Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

just a heads up to some of the newer users of expo- we have another thread here on the budget board with a list of disboard members that are on expos. its great to subscribe to their videos and put them on your friends list, because remember, every view your video gets earns you another penny!! lol...a penny isn't much, but we know what a formidable force we disers are, and ive been amazed at the amount ive earned just from views...its pretty neat!! also, you are entered into their iphone sweepstakes by giving raves to videos, so i usually watch the videos on my friends/subscribers list to rack up their pennies and increase my chances of winning!! if you havent already, check out that thread here

Well more rejections for DH today. He's getting very aggravated with them now. They seem to really be picking apart his vids and we have emailed them several times with no response so I guess we are out of luck and at this point Im not going to upload these videos again and get paid 2 dollars for them, forget it.

I'm up to 23 approvals for August! 18 - $10 approvals and 5 - $2 approvals, so a total of $190 so far. With many, many more STILL pending. . . . . . . :hourglass :rolleyes1

Since I've gotten the whole audio & video sync problem figured out I have only had 2 rejections. One was because it was too similar to another video I did. I did both my sons bikes because they are different sizes, but I think they were rejected because they are the same brand. :confused3 The other was "insufficient info" for a bicycle helmet. . . not sure why the info wasn't good enough.

I am starting to get impatient.

I've submitted 50 reviews so far. 15 have been approved, but I haven't had an approval since last week and I feel down about it. I guess I got really too excited when I started getting emails saying my reviews were approved! :rotfl2:

I started making travel reviews. I taught myself iMovie over the weekend and wrote, edited and downloaded two reviews. One on a hotel we love, the other on our favorite restaurant in Palm Springs.

I have 11 other travel reviews at home that need polishing and editing. I was over the moon yesterday when I found out how to get the audio to match the video. Considering I work in audio and am responsible for ADR stages, this was really, really funny.

I think I want to be Samatha Brown when I grow up. I even watched her shows this weekend to try and get her cadence and sentence structure down for my reviews.

I just wanted to say hang in there! I have my 100 in and approved, DH has his 100 in and 46 approved, 2 rejected but one was my fault, I put the wrong video with it, the 2nd I guess I am to blame to, it was white cloud diapers and they said not nationally distrubuted. I get them at walmart but can't argue, I don't know for a fact if they are or not. So hang in there all! There is MONEY at the end of the frustrations!

My husband and I are on a roll. He just received notice of an approval. That means all 100 videos were approved!!!  Together we have 400 approved without one rejection!!!

Just a warning for those of you doing travel reviews, i had about 10 rejected this week and I emailed because the reason was "original footage and/or pictures need to be included". Well I HAD included about 5-6 pictures each. The problem was I am now told is that I wasn't in them, my family was (kids, husband, etc.). For each travel review make sure you have at least one picture of yourself at the location. Lesson learned, I re-did them last night. Up to over 400 dollars so far and still have a TON pending, hoping to get my 1000 this month baby!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

How would you suggest doing travel reviews with pictures? Recording yourself with the digital camera while showing pictures?

I have about 40-50 in so far. I had some trouble in the beginning with converting some videos, so had to start over again. I am trying to do as many $10 as possible! (I missed out on the baby stuff with the troubles).

I have 5 approved so far with the rest pending. I had to rerecord a lot of them because I did not save the orginals after I converted them.

TIA!

Thanks for the warning. I have several still in pending and I was a little worried that maybe they would be rejected. Some of these dont have me in it but do have my daughter who also does reviews on my account so maybe they will accept them, lets hope. For the longest time I couldnt preview them but today I am able to. Expo is really weird sometimes.

Brooke what I do when I have pictures is just sit in front of the camera and talk about the place while showing the pictures..sometimes I talk about what im showing or just show pictures while talk about the place in general. My travel reviews pretty much stink because I get sidetracked and cant remember stuff. On the stuff I had video of I basically stood by the tv while the video played. I kept the volume down on the tv and talked about what I was reviewing. On stuff that I had digital pictures of I used another Dis'er idea and made a movie narrating it.

Same here! They seem to be rejecting everything that I could redo and only get $2 for (pets and crafts) and accepting everything else. Very fishy considering all the videos are made in the same place with the same equipment every time.

I also had three rejected for not being nationally distributed so I found several places where the items could be purchased in stores as well as online and haven't heard back from them.

DH has had 8 rejections for not nationally distributed or insufficient product information. The ones that were insufficient product info we wrote to them and asked what they specifically were looking for since he described the product completely and gave his opinion of what he liked about the product. We are having trouble finding some of the fishing lures that he bought, so I guess we have to eat those. Oh well.

For travel videos, this is what I've been doing:

I look over our digital travel photo file and I group the photos together in iMovie per subject. I have the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, for example. I arrange the photos into a story, showing the outside first, then I sprinkle them with interior photos, picking out some that has me in it!

I then write copy and narrate to the photos and I include some facts on each place from their website such as date built and how many rooms. Then, I take the audio and tweak it to fit the pictures so that when I'm talking about the fountains, you see the fountains. Then, once it is all done, I add transitions and effects, like fade-ins and outs, and zooms and overlapping pictures and fun things, trying to create a story and zoom in on pictures that need a zoom.

Then, I record an intro and add that to the front as in "Hi, this is Ursula reporting on the Hyatt Regencey NEWPORT BEACH!" Then, I save it then I import it for the web which makes a QT then I change it to .avi and voila that gets updated to Expotv.

But, none of my travel videos have been approved yet so don't listen to me.

On the subject of Travel videos - I did 4 with on-location footage at Hershey PA a few weeks ago and they were all approved. I did 8 Disney travel videos with just holding up pictures of myself and my family at each place and so far 4 have been approved and 2 have been rejected (they said they couldn't see me well enough in the pictures) and the other 2 are still pending.

So if you are like me and don't know how to make them the fancy way with making a narrated movie-type video, then just make sure you are showing yourself in the pictures and are in good lighting so everyone can see you in the picture!

Just wanted to say I GOT 2 of my 3 APPROVED!!!!!!!!

The first one i ever did was rejected as video was too dark (expected) the other two were out of sync on the preview but n'sync on my computer... they were both approved, and I got a $8 category bonus for one them to boot! so I now have $12 in my account for 2 videos. I am going to be reviewing A LOT more things now that I know i am doing things right with them!!!  :cool1:

Um, have they released the details of next month's promotion yet? (Details- not just about the tiered system). I guess I COULD just start shooting videos and saving them- to upload next month. Hmmm...

Slightly worried here:confused3 ...anyone else seeing odd things on Expo TV? Like once last week I clicked on videos and actually got someone else's pending video page...they had been busy but it definately wasn't mine. Today, I clicked on videos to see when I had uploads the last 5 (two were approved but I have 5 more that are still pending)...and they aren't there!:sad2: :scared:

I'm still waiting on approvals for vids from 8/18. I just started a new job so I prob won't do any more vids this month. I wanted to do at least 50 $10 vids but unless I get a huge burst of energy in the next day or two, it's not going to happen.

I got too excited to fast I think... I did 5 more videos tonight but I can't upload them... The site does it whole ordeal but then either goes back to the aggreement page and then upload page or the error message that says 7,600KB is MORE than 50MB large? Oh really, I was not aware of that fuzzy math?
