I loooove the Antiques Roadshow!! Has anyone ever been to one in person and had anything appraised? I would love to go but as far as I know, they've never come to Louisville.

They've never come to Lexington either, but if they come to either Lexington or Louisville I'll see you there because I'd love to go too!

They were in Tampa, Fl. last year and I considered getting a ticket, but when I heard how many people would be there I opted out. The news showed them standing for hours in lines, some of them hauling heavy items. No thanks ~~ I'll enjoy the show from my living room. I didn't really have anything that interesting to bring in anyhow.

I have a friend whose daughter went to the one in Tampa.
And it was an allllll day wait. Very tedious. They found out interesting history on their items. They ended up not being what they thought, and not worth near as much as they thought.
One piece they thought was old carnival glass. It turned out to be a reproduction from the 1960's or 70's. (I forget the year time frame she was told.)
Another was an antique rifle that was not as old as they thought.
But I think they found it interesting to find more of the true origin of their pieces.

Since I work for the producing station I got to skip the five hour first intake line in Providence RI a few years ago. I found out some interesting things about a couple of silver items I inherited from an aunt. The one antique I ever bought for myself, an art deco vanity set with mirror, brush, comb etc turned out to be worth just about what I paid for it years before. It was fun but the process is a lot of waiting in a pretty tedious series of lines, especially if you have different types of items.

I had some stuff appraised here in Providence back in June. It was very interesting but lots and lots of standing in line waiting. I saw some people with some really cool stuff and found out my book was worth a lot more than I thought it was worth.
