Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

STARTING TO PANIC!

Ok someone talk to me. I just went back and clicked on a few of the previews and got two to come up- but there's NO SOUND!!!

Has this happened to anyone else in the preview stage?? I was unsure if it was my computer so I went back to the actual files and played them and they were fine.

Is there something I could have done wrong?? :headache:

Advice please!

Don't panic- I'm doing enough of that for all of us!:rotfl: I have just seen that some of mine say preview but when I hit the preview button- all I get is a white screen :scared1: :scared: at least 33 are now preview and all of them are white???

Can of Corn- that's all I'm going to say for now- CAN OF CORN!:rotfl:

I also will continue to do the videos I'm sure as even $200 a month is $200 I didn't have, but I also will not work as hard at redoing them when I don't think they are good enough, etc.

I STRONGLY encourage everyone to write letters of complaint and contact anyone you know that is a member and encourage them to do so too....There really is power in numbers!!

I composed a brief one and went ahead and sent it in tonight. I am really upset as I have recorded about 30 on my camcorder, but not pulled them off yet thinking I would do that this weekend...And guess what?! I just got home so I did not get to upload ONE of them!!

Here's my letter if anyone wants to see it:
I am sorry to say that I am here to complain. As an individual with a business degree, I am almost appaled at your current practices. How can you offer a promotion for 31 days and already be taking it away in a 1/3 of the time? I say "shame on you." While I can understand that things sometimes do not work out, efforts should be made to live up to your word (and then make the changes next month). In addition, if you simply could not continue as you promised your loyal members, you should have given more than simply 8 hours notice. I would have thought common courtesy would have been to given at least 24 hour notice - probably 48 hours. I have discussed this with various friends (some long time members of your company) and everyone is appalled at this decision.

I would think that a program such as this would depend a lot on loyalty, and I feel that by breaking your word - the one thing a company should stand on - you will lose a lot of your loyalty. People will not tolerate being treated in this manner. In addition, I think you will see people not put as much effort into giving you quality videos. While if you had been upfront and promised them $2, they would have been satisfied, but to cut that by 75% with virtually no notice, you will lose people's faith and that will show in the videos that you do continue to receive.

I urge you to reconsider this decision. Make good on your word. At minimum open up the categories for a couple more days (and give more advanced notice of when those days will begin and end).

Thank you for your time,

See, I was ok when it was just showing a white screen because I figured there was something wrong with the site. Now I can see the picture but there's no sound so I'm afraid all 35 of my videos (12 of which are $10) are wrong and are going to be rejected!! Ah!!

I'm with you on the can of corn. I'd love to talk for a minute about a can of corn and weasel $2 out of Expo for it! :rotfl:

I've slept 3 hours since yesterday at 5pm. I think it might be time for me to let go of Expo a little and go to sleep :lmao:

My wee wittle brain is over thunked today- I'm going to rest on my laurels- good night all and may the video fairy smile on all of us tonight! :thumbsup2

ya know...on the expo site itself..on the home page...it still has the 10 dollar categories listed, and they havent removed any of them....think i should still upload the few i didnt get done before midnight??

I would, hey if the email wasn't sent to everyone then I think it's only fair they would pay out the $10 for those until the information is removed from their website. I think they might be breaking some sort of law there. The site promises $10, but you only get $2...hum.

I just got done uploading my 100th video for August. I already ready have 39 approvals as of today. I love Expo TV.

I did all my games and house wares last week. I’m so glad now. :thumbsup2

Good luck to everyone with their approvals. :wizard:

I have only one pending and NO SOUND for me either. I'm glad it's not only me, makes me fell that it's actually okay. I too played the actual file and it was fine.

the homepage STILL shows all these categories as $10, while yes, it says it on the payment section, who checks that everyday? Had I not found out on here about the change, I would still have no clue. there are probably still a lot of people uploading these things thinking they're OK. They really should have made a statement on their homepage-- thats the professional thing to do. But I guess as we have learned-- they lack those skills anyway.

