting a AAA package at the 45-day mark?

I currently have a AAA room-only ressie at Pop for June 9-15. What's the likelihood that something in a package would open up at the 45-day mark (when balances are due)? I would like to have the dining package but dragged my feet too long & the AAA packages were all gone by then. I wouldn't mind calling WDTC every day but it seems to be a pain to call AAA every day.

If i understand it right that you can add dining to your AAA room with no problem. The dining plan is not discounted though. I just called last week and asked the poor CM like a million questions and thats what he said. He did say that you could only do this if it was booked thru CRO and not AAA to start with. I am new to the whole AAA discount too so I may be wrong but thats what I was told. I booked a AAA room for August and said I was unsure about DDP adn he assured me it could be added up to just a few days before I arrive.

The problem is that I don't have a package reservation. It's a room-only reservation. As of now, Pop isn't even showing any rooms for my dates. It must be completely booked.

If someone doesn't pay their balance at the 45 day mark the package won't automatically cancel until 30 days before their departure date. So you'll probably have better luck at 30 days.

You can add the package on up to 72 hours prior...so keep trying.
Call Pop directly and see what they tell you. They may be able to do it for you by canceling your reservation, and rebooking still giving you the AAA discount, and more than likely you will still have the same confirmation number. Worth a shot!

Just confirming you have a room only AAA ressie that you made yourself, and you want to change it to a package with dining.

First.. don't cancel your existing ressie or you probably won't be able to get those dates with AAA discount.
Second.. you cannot have a AAA package unless you book at AAA.

All you need to do is take your current resservation to AAA and ask them to take it over, and add dining. You will need to purchase at least a one day MYW ticket for each person in your party. You most likely need tickets anyway.
AAA will ask you to sign the take over form and they fax it to Disney. At this point the reservation is made by the AAA TA and you can no longer access it yourself.

Have a great trip!

Yes, I have a room-only ressie at the AAA rate. I made that myself through Disney. Are you saying that I can transfer that to a package & keep my AAA discount? That would be awesome if I could do that. Yes, we do need tickets. We're thinking of getting 10-day non-expiring tickets since we know that we'll go back.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Angie,

If you want to get the AAA discount with a package (that would mean a room, park tickets, and maybe the DDP), you must--absolutely must--call an AAA agent directly. You cannot book the AAA package rates through Disney directly.

If you call Disney directly, they can apply the room only discount with the AAA rate, but they cannot add a package to that for you. The only, and I repeat only way to get the AAA discount plus the package is by calling AAA and speaking with a travel agent there.

The discount varies depending on the resort and season, but it's a discount off the room portion part of that package. To give you an idea, when I priced 8 nights with hoppers and the DDP for 5 of us in July at the Polynesian, AAA saved me close to $400 off the price Disney quoted me. Of course, the Polynesian is a really expensive room, so the discount is larger than it would be if we were staying at another resort.

But again, if you want a package with the AAA discount included, you must call AAA directly. Disney cannot do that for you.

Yes.. you can transfer your current reservation with your AAA rates to a AAA TA.. they call it a "take over". Go to a AAA and tell them you need them to take over your reservations, and you want to add tickets and dining... you sign papers for them to take it over. Remember that once they take over your ressies you can no longer make any changes yourself, you must go through the AAA TA.

Good Luck
