Hi there Universal experts...I've been lurking over here on & off for several months...planning our first visit to Universal IN JUST 3 WEEKS!! :cool1: I am a bit apprehensive about the "no bags on rides" thing at Universal. I pretty much ditched fanny packs a long time ago & switched to small lightweight string backpacks for our Disney park days but I still have a couple packs in the closet. I know I've read that "they" won't allow the larger ones so I'm not planning to bring my larger one that holds water bottles too but was hoping that this smaller size one would be acceptable? Fully loaded the pack itself is 8.5" w X 5" h X 4" d. (I think it LOOKS taller than it is in this picture bcuz I was holding the camera so close but it's really only about 5" tall.) I have a hard case for my camera that fits onto the belt and I was HOPING that I could get by wearing this configuration at the 2 Universal parks?!?! What do you think? Will they allow me to wear this set-up or will I have to take it off? Although it's a smaller size it's nylon so it's lightweight but it has 3 compartments & if I pack it right I can fit 3 of those smaller disposable ponchos, 2 eyeglass cases (1 for me & 1 for DS), my wallet and cell phone. If I have to take the camera off the belt and put it in the pack then I would probably not have room for the 2nd eyeglass case unless I got rid of the ponchos. (Whether or not we need the ponchos will depend on the weather forecast when the day comes.)

(WHY 2 eyeglass cases you ask? Well, I have RX sunglasses so I constantly switch between the 2 pairs of glasses and need a case for 1 pair. My DS doesn't switch glasses BUT we both take our glasses off for any rides that go upside down. I am just not willing to risk losing a $400+ pair of glasses for a thrill ride.)

I don't know...that bag looks pretty big and looks like it might impede the restraints. It's a tough call...no doubt.

It's really NOT very big....I've been looking at them on eBags. and as they go this is in the "small" category. They don't come a WHOLE lot smaller. I really think it's the perspective of this picture that makes it LOOK bigger. Look at a ruler...it is only 5" tall when packed & zipped which I don't think of as BIG. If I sling it low on my hips I know it will fit under the over-the-shoulder restraints as it would then be in my lap, not around my actual waist.

Thoughts from anybody else???

I think it looks fine to me. Usually it's the thickness of a waist pack that causes problems with restraints, and that one doesn't look too thick.

But if it comes to it, just put it in a locker. They're really not a big deal in my opinion :)

Do you think they'll allow me to wear my camera case on the belt??:confused3

I really didn't want to mess with a locker....in that case I would just bring a backpack....

um, you look really thin. ::yes::

just sayin'............

if the pack has 3 prongs, it should be okay for ride durability.

not sure if the camera on the belt is allowed.

why don't you send an email to guest services to get their official ruling on your waist pack?

include your phone number as they might call to answer your question.

Hi

I used my small digital camera bag and clipped a carbiner on it and fastened that to my beltloop. I rode every single ride and never once was asked to take it off. In that little bitty bag I had my cell and camera and a little stash of cash as well as a few meds. I used a lanyard for for my tickets and bankcards. It works perfectly!

Do they have "check" seats outside the attraction to see if you will fit before you wait in line?
