I finally decided three weeks ago that I was going to the World in early December. When I called to get Chef Mickey's ADR, they were booked. Would it even be worth my while to try to walk up and get a table for a solo? Or should I not even bother?

If it wouldn't be worth my time...what restaurant would you suggest for my arrival night? I'm not planning to go in the parks, btw. I also planned this night to go to the GF to see the gingerbread house.

Thanks a bunch for your knowledge!

I wouldn't bother trying to walk-up. But I would continue to call at least weekly between now and the actual trip. People cancel all the time.

It's always worth it to try. Just be prepared for either a long wait or to be told they aren't taking walk ups.

Since you are planning on going to the Grand Floridian anyway, check out the Grand Floridian Cafe or the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. Both would be on the monorail loop.

Have you eaten at Chef Mickey's? As a solo adult I wouldn't even want to eat there. We found the food to be so-so but the character interaction good and the parade/napkin thing to be fun for the kids. If I were a solo in the MK area I would try to get a ressie for Cali Grill, Artist Point, or Narcoosees. If I didn't want to spend that much I'd go with Kona or the GF Cafe

If you have your heart set on going, I would call call call. Like a pp said, people cancel all the time, so you might still be able to get a table.

I called 4 times yesterday b/c I wanted Cinderellas Royal Table in less than 2 weeks away......on the 4th call there was an opening.:cool1: So keep calling!!!!!!!!

If you want to get in for 5:00 then I suggest you go around 4:30 and get in line. You should get in then. Everytime I did it I got in and we were 14.

I have always wanted to go during that time of year. Let me know how your trip went. I would continue to call because people do cancel. I know last year I decided on certain restaurants and then after seeing reviews, food porn pictures, and menus I decided to change my ressie to another restaurant. I think people do that all the time. Wish you the best of luck on getting the ADR of your choice.

I've been calling every day for 3 weeks to try to get LTT for dinner on 12/9 and nothing! They've been booked since day 178 from our arrival. I couldn't believe it. I'm not giving up though, I'll keep calling and if it doesn't work out, so be it. We've got ressies at Rainforest Cafe at AK, but would love to do LTT since we've never done it before and the characters won't be available after Jan. 5, 2009.

Nice to see I'm not the only one just getting December booked! I've been pretty lucky with ADRs. I called over this past weekend & booked Tutto Italia, a CP package @ Coral Reef, breakfast @ Chef Mickey's. Not bad for a party of 7!! I still have one more to schedule, but don't know where to go. I'd love the castle or LeCellier, but don't think either will happen. Maybe 1900 Park Faire???:confused3

We didn't make any of our bookings for dining until we were actually in country - not on purpose, more due to a lack of information.
We managed to get reservations for Whispering Canyon Cafe and a breakfast at the Grand Floridian for the days that we wanted them.
We wouldn't do it this way again though as we have accepted that it was more luck than judgement that prevailed on this occassion.
