Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

I'm only affiliated with ONE thing and it's a certain pet food company- no worries there- I haven't reviewed our food :)

I don't work for the petstore or anything like that- although I do shop there a lot!

(PS- I read the rules when I signed up. I AM playing by the rules- as long as I don't review anything made by OUR company!)

This whole affiliation thing has me confused. I thought expo said you cannot do reviews for products if you are affiliated with anyone who works for that company. And I thought it said you cannot review items from other companies competing with that product. So I was wondering, if my son lives here and works for a company that sells let's say, potato chips, does that mean that I cannot reiview potato chips from his company nor chips from competing companies because I am affiliated with him??? thanks, tink

I feel everyone's pain :sad1:

All of my first ones were rejected, and I'm just waiting for the rest to be rejected for "poor sound quality." For some reason, NONE of them have sound. What am I doing wrong????? I've got 35 up and they're all worthless.

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

You know, I can't help but think it is NOT US.

I'm not sure! It would seem that the biggest issue would be conflict of interest- of course, you shouldn't be paid to make reviews of a product that you've created or are already endorsing (through your work)- but it makes no sense to say you cannot make a review of potato chips because your son works for a chip company!

YAY for me!!

My first video was just approved and is ready to view! I didn't want to do any others for fear of me doing something wrong.

I wish I could help others on the technical end. I have an iMac and I just use the camera on it and format it for the web. It made it the right size for me so that this dork of a non-techie is able to make some extra cash for our WDW trip next month.

I am Ursula at expotv, please take a look and see how silly I look!

Handbag Lady,

Are you able to upload your videos from your iMac to ExpoTV? I do mine on the Mac also, but then I end up e-mailing them to my PC because I can't get them to upload on the Mac.

The only one I've done so far is from the 8th and it was approved just this morning.

I still have videos from July 31st pending! They rejected a few today as expected, but they sure are taking their sweet time about it! :sad1:

Can someone please help me with Windows Movie Maker? Everytime I try to move a video to the story board, the program closes out. I can move pictures to the story board just fine. What could I be doing wrong?:confused3 The videos are MPEG files.
TIA

Try this site and see if maybe its a certain codec that is keeping you from downloading the MPEG file: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308464

As far as you all having problems with the audio/video sync-are you able to preview it after you've uploaded it to there site? And if you have, was the audio/video in sync when you previewed it? And have you been running other programs on your computer when you are uploading? Because I have noticed that when I am trying to save a video to my computer at the same time I am videoing another one, my video/audio seem to be out of sync.

I am so excited, I have like 25-30 uploaded and will working on some more over the week and weekend! My 5 year old is a big help with pushing the button to start the camera and stop it!

I'm going to re-upload one of my videos that was rejected and see if it will preview for me with sound. I can't figure out what could be wrong! If it still doesn't preview right, I'll try something else. It only took about 30 seconds to upload this time. Maybe when the site isn't jammed it will work better :confused3

After making 37 videos, I want to at least figure out how to upload them. I'm upset that I wasted all that time uploading before to just have them rejected, but I've come to terms with it... it was too good to be true.

I just hope I can figure this out! :headache:

Well neither me nor Dh got paid today as well. I was really hoping they would finish doing their payouts today but i guess we will be waiting til next week as one other person said they got paid on teh 17th of last month. In any case, I know I should just be happy whenever it is as this is not "depended on" money but still was hoping to have it by this weekend. Oh well. I still need to start working on mine for this month but im so not motivated since they took away the 2 major categories i was going to do vids in and now im left with 2 dollar videos other than some travel reviews. I dont know. should just be happy i guess with whatever i get but was really hoping for that 2000 in september..would have been such a blessing...

That was me. ;) Yeah I wasnt paid till the 17th last month. And I have not been paid yet this month either. :sad2: I was really hoping I would be paid earlier in the week, because My baby needs some school clothes. :scared: And I still have to wait for the 3 days that it takes for my money to get from paypal over to my bank acct.

I've about given up hope on 13 of my videos. I uploaded 15 videos on August 1st. One was rejected which is no surprise because it was a 'test' vid. One was accepted and 12 are sitting there saying video error. Of course they were all uploaded using the same method. Should I give up hope on those?

Is anyone having trouble uploading vids this morning? I am trying to upload some vids and it keep timing out on me! :headache:

I will try again a bit later.

Well, I must be lucky this month. I have had 36 videos approved for August..thankfully all but 6 fell in under the $10 deal because I uploaded them before the deadline. I just uploaded a bunch last night (kind of slower..it was taking almost 5-7 min per vid to upload) I uploaded my previous Aug vids in about 2-3 min each. So, I have a grand total of 92 uploaded or approved. I am going to shoot about 15 more and upload 8 more and then wait and see if any get rejected.

What is everyone reviewing in the $10 catagory? I pulled out some of our camping gear, and some bike accessories we have. I also reviewed a couple of winter toys...that I catagorized under Sports and Outdoors.

I am very curious as to what the Sep promotion will be.

If I get all my 100 this month it will pay for our Disney Tickets whenever we go.:cool1:

Good Luck uploading!!

I'm going to play devil's advocate here- how are they going to know unless someone tells? :coffee: It's not like you are making only videos of that product = you are making videos on lots of different things- I wouldn't worry about it unless "I" worked for a particular company :confused3 Make sure that you have reviews for lots of different brands of "chips" in this case so there is no obvious favortism.

JMHO popcorn::

I've had a couple rejections this and last month that were totally not worthy of rejection-- and for every one I sent them an email, to which they always replied, "our apologies.. mistake on on part.. etc." and they were then approved. So it does pay to email them. For example, they told me I didnt have sufficient information on one product. It was a black and decker blender. I didnt do anything less than I normally did--- I explained how to clean it, where I got it, how much it was, EVERY button on the thing, measuring features, things you can make with it, and the type of container it was. I think they have a quota or something on rejections they should be making, so they make stupid random ones and see whos gonna be a pushover and just take them. I had one before saying someone in my household reviewed my So Sexy shampoo from Victorias Secret. .... I live with my boyfriend, and he definitly did not review it. So after emailing them saying they were wrong they fixed it and credited my account. They're probably getting sick of all my emails, but I'm not going to let them screw me out of money I should be earning.

AND I'm very pleased to say- for the grooming brush and the doggy cologne, they did change my pay and bumped them up to the $10 rate. (Can you believe it- the dog brush was listed under 'gardening supplies'??? Do they even WATCH the vids before they approve them?)

Thanks for the heads up! :grouphug: I e-mailed them about one of mine that was rejected for "poor video quality." If nothing else I'll at least figure out what that oh-so-vague phrase means!

Ok I have a question for Buckeyefan....your travel destinations are absolutely awesome. Ive been watching them now for a few days. How do you do that with the pictures. I want to do some reviews but other than holding the pictures up or sitting in front of the computer I dont have a clue how. I do have some video footage that im going to sit next to the tv and show on some but how do you do that? They are great!

Anyone if you havent had a chance to check them out its under Buckeyefan.....
