Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

No, you are not the only one who feels that way!
I think a yahoo group is a great idea!

Count me in too, I have tried to find other message boards or threads referencing Expo TV just to get ideas and information from other reviewers. The more input we have from others doing this the better jobs we can do with our own videos.
So who is going to set it up? Anyone have experience with that?

I have set up a yahoo group...I wouldn't mind doing so for this...I definitly could use the help/support/etc.... I'm in the middle of workign on a website right now, but if you'll give me about an hour, I'll come back and post the informaiton.

How do you review a Wii game?

See- my setup was all in my son's bedroom since he doesn't ever USE it- so I'd review things from my comfy seat in there and talk about the items. My camera doesn't have a tripod, so I'd set it on my shoe rack ;) and film.

Now, it seems like they are so picky that I'd need a tripod to shoot any of the things I want to show. I can't hold my camera steady enough to get good shots of things otherwise!

My husband has been reviewing the games while I hold the camera and my son will be playing the games.
My husband is sitting by the TV and talks about the game being played by our son.
Our Wii system is our in basement living area so we have a slightly bigger area to work with.

Now I just uploaded these this morning so I have no idea if this will be good enough. I uploaded 8 different Wii games. I don't want to do too many more incase they are rejected.

My son also has a Playstation 2 system in his bedroom. His bedroom is small and kind of darkish (blue room). We did review his Guitar Hero but I am a little worried they are going to say it is too dark. I am waiting to see if that will be rejected before we do more Playstation games. My son has TONS of Playstation games.

We are doing the same thing. I started out videoing my dh playing the games but he kept getting too distracted and wouldnt talk so I had to call in DS to take over and promise him some expo money for the job. Im not going to do anymore until I see if these get approved.

SUPER! :thumbsup2 Thank you so much for doing this! I am not sure we are allowed to post the name of the group here. Anyone know? Perhaps through PM? I think in order for it to work, the group needs to be private (not public) with only DISers that are also expo TV users being able to join (to avoid what happened here with that john.irving person). Oops, don't mean to sound bossy.:goodvibes I am looking forward to this! :)

Perhaps you are right! I amm sometimes afraid they will take out their aggressions on us via rejections when they read our "constructive critism" of the way they do things.

Come on peeps watch my crazy mug in my reviews :)

And yes at the very least we will get $100.

Funny you should say this. Last month DH posted the "does anyone else feel cheated thread" over there and right afterwards he got loads of rejections for stupid reasons and their word ended up being final. I kind of felt the same way and was a bit afraid to say too much this month for fear of all of mine getting rejected for August.

Yep. And don't think they don't read this thread too. Afterall, as far as I can tell, it is the only one like it anywhere, except for their own forum. tink

Ok now im curious about something. When I went back and looked at my rejections for my travel reviews this was one of them:

Cannot verify that you own product

Now this statement leads me to believe that they could say this about any product we are reviewing. How would we actually prove we owned a product we are physically holding in our hands? I mean wouldn't that be proof enough? So now Im thinking are they going to start asking for proof of purchase or something? Are they afraid that people are going to other people's houses and reviewing items now?

We have a room like that too! :) I was planning on taking a lamp in there and maybe taking the shade off. tink

:sad2: Well for as much critisicm they have received here you would think they would take some of our advice and change some things.

Are they afraid that people are going to other people's houses and reviewing items now?

Let's hope anyone doing this has the good sense to review the product in a closet, where, chances are, the original owner has not been filming. KIDDING! JUST KIDDING! :lmao: But I think they might check someone's referral or friend list if they were suspicious. So be careful who your friends are. KIDDING! JUST KIDDING!

But on that note, my DIL just received a nice camera for her birthday from her mom and sister. Her sister's birthday was the following week and she received the same camera from my DIL and her mom. So if they sign up for expo, are on each other's friend/referral list, and review the same camera, would they be at risk of rejection? tink

I read their rules really carefully. If you live with a person, you cant do same reviews but if you have a different address , then its okay I guess.

OK...just went back and read the recommendation not to post the URL so I'll just say it's created...send me a PM if you want to join. :)

ksloane- you've been pm'ed. ;)

I am hoping someone will post when they have their first dvd review approved/rejected. I did one last night and uploaded it- I just set up the camera, then I had the tv in the background and showed a clip- the clip wasn't very good, and the quality wasn't great with trying to film a tv, but that is why I only did one- we'll see what happens from there.

Expo sounds like it might be what I need, it sounds kinda tough to get approved but I could really use some wedding money so I'm signing up! Im reading this whole thread for tips on how to do this.

I have to head out for the rest of the afternoon/evening for family "get togethers." I'll be back tonight and respond to PM's and approve everyone for the new group.

I have sent the link to:
arb34@mchsi.com
tinkerbellmagic
Mellie2162
FirstTimertoDiz

So if you want you can PM them for the link this afternoon. I'll be sure to approve everyone as soon as I get home tonight. I'm so excited that we'll all be able to use this group!!

I think a yahoo group is a great idea!

There is another forum too...it's free and similar to this forum. PM me for ideas or I don't mind help setting it up. I run a local moms group so am used to the forum.

Did anyone ever get an answer about the chain restaraunts whether or not you have to physically be there or could you do the review from home?

I am waiting for that too. We have tons of DVDs that we could review but I am waiting to see what the ones that are approved look like before we start working on those.