I totally agree. It sure seems like a bunch of ameteurs running the site. I can't believe the didn't think this promo through better. The huge influx of new people in June and July, many of whom completed the max allowances of videos, should have made them think twice about the promo. Someone on their forum said maybe a $4/$7 balance would have been better. I agree with that. Or even cutting the maximum number of videos down to 50. Or capping the amount of $10 videos we could each complete. I can think of a ton of ways this situation could have been better thought out.

I am currently using a Logitech webcam but directly recording/uploading from Movie Maker. When I play it back before uploading, the video/audio looks fine. This morning the 8 videos I uploaded were finally available to preview and when I play them on the Expo website, the video/audio looks off? I haven't had any approved or denied yet so I am not quite sure if the problem is my computer or the actual videos? Anyone have any tips using Movie Maker with a webcam on how to ensure that the audio/video stays in sync during the uploading process? :confused3

We set up a portable clock with a second hand someplace near the camera. Look at your clock right before you start your review and glance at it periodically. The problem is trying to remember what the number was when you started. It's better to be a little over, than under. Under will get your review rejected.
tink :)

Get yourself a timer and set it for 3 mins and if it goes off before you are done, reshoot. There are really inexpensive digital ones at Target that have nice big digital displays.

We are also heading out to South Dakota next weekend. We plan on doing some reivews on the road.
Do you think each site would be a different review? Like the Corn Palace, Bear Country USA, Mt. Rushmore, Badlands, Wall Drug, etc would each be one separate video? Since it is travel I would think it would be in the $10 slot. Boy we really could get a lot $10 videos done. Plus we are staying in two different hotels during our trip so there is another $20 ;)

I grew up in SD and LOVE it there, during the summer. I still have family living there and make it back every other year or so. Have a great trip!!

I think this change could really backfire on them. How many people are at home glued to the computer on a Friday night waiting for an email from expotv? (besides me:thumbsup2 ). Really though, I think there are going to be some pretty upset folks. Someone that turns on the computer tomorrow and finds out - oh, your $1000 has suddenly become $200. :sad1:

I'm off to video our garage tomorrow - bikes, outdoorsy stuff, things I know nothing about!

Well, I found this thread last night and read the whole thing before signing up on expo. Bummer that they changed the promotion and with that little notice. We have TONS of toys and games and I was really getting excited about reviewing them and making some moolah. I can't embark on any adventure with out doing my homework as DH won't support it if I don't have all the info I need to convince him. I got him on board this am and I came home to finish reading only to find this info. Major bummer! I will probably still do it, even at $2 as I hanen't worked in 2 mos and we need the $$ right now. As some one else said, $2 is better than nothing. I have a whole bunch of jewelery supplies I purchased 2 yrs ago and haven't used up and thought it would be great to get $10 for all the stuff I've been storing.

Maybe they should run their promotions for a week or ten days then extend it if they need more reviews in certain catagories. This would make it possible to get paid more and they don't have to worry about being flooded with too many reviews for a $0.25 box of crayons and having to pay out $10 for the review. Or they should break down the catagories a bit better so that they are paying more for the more expensive items. It's not hard to do a bit of market research and find out an average selling price for things. If they want to pay $2 for items under say $20 or even $40 and more for more expensive items. All new products should get higher paid reviews for the first few months so there is more publicity about them. Well, that's just my opinion. I'll be getting paid for it soon though!

This may sound cheesy but our grocery stores have 10 items for $10 on a regular basis. I told DH that I am willing to purchase and use the items (many that we would anyway) and do the review so the item is basically free! I buy a lot of stuff under $2, especially groceries, so we could eat for next to free each month. :woohoo: :rotfl2:

Has anyone done any reviews from items on the freebie thread? New or favorite products sent to you for free and then $$ for reviewing them, what could be better?? I am always looking for something for nothing......

