Has anyone from Canada purchased through restaurant.com? We are eating at House of Blues in October in Anaheim and there is a good deal on gift cards, but not sure how it works if you have a Canadian address for billing etc? Plus redeeming their gift certificates sounds a little convoluted. Has anyone successfully purchased from them before and if so can you give me some tips/walk me through it? lol Thanks!

I've done it many times. It's no big deal. You buy what every certificate you want, just be sure that you understand the terms, and then present it at the restaurant before you order. I don't remember whether the site accepts a Canadian address. If it doesn't I have used my street and number plus niagara falls, NY.

I'm not sure if there are still discount codes around but you used to be able to get % off codes that could lower the price of the certificate by 40-80%. I have a bunch of old ones(they never expire) that cost me $2 for $25 worth of food.

I just logged in to my account and I see that the address boxes are blank but that the NY zipcode I use is there. So I think that probably I did it the way I mentioned with a partial american address.

I have used them for probably over ten years. No issues redeeming even old ones. When some place comes out of the system, they let you know. And give you the opportunity to reissue elsewhere. But there have been periods where someone was not actively selling their restaurant on there and they have still redeemed years old certificates from me. I've phoned beforehand, but I don't even believe that would have been a problem regardless.

As far as the address issue, I asked them to check for me and they gave me their own address, restaurant.com's, to use.

And some places are way more of a bargain than others, so read the fine print. Also, do not forget about DD area hotel restaurants.

I still have about twenty in the system from years ago.

Enjoy.

Thank you!
When I look at House of Blues it says "minimum purchase $100" Does that mean I need to purchase $100 worth of certificates or I need to purchase $100 worth of food at the restaurant? Some of the other gift certificates have minimums as well but they all say "minimum purchase of x-amount at the restaurant".

We thoroughly enjoyed our House of Blues meal and used our voucher from restaurants.com. We did have to order $100 worth of food which was kind of fun....usually I'm trying to cut costs. It was odd to encourage the kids to order more expensive dishes!

Thanks @twinkletoe ! $40 for $100 worth of food (even if it's USD$) is a fab deal. Even better since Restaurants.com is on ebates.com and I get cash back, too!

I've booked through that website for the house of Blues. Worked fine for me. I had a $50 gift certificate that I paid $20 for .... Four of us ate (and drank) and cost ~$105 before tip. Worked out to saving over $30. I plan to do this again next year. I also have one for the One80 Sports grill .... but they never seem to be open when I dropped by (Might be okay of one is nocturnal). House of Blues is worth it.

I also have s few more for HoB and they let us include the alcohol in the minimum required.

Not sure if they still do this but they used to have a half price appetizer happy hour. 3-5pm I think. If you can get the cerificate that requires the $50 purchase you can easily make dinner with the appy's(most are $10) and not have to spend any additional money beyond the tip.

Can you give me some examples of the DD area hotel restaurants to look for on there?

So am I only allowed to use one gift certificate at a time for HOB? I can't buy two $50 certificates and use them both on the same restaurant bill?

I typed too quickly as I now see that only one of them still exists, although I carry a couple in my account. My apologies.

Kook Sports Bar - I believe it is at Buena Vista Palace Just looked it up it must be called
one80 Sportgrill & Bar now and is there.

And I have Giraffe Cafe, but that must be gone as it was when Hotel Royal Plaza existed.

Decided to pass on the GC. There is a $100 minimum (I know that includes alcohol) but we looked at the menu and priced out a few dishes. We won't be spending $100 there so the gift card deal is no good to us.
