We got another dumping last week. Today has that grey dampness "it might snow" feel. I haven't looked at the forecast.

We tend to go loopy with the ongoing snow and cold around March. When we would expect it to warm up and melt.. we get hit with massive snow storms.

Sis said it had barely begun to warm up just a few days before we moved back, those are the times when it's depressing. June and you still need a warm coat. UGH!

You know, you can search for cheap airfares and go visit my sister anytime. She has 2 spare bedrooms, a swimming pool and within walking distance to the beach.:thumbsup2 She's a go with the flow kind of person, probably wouldn't even notice an extra person in the house.:lmao: Her college/military boys are always coming and going, extra people always in the house.:rotfl2:

That's scary, worrisome nights hoping your house stays dry.
In the metro it's not usually a concern-- unless you live near the Mississippi River. There have been years of flooded basements for those living along the river, not a small amount.. but the type of flooding where they sandbagged the banks. :scared:

Well our house sits up on a knoll and the creek would have to rise about 50 feet to get near our house. Last I checked water had a problem flowing uphill. So we don't worry about the creek. It does flood the road going to our well/pump house, but we can also get to it from the other side, so not really a problem. We don't have flood insurance, but then again the nearest large body of water is 1,000 feet below our house. So if the water rises that much, we are all goner's anyway!:rotfl2: Since we live on a hill I did check on mudslide insurance, but it was $3,000 a month. Basically you can't buy mudslide insurance in the Pacific NW. Luckily the mudslides are few and far between. Plus we did a few things to our yard to help with the water. We made all of the yard sloping away from the house, created areas for the water to flow down into the creek, etc...So we've done all we can and hopefully it works.:thumbsup2

Now mind you, this was after they had all eaten the lunches they brought!:scared1:

 oh wow... that's terrible! Gross too.

E said he's avoided the break room at other schools-- too many teats and goodies brought in by staff and parents. Unreal amounts of sugary fatty snackage during the holidays.

Not sure if it's such a concern at his present school, not as much parent involvement in the school.. so less donations of junk food. Fine by me and hubby , less temptation. ;)

I thought it was cool they gave turkeys to the families.. in exchange the parents had to fill out paperwork :thumbsup2
More money for the school with all the lunch program forms completed!

You have a nice amt of trees, smart move!

My parents had their house placed on a hill with the sewage tank on the other side .. perfect drainage field into a low spot of their property,, just far enough away from the lakeshore.

Their pumphouse has had water in the bottom only once. Not bad considering how long they have been out there. (20 years and counting)

However, they didn't grade the road down to the house. We got stuck spinning on ice patches!

I bet they have tons of goodies in their break rooms. I guess that's the good thing about working by myself most of the time. I have no one to blame for my weight but myself.

That's great they gave away turkeys. Wish someone would give me free food in exchange for filling out a form I was supposed to fill out anyway!:lmao:

Although I might take advantage of a free dental mobile that is coming to our school in February. We don't currently have dental insurance, my company doesn't offer it and the railroad doesn't offer it until you have been employed there for one full year. We got a notice that the State is sending around a free dental mobile to all the schools for children without dental insurance. It's not necessarily a low income thing, so I might just take advantage of it. DS seems to constantly have dental problems. We had dental insurance at DH's last job, so he was always going. We went right before our insurance expired, so not a big deal if he has to go a year without seeing a dentist. But hey, free is free! Then maybe if the economy picks up and DH's job continues we will just make a tax deductible contribution to the dental mobile. Better than paying ridiculous individual dental plan prices.:thumbsup2

That's another reason we kept all the trees, helps hold the dirt in place.:thumbsup2 Our drainfield is in our lower front yard and our well is in the back, so they are far apart. Plus the way the water drains down the hill, even if there was any sewage problem, then it would go the opposite way down the hill.

Well I need to get going for the day. Haven't had breakfast, need to do my Wii exercises, get dressed, do some housework...roust the kids out of bed.

Have a great day!:goodvibes

That's great!
The dental mobiles here go around to areas where no dentist will accept state paid medical care (even MN Care which is a subsidized insurance.. you pay a premium based on sliding scale).

I understand dentists don't get paid much for Medical assistance/ MN care patients.. but still if you are in a rural area isn't it your professional duty to provide care to those in need? :confused3

Instead the state helps subsidize a dental mobile to provide care twice a year.

:sad2:

Taking a break-- see ya later! :goodvibes

sorry that took so long... i remembered that i wanted dh to upload photos to the costco site (from his pc, mine is too slow), and then i realized it was way past time to get the boys to bed. :headache:

we've been staying up late and getting up late on break, but school starts monday. it ain't gonna be pretty monday morning at our house... :scared:
I SO hear you. I think my kids are still recovering from New Years. Alex wanted to stay up and see the fireworks, and ring in the new year. So we let the kids stay up until midnight. Of course this is the child that cant sleep past 7am.. So he was PLEASANT the next day. He NEEDS at least 10-12 hours of sleep. Otherwise he is a big ole cry baby. New Years was a rough day for us around here.

Mikalah has been sleeping on the floor for some strange reason, and hasnt been sleeping as much... I have to say though... its nice not having to fight with her to get her up in the mornings.

We have a dental van that comes to the school twice a year for the kids. Alex goes.. He got a clean bill this year, but last year? Yikes. Im glad they saw him.
Hope you guys are having a great New year so far.

Melody, I am so sorry for your loss.

Shawna! Long time no see, lady. How are you?

Omg... I was browsing pictures that we dug up during our cleaning... Look how YOUNG we look there!

Look how much HAIR my husband had!:lmao: He has lost a bunch of weight since then... Unfortunately... I found it. :rotfl2: He is gaining a bit during this pregnancy though. I told him he doesnt have to keep up with me when it comes to eating. But he insists. :lmao:

I can see it's a busy afternoon on the Hyena thread!:lmao: DH and the kidlets are getting ready for Anaheim 1 that starts at 7pm. Apparently this is a big deal, first supercross race of the season, and it's being shown on tv live.

So guess I'm Dising tonight. But alas, no one is around....of course I know Sarah's not around, she's at Anaheim Round 1.:lmao:

I would show you some photos of DH and I when we were younger...but sadly digital cameras were not in existence and the only personal computer around was the Commodore 64.:rotfl2:

:lmao: I just scanned the pic. in. I dont know why... but that feels like a lifetime ago. it was Sept of 02 by the way... :lmao:

Indeed it is!

What's up? I just made a big pan of chicken enchiladas, spent the afternoon shoveling snow off the trampoline, refilled the bird feeders, shoveled ice & snow off the back deck (is this stuff ever going to melt?), did housework, got the computer all set up for DD's e-class that starts on Monday.

OH! We had a commodore 64 back in the day... I think I was 9. :rotfl2:
