Another upgrade thread: Ever been upgraded at CR?

I started to write the report this morning, and have not finished, but here is the short of it:

As for the upgrade, I faxed in a request asking for an MK view.
I have since faxed a thank you to the room assigner, lol!

1 - We loved, loved, loved it. DH did NOT want to stay there, he thought it would be too cold and plain. He ended up LOVING it and the view was incredible!
2 - It was clean (little story about that but no biggie) and the view was incredible!
3 - The hallways were clean and I did not see anything in need of a rehab or anything and the view was incredible!
4 - Food & Fun center was awesome! Even had bread for toasting in the am and stuff and the view was incredible!

Only drawback was I needed something from one of the little shops and it did not open until 8:30 am, but that was the only thing that was not totally magical!

Oh, and the view was incredible!

Longer report to follow (I hope!:D )

Shells9,

Thanks! A few of questions.

1. Were you originally in the tower or in the wings?

2. What was the fax number you used?

3. Did you say anything special in the fax?

Thanks again!

Hi,
1 - Yes, we were just in a regular ole wing room
2 - I used the fax number from the Disney website -- don't have it handy, but that is where it came from. Addressed it to the room assigner.
3 - Didn't really say anything special, other than we would like to see the Magic Kingdom and we would appreciate any assistance they could give us.

Good luck!

Glad to hear you got the upgrade!!

Going in September, but couldn't risk it...I paid for the tower!!

Still hoping for a MK view!!

Questions:

Tell me about the CR. My husband wants to stay there...like your husband, I think it might me too harsh, too much concrete, and not enough DISNEY. Tell me I'm wrong!?!

Shells9,

May I ask what floor were you on? Room number? We have a ressies for Sept, I went ahead and booked a Tower room because I didn't want to take a chance plus with a view like yours it will be worth the money. Plus being a FL resident I am hoping they will come out with some great rates. This will be our first time staying at CR. Typically we stay at the Value resorts (we go to Disney 4-5 times a year) Value allows us more trips. But once a year I am making it a point to stay at a Deluxe. Last year was WL where we upgraded to Concierge for an extra $70 a night ($184 a night in total). Ok rambling here.

Glad it was a great trip,

Tbthomps-

Oh my gosh -- it was just awesome all the way!

Like I have said, we really thought we were in Utopia at AKL. We thought there could be nothing better. I even had it in my head that as much as I wanted to stay at CR, we would stay at CR this time, and then we'd be back to AKL every other time we went.

It will not be that easy.

You really feel like you are part of something at CR, if you can understand that -- on the concourse, there is always something going on. In the tower, you walk out of your room and there is the monorail! You look over the railing and there is Chef Mickey's! You look out of your window and there is Bay Lake or Magic Kingdom! Near the Mickey shaped pool is a really cool sculpture of Mickey that changes color at night, and a topiary of Sorcerer Mickey. In the front parking lot, in the center of the garden, is a garden shaped like a Mickey watch. Anytime of the day or night when you look at MK, there is something happening. The castle stays lit all night. There are Disney buses to watch, and just something always happening! But not in a rushed sort of way, you know?

It really IS Disney. I think you will be just fine. DH really got the magic this time. He enjoyed our Disney trips in the past, but he never really "got" it, you know? Now I think he has caught the magic.

One word. Jealous!

Shirley - It was room 4739. If you look at this picture, we were 5 rows up and 5 sets of balconies over (each balcony is really 2), almost smack dab in the middle. It was on the 11th floor.

my son & i stayed in room 4740 last august for 9 nights - i took many many pictures of the MK view, and at least an hour's worth of video just of the MK view from our balcony! (i loved hearing the sound of the train & watching the steam, the howling from the HM, the monorail going around, the little logs going down Splash Mtn, actual riders in their little cars on the PeopleMover - but especially the castle changing colors all throughout the night - stunning!)

I have a few questions that come to mind. Are the balcanies shared with the one next to you? Can you see the other people if you want to sit out on the balcany?

I didn't realize that you are that close that you are able to hear some of the sounds that come from the MK. That is incredible.

Yes, the balconies are shared, but they are separated by a concerete barrier (for lack of better term).

I did not even realize they were adjoined until we had been out there a while. There was one time that the people next to us were out on theirs and we could hardly hear them -- the only reason we really knew they were out there was because they had a small child out there with them.

I did not feel any intrusions at all or anything.

And, it is very cool hearing all of the sounds!!::yes::

Michelle, How much did you pay may I ask? I couldn't wait til Sept so I'm going Monday. WOOHOO! I got a price of $166(fl resident rate) on Memorial day can you believe it? Tower was $284 but since its only for 1 night I'll stick with North Wing. Unless they want to upgrade me. If they do and I get your room and find $100 under the bed is that yours?? LOL

OK just got more excited. They are having an E-ride night on Memorial day. Double woohoo.

Main reason we are going is to upgrade my DD18 play 4 pass to a seasonal pass. $95 to upgrade. One CM told me it had to be done in person the other said it could be done over the phone. Not taking a chance so off to Disney I must go. "sigh" lol thats a sigh of relief.
Can you tell I'm in a good mood? Dumb question huh?

Shirley,
You know, I am not really sure :o . I think that is what we paid. I had a code, now wether we used Florida Resident, AP or Disney Visa, I cannot remember!
And yes, the $100 under the bed would be mine, as is the $50 in the bathroom and the $200 you will find in the concourse shops!::yes::
