This sure is frustrating. Luckily I did 18 vidoes last night and am uploading them now fast and furious before the cutoff, hope I can get em' in, only 2 so far in 15 minutes, it's running very slow, sure hope I can get them in. Then I need to search the house for exercise equipment/videos, pet care products, etc. It'll be much harder than originally thought to get the money this month!!!

some of the 10 dollar categories remain- just arts/crafts, housewares, and umm.....toys that they took off. so the other ones, you dont have to be in too much of a mad rush to get done tonight!

What really bothers me is that I didn't get an email either- Did they choose who to send the emails to so the site didn't crash??? I'm frustrated because I was left off of the list-

AND---- I am so thankful that our dis friends let those of us who didn't know, have a heads up!

I do think all us dis'ers probably overloaded them, so many new people at one time

We have probably caused the biggest rush of new members for them in a while- Expo was reviewed on TV a while ago and I'm sure that there were lots of people who joined then too!

Anyhow, the site has thousands of members and we ( disers ) are , what, around 60 strong now- I've lost count I knew that $10 was too much and it wouldn't last- I scrambled and filmed 19 more tonight and am now in the process of uploading the videos- if they all get approved that will make 100 for me- it's slow going and as of 10pm EST , I've still got 13 to go - I don't think I'll make it- this is like being in college and doing the test study at the last minute!

I don't know, I had to film while the baby was up and of course he chose tonight to raise a fuss over everything. So, DH had a tough time keeping him quite, which as we all know, can cause the videos to get denied! I'm giving it my best shot- I found out around 6 pm tonight from this thread.

Email! They had a promotion in June that they were flooded with email complaints and changed the rules. There is power in numbers!

(If they need/want to change the rules - fine - but give more notice.)

whew! we are taping like crazy to get toys and games done... NOW I UNDERSTAND the editing part. we are resizing down to like.. 5megs, and the time it takes to upload is INCREDIBLY FASTER.

Expo TV:

Shame on you for changing your August promo only 10 days into the month. This is no way to treat your contributors who are the backbone of you company. Not only are we video contributors, but also video watchers, site referrers, and advertisement for your organization. I can only assume by the curve you threw us this month that this kind of inconsistency will be present in future promotions. Frankly, I don’t know whether I or my 15 subscribers, 23 friends, and 5 referrals will be willing to risk our valuable time with Expo TV in the future. Here is what some of them are saying:

“This is so disappointing!”

“Why does every time I start something, the bottom seems to fall out?”

“This is very unfair. Changing the rules 10 days into the game. Shame on expo TV”

“I’m just so bummed that they didn’t give any notice on this and won’t honor their original promotion.”

I think this change could really backfire on them. How many people are at home glued to the computer on a Friday night waiting for an email from expotv? (besides me ). Really though, I think there are going to be some pretty upset folks. Someone that turns on the computer tomorrow and finds out - oh, your $1000 has suddenly become $200.

I'm off to video our garage tomorrow - bikes, outdoorsy stuff, things I know nothing about!

I can't imagine they are going to shut down...they've been around for a couple years and have thousands of members. Perhaps they were overwhelmed with the number of people submitting $10 videos. But what could they expect???

They probably should just go back to everything being $5 but it is fun being creative to review $10 items.

Question on travel reviews...I'm going to WDW and DCL in October. Can I tape a live review there? Would that count? Or do I still have to insert photographs? I haven't researched travel much yet but I know some of you have completed travel reviews. Any insight???

I'm calling it a night. I got another 16 toys filmed and uploaded tonight to make them still worth $10 each. I am at 70 uploaded videos now for August, some at each price. If they all were approved I'd be at $588.

For my last 30 I'll just try to stick with Pets and Sports and see if we can stay in the $10 range.

I really, really hope after all this they do pay out.

Well, I already had 7 uploaded and was able to get 16 more done tonight thanks to you Disers! Expo TV sure didn't let me know about it.

I've come up with 19 more things in the remaining $10 categories so hopefully I'll be able to make at least a little $$ this month.

I think in September EVERYTHING is going to be $2. People will stop contributing since it's not worth the time which will be just fine with Expo for a little while. When they need videos again they'll return to $5. Just a theory. We shall see.

I'm so frustrated right now! DH is at work, I've had DD watching DS so I could tape and upload. It's been taking about 15-20 minutes per video to upload, now it seems stuck, I was hoping to get one or two more in. I have about 10 more that I videoed tonight that i won't get in before the cutoff.

I had been saving all my craft stuff until my DH had some approved so I had not created me a user name yet. I didn't have time to wait on the email confirmation so I just uploaded under DH user name. I read on the forum on expotv that I could do that. Anyway, I've probably got about 50 more craft and kitchen items that I guess will end being $2 items.

DH called from work while he was grabbing some supper. I was so frustrated. He didn't seem too concerned, but I guess when you have a floor of very sick kids you are responsible for, this really isn't such a big deal. So, now that I've thought about it, at least my two kiddos are healthy and here at home with me. There could be worse things to be worried about than how much I can get for a video. I feel much better now!

Well, I only got 5 of my 15 videos that I did tonight uploaded. I'm saving the rest in a file for September so I can upload then if the rate starts up again. I'm not counting on it but you never know how things might change. Now I will just focus on other categories and/or prepare toy/game videos to save for next month.

After 5 videos the site would cancel out while uploading. What a pain!

I have just spent the last 2 1/2 frantic trying to resize/edit my videos and post them. I got in 4! (had 14 for these new changes!) The last 15-20 minutes, as is is now 12:00am, Expo has had me locked out! FROZEN! NOW!
After I resize my videos, I can get them from me, to expo in about 3 minutes. I spent today filming about 20 different videos, since I finally had about 2 hrs of peace and quiet. Luckly I had downloaded them to on the computer before we went out to eat. Just happened to hop on the computer after getting the kids to sleep to find that delightful email from Expo. Time stamped email> 6:45pm! 3 hrs notice> thats just wrong!
I will wait for about 15 more minutes before I go pout myself to sleep.I had such plans with my hordes of toys

It is now 12:06> still frozen!!!!!
How sad! I will continue to add up the pennies for you all, looks like we really need them now

Ugh! I was bummed when the promotion changed to $10/$2 only because we don't have kids and most of the $10 cats were related to this, etc. But then I thought I'd try to do some this month of the things I do have or borrow some from friends, etc as we are planning vacation next month. But now to pull it with a few hours notice, that STINKS! I could see in a week or a few days, but in the same day? I had plans to film a ton Monday in the $10 range but now I guess not. Shame on EXPOTV, hopefully they will rethink this. IF there was a cap to the number of $10 then they should have said that OR limited each reviewer to a certain # of $10 videos.

I don't know about not doing them if they are $2 ( I feel like I just crossed the picket line! ) since I'm so new to the site still, but I can't work outside of my home due to health issues with my kidlets, so if someone had offered me $2 per video two months ago before we got the $10 offer, if they keep the 100 cap, thats still $200 that I would not have if I didn't know about this site- If it's all $2 next month, I guess I'll review easy things, with out proper names and model numbers,- like a can of corn!

I'm really on the fence about this issue- I guess I'll save my energy and worry about it starting next month I'd rather get $5 then $2 but $200 is better then no $-

I think the short notice, and in my case- NO NOTICE- was done on purpose! I'm betting that there will suddenly be lots of rejections of videos that are perfectly fine- if they are full of their monthly quota, then they have to find some way to cut costs/corners. I've had 69 approved with no rejections so far, 48 were from July- these last 100 or so were filmed in the same space and lighting as most of the approved videos---- time will tell if these last videos will suddenly become rejected for some strange reason.

I got all of my toy videos uploaded tonight I had them on the table waiting for the kids to go to bed- I was all ready to tape the last 19, so it wasn't as bad for me tonight as if I hadn't been ready to tape.-

Upload wasn't really any slower for me then it normally is- I expected the site to get slammed like last month on the last week- that makes me think that loads of people are in for a rude surprise tomorrow!

Videos uploaded- 97 toys and three $2- = $976 ) All of it is already promised for the credit card ( we had some medical expenses that I had to charge last month - but I'm still glad to have found a way to pay this bill!) now we play the waiting game

Some people will still find it worth it to make videos for $2. I may even do a few myself, but nothing like the past two months. The "vibe" over on the Expo forums is that $2 isn't worth it. I think Expo knows this and that's exactly what they want. I think I'll take a break in September and save my products for when they come up with a better promo.

I'm so glad you were able to make some $$ this month! And I totally agree with you about the "mysterious rejecton" thing. *sigh*

Well, I got 17 uploaded tonight after about 9pm so that's not bad. I had to tape some, then convert to .wmv, then upload since they changed things last minute. I had been waiting to do my household appliance/games stuff and then had to do it all tonight!! I missed out on three $10 kitchen items. Grr. The site froze up and stopped working on me about 11:48ish.

And 12 of those 17 are *$10* items. I'm on the same wavelength as daydreamer- I'm thinking there will be more rejections from ones uploaded recently for the $10 categories. Frustrating. I'm just crossing my fingers.

I still haven't had even ONE video approved! I'm so worried something went wrong with the upload, and now I've got 35 up on the site that are going to be rejected!!

Ooo. I just noticed that my first 15 uploaded are now "pending" and have a preview available. Although when I click on the preview it times out and says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." Maybe I'll try tomorrow- they're probably messing with the system.

Despite the changes and the fact that it's not fair- it's money that is somewhat easy for me to make so I think I'll keep up with it even if everything goes to $2. I might not kill myself to get it all in by the end of the month and hit 100, but I'll try my best. $2 from expo is $2 I didn't have before.

STARTING TO PANIC!

Ok someone talk to me. I just went back and clicked on a few of the previews and got two to come up- but there's NO SOUND!!!

Has this happened to anyone else in the preview stage?? I was unsure if it was my computer so I went back to the actual files and played them and they were fine.

Is there something I could have done wrong??

Advice please!