Well, I'm off to create an we e-mail acct so I don't clog up my main one. And as the saying goes; "I'll see you in the movies!" :happytv:

ExpoTV,

I, like many other, am here to complain.

First of all- you change a promotion 10 days into the month. While you have the right to do so, I must say this is very unprofessional of you. With this decision, there are a number of problems. I for one, never even received an e-mail stating any changes were happening. Had I not gone to a forum I visit I would have never known anything was happening. Even moreso, your homepage states nothing. No statement, no "change of notice." IN FACT, A day later, you still have these categories which you decided to change last minute listed as $10. If you are going to make such changes, at least be up to date. The only place I see you have adjusted these changes is in the variable payment section. Maybe you should be aware that not everyone checks that everyday. If we were told a certain promotion is happening, we have no inkling to think otherwise-- silly of us. Now we have no idea when you can change things without giving proper notice. What really gets to me, however, is the fact that your homepage still has no updates.

And while I am on the topic of proper notice, do you think a couple hours is really doing us a favor? People are not sitting at home waiting for ExpoTV updates on a Friday night, (and even if they were-- there are a number of people who didn't even receive an update from you notifying us of these changes). Choosing to "notify" us when you did, was truely a low blow and I am dissapointed with the choices you made regarging these new changes.

And as for you meeting your quota ahead of time- you had an influx of membership, and instead of embracing this and supporting the people who support you, you instead upset your members. I'm sure you have been seeing this influx BEFORE the start of your August promotion, so you have to had known there would be a lot of reviews coming in. And by making the payments $2 or $10, I would hope its common sense to you that most people are going to aim for $10 items. Obviously those sections are going to fill up faster. Now you leave us with less of those categories- what next? Those start filling up and you pull those too. I can guarentee you that people are going to be pulling to do whats left of the $10 categories.

I must say that your decisions in running your business lack professionalism. I am hopeing you do something to compensate for the feelings of your members, and in the future give proper notification.

I look forward in continuing to work with Expo, and hope that you take your members into consideration more and base your decisions around whats best for your company.

Well there seem to be a lot of people responding over on their forums and most are not happy about the change. Ultimately they can do what they want and we agreed to that but it doesnt stop me from feeling mad about it.

DH and I talked and our goal for this weekend is to go through the other 10 dollar categories and do as many things as we can possibly find and get them uploaded this weekend (expo permitting) before they decide to change that. Ive started making a list of what we have and we will just go down the list and keep going. This will take some time because most of it is outside.

As far as just making 2 a video from now on we will probably do it because 200 each is 400 extra a month and that makes a car payment for me or buys groceries, either way it helps. I will say though that I definitely will just be grabbing stuff here and there and not really putting much effort into it.

What are kid's items, now that toys aren't 10 dollars?

Is like, for example, kid's shampoo or sunblock a kid item? Or does that just count as regular shampoo and sunblock?

Help!

I have no clue. In fact, I think most of their categories have been sort of in the gray area to me since this whole thing started. I would suggest just do a mock upload and see which category your item falls into before do the video.

I am assuming it is things like cribs, carseats, swings, strollers, highchairs, etc... It would be nice if there was somewhere on their site to clairfy it.:confused3

How long before you can preview your video on your pending list? I uploaded several videos last night and under my pending videos it says unavailable. Is that normal or does that mean the video didn't download right? I had a horrible time trying to get the videos downloaded last night and I don't know if it worked. TIA!

My Mom is now on EXPOTV as well, her sn is ShirleyCATS.

I'm still bummed over this pulling of the $10 items. Their home page still shows $10 for those items, weird. Keep sending your emails maybe they will reconsider. How about offering the $10 only to those who signed up before the beginning of the month, etc. Something. I know they have the right to change at any minute but the long term users might be ticked enough to leave now. You go from $5 to $2/$10 to only $2 (for most things). =o(
