Any advice on a good at-home blood pressure monitor?

Hello, everyone!

I am in need of an at-home blood pressure monitor. Obviously, I'd like one that's as reliable as possible, but without breaking the bank. It doesn't have to come with a lot of bells and whistles, but a cuff that is adjustable to fit a larger arm would be nice.

I tried to do a search on here to see if this sort of item had been previously discussed but I couldn't find anything. I've also looked online at a few monitors sold on Amazon, but there are soooo many. So, I thought I'd ask here for suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

When I had to monitor mine during my pregnancy I got one from CVS. It was automatic (put on cuff, push button) and stored the numbers. I believe it was $20/25.

Same as above poster I got a quite simple one from the pharmacy at the grocery store when I was pregnant. My son is 4 years old now and he likes to play with it and it still seems reliable (with battery changes of course).

Mine is Life Fitness brand. I think it's from Publix or CVS. I asked the pharmacist for a recommendation. It seems to work well.

I have had a couple. The first one I had for 5 years.

No matter which one you get, be sure and take it to your Doctor to make sure the numbers are in sync with what they have.

When I had to monitor mine, my doctor told me to get an Omron. It's a bit more expensive, but it's suppose to be more accurate. Costco use to have good deals on them.

We have an Omron one that while it costs a bit more, is very accurate. I was just at the doctor's today and my bp at home was within a couple of points of what the Dr got. DH has borderline high bp and takes his bp often. It's right on the money. Don't skimp and buy cheap, but as others said, you can take it to your Dr and compare the readings to see how accurate it is.

My DH uses a Lifesource UA851. He did get it from the dialysis center, but the nurse said they sell them all over the place.

He's a big guy, and it fits him with room to spare.

We bought a $19.95 one from Amazon, it is a wrist cuff and works great. We had it in our house in less than a week.

I got a coupon from a Harbor Frieght ad and bought my bp cuff there.
It is a wrist cuff and if you dont position your arm right as per the directions it wont read right.... Which results in alot of people not liking it or saying it doesnt work.... If you do it right though it does work.

My doc didnt believe such a cheap cuff could possibly be accurate.
He had me bring it to his office where his nurse ran my bp on their cuff and mine over and over several times. Every single time they were within a few points of each other.

The cuff is a WristTech and Harbor Frieght has them on sale/coupons for them all the time. The coupons are always cheaper than the sale price.

harborfreight dot com and search for blood pressure (I cant post links yet)

I have seen the coupons as low as 12.99 but alot (most) of the time they are 14.99 or higher. You can find the coupons in alot of magazines, Readers Digest and American Rifleman, are where I get mine. They have them online sometimes too as a printable item. There is also alot of 20% off coupons if that works out to a better price.
