Hi:

We were already to go on our October trip, til this past weekend. After hearing the Attorney General Ashcroft saying to be prepared for another terrorist attack, as all the people involved in that terrible attack on Sept ll. are not caught. We will be driving, but I am wondering what others are doing, still going or postponing for a year or so?

Deb.

we leave October 25 for 9 days at the Boardwalk Villas. We are flying out of Buffalo, and as of right now, we have no plans to change our flights. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well!

Yep, we are going. 22 days and counting. We are also flying! I am not
afraid of the flight, but am concerned about being so far away from home. No use living your life in fear. We are really excited about going and will have a great time while we are there. Staying at the HIKS hope its good.

We head down on the 7th of Dec for 2 weeks no way are we postponing our trip we can't wait. The only way we won't go is if they close WDW and we know how unlikeley that is so it is onward and upward.

We are flying out in March for a stay at BW. Have no intention of cancelling!!!

We're going in January. We had considered canceling, but we decided that if we begin living our lives based on these incidents - then bin Laden has already won.

and we just can't wait. We still plan on going for a two week vacation to the Sunshine State Nov. 3-17. Starting with four days at Disney, a week of sight-seeing and beach, and we finish with 4 more days at Disney staying at ASMo. My husband flies for work, in fact he is in Chicago right now, and we can't afford to show any fear or concern in front of our children. I am confident that the new measures at airports will help to protect flyers. I am not afraid to be in the US if they begin to fight, after all we are Canadians - their friends. I am concerned about ccutbacks in park hours/parades etc. After all I am paying just as much as someone who went to the parks before Sept.11. It is a catch-22, in that I don't want the parks to be crowded but higher attendance will mean more perks.

I would like to make a comment on the American support which is evident in our City. The local news paper published American flags for people to put in their windows in support. Only a few days after the attack, our kindergarten class at our school had made American flags for a bulletin board display, and the Grade 3's wrote essays and drew pictures of the heroism of the firefighters and police officers. Student's in Grade 6 sold red/white/blue ribbons to raise money for the Red Cross. The core being of each of us was affected in someway by this horrible attack, but life must be lived to be enjoyed.

We were all set to go on Dec.3-7 untill we discovered the Media will be there on the event that was cancelled from Oct. Not only is that going on but some football and cheerleading compition as well. Along with the Regis showbeing tapedthen from MGM. No thanks, i refuse to be trampled by teenagers and suffer the early closing of some parks to the media.
We now are booked Jan. 13- 19 and as luck will have it we ordered tickets to see a shuttle launch from KSC on the 17. We can only hope all this works out.

The football and cheerleading comp is for all young kids and they stay at All Star Resorts it is for 3 or 4 days we are there the same time as them every year and they have never caused any problems. They are almost always with coaches etc at Wide World of Sports for competition and when they do hit the parks it is all Chaparoned and very orderly. These kids are up to 6th grade if I remember correctly so they really aren't a problem. You really shouldn't let that bother you plus with the media and Regis being there you get some pretty cool ops for seeing shows and stuff. We will be there from the 8th to the 19th can't wait

I ordered car passes for a shuttle launch for our trip in November, and received them but the launch has been postponed. I have car passes (only) for STS 108 & STS109, if you are unable to get the tickets you want, send me a pm if you are interested in either of these.

Hey thanks very much, that's very nice of you.
Sounds like you are a vet at seeing launches, any tips?
STS109 is our launch on Jan. 17 at 4am. We also have a car pass(well i ordered it and they had plenty left) and plan to rent a car for the day and drive from WDW. Do you really have to be at KSC 4hrs. before launch to board those buses? Can you tell me a bit about the set up at the Cape and how it works out. Are the veiwing spots great and will there be a crowd for a 4 am launch. i'd appreciate any info i can get.

I can talk the talk, but I can't walk the walk. Sorry, but I've never been to a shuttle launch before. I did get lots of information from their website though. Try www.ksc.nasa.gov. Lots of details about the missions. Perhaps if you post under Orlando Attractions, or try a search here, I'm sure I've read things in the past about KSC.

I'll be offering up the two passes that I have later in the year, when my own trip is over and I am in my "Done Disney Depression".

As time passes, I feel better about going to Florida. We humans are wonderfully adaptable beings, we can handle a lot! God Bless!

This is the first flight for our 3 children so the thought of cancelling had crossed our minds. They are young enough (8,6,3) that I wouldn't want to add too much stress but the excitement of WDW is bigger than their fears.
