Any BAD Disney Rest?

Cap'n Jacks at Downtown Disney was GODawful. We had dinner there last night and even my ds's grilled cheese was bad. But fortunately every other meal we've had (even counter service) has been great I just want to spare others a bad meal!

I agree with the others that it all comes down to personal taste, and just about every restaurant has at least one person who would call it BAD.

For me, those that would fall under the BAD (never, ever eat there again) category are:

Fulton's
Bongos (worst meal I have ever had at WDW)

I must agree with other posters - San Angel and Cap'n Jacks are the only two places in tons of visits that we've had terrible meals. San Angel Inn used to be a pleasant experience, but has declined. The last time we were there the food was below Taco Bell quality and we thought our waiter got kidnapped.

Cap'n Jack's has delightful strawberry margarita's but stop there! The food is terrible. And Fulton's, a popular mention, has good food in our opinion, but the nasty servers have a way of draining the enjoyment right out of it. As we haven't eaten at these places for several years, I'd be interested in knowing if any of these issues have been addressed resulting in some changes. San Angel Inn's sharp decline is the saddest - the atmosphere is so lovely.

In addition to people having different/individual tastes, I think you have to consider "factor x"!!

"Factor x" is that unknown - change of chef, wait staff having a bad day, unexpected guest #s (high or low), etc, etc, etc.

We really disliked our meal at Chef Mickey's. The food was dried out & generally lousy - buffet or not, there was little to recommend it. That's the only meal I can think of that we've ever disliked the food.

As far as service & other problems.....Backyard BBQ & Rainforest come to mind.

I think, though, that with Rainforest you need to keep in mind that it isn't "Disney" and doesn't seem to have the same standards re: service. Our lunch took longer than ANY character meal we've ever done!

I agree, Factor X is all important.

We always enjoy Marrakesh, but this most recent trip it didn't live up to expectations. I don't think it was the food (although I really can't remember). We got seated in the back corner of the restaurant, couldn't see the bellydancer, had a slow waiter. My son didn't want to sit still and my daughter had me take her to the bathroom three times during the meal. Then a party of 20 got seated right next to us (without enough room for me to push my chair back) and the service got worse and we couldn't hear our own party talk. The food could have been fantastic - but the "Factor X's" in that meal were not condusive to me enjoying a meal.

However, it did accomplish one thing - we always went to Marrakesh - but we went to so many good restaurants this last trip that my husband is now more eagar to try new things and less dependant on the "old standbys we know are good."

Our least favorties are Pepper market Grill and Teppanyaki Grill. Pepper Market grill food was just nasty and we all ordered from different stations. We ended up going to Beaches and Cream and ordering another meal. We were disappointed with Teppanyaki but I think that is because we eat alot of Japanesse food and didn't find the food as authentic as we liked.

I agree with the X Factor on our trip in 2001 we went to the 1900 Park Faire and had an amazing meal, the food was good, the service was great and we had a great time. We went again in 2002 for my DD 5th birthday and the buffett was so crowd you could barely get into get food, the lady carving the meat didn't know what she was doing which was causing an even bigger line. The food itself didn't taste as good and the service was slow. So you never know what can happen.

We've never had a really awful sit-down meal, although the quality at a couple of places is inconsistent--great burgers at sci-fi one year, very dry and icky the next.
As for counter service, I agree with a previous poster--the ABC commissary at MGM served us the absolute worst Disney food we have ever had.

The only restaurant we will NEVER, NEVER try again is Hollywood and Vine. Not only was the food and service AWFUL, but all three of us got sick after the meal.

We weren't too thrilled with the food at Cindy's for breakfast, either. We much prefer Princess Storybook for dining with the princesses.

We don't like Sci Fi in MGM worse food and overpriced.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Counter service:

ABC Commissary--fish n chips were swimming in grease; so were
the kids' chicken strips. Almost inedible (and
I'm one who doesn't mind a bit of grease now
and then!).

Counter service place in China (EPCOT)--hardly any selection;
the entrees were really watery and over-sweet
and IMO weren't nearly as nicely prepared
as the Chinese in our mall food court. The
egg rolls were pretty good, though.

do not as a rule care for wdw fast food burgers but the worst was backlot express ..inedible, looked like one of the dancing hippos sat on it with the flattened bun stuck to the poor little gray patty of ?meat

San Angelo at one time (12 or so years ago ) was great REAL mexican food ( Pork Adobo was superb) not glorified over priced taco bell..although the family we went with that time wanted tacos so they would like it now. I thought that was what the cantina was for... too bad cause I love the setting, very romantic ( a little more light maybe but not a whole lot else would be needed) do not understand the whims of disney sometimes . last time we went having visions of the pork and got "mediocre chi chi's" and the menu looks even worse now.

Last trip, ABC Comissary (way too expensive side dishes for quality) and Donald's Breakfastausrus (spelling) were bombs - DB was so bad, I was quite shocked by the poor quality of the experience - will not go back there again

On the + side was pleasantly surprised and my expectations exceeded at Kona Cafe (Dinner) and Contemporary Steakhouse (Breakfast and Dinner)

Thanks

Most food in DW is great, the only two places I would never eat at again are Sci Fi Drive In and the Hoop De Doo. Both were horrible and over priced.

Disliked Alfredo's in Epcot and Hollywood & Vine in MGM.
Also, not so crazy about Spoodles...its ok, just not great

Not only the worst meal we had at WDW,but qute possibly the worst meal in my life. Horrid from star to finish.

Pepper Market - my family has gotten sick after eating here three different times. That is too many to be a coincidence!

Sci Fi - Overpriced, dried out food.

Tony's - RUDE waiter, small portions

Concourse Steakhouse Breakfast - just didn't impress my family - food or atmosphere.

My worst was Beaches and Cream. Had a cheeseburger which had no flavor and then I ordered the No Way Jose sundae. Due to our server, who was too busy talking to her coworkers to check on her orders, it was halfway melted by the time I got it, which I really hate! :( It's a cute place, and I would go back for a Diet Coke and and order of fries or something, but that's all.

Another yuck for Chef Mickey's dinner. We were there a couple of weeks ago, and the food, was just plain awful. It wasn't that bad the first time. My 8Y.O. really wanted to go there again. The characters were great, but we will never do dinner there again.

My CRT breakfast was cold. I found the trick there is to order the cheese stuffed danish, without the blueberry. They come out fresh and hot. I kept some blueberry off to the side, from the first plate, and used it over the hot danish. Made that meal much more enjoyable.

We love Tonys Town Square and Love Garden Grill. I really wanted to go to San Angel Inn in Epcot because the atmosphere looked so nice... So we went and the food was AWFUL!!! We will never go there again. We also liked the Biergarten in Epcot. I also here the Crystal palace is good for families and kids. We will be going there this Christmastime.:earsboy: :earsgirl: pirate: ::MinnieMo
