We went to Walmat this morning and GUESS what they had?? 3 Bakugan booster packs left!:cool1: I just stared at the for a minute.. I thought they were a mirage. :rotfl2: This is the FIRST time I have ever seen Bakugan booster packs in stock. Then I noticed another mom creeping up on me, and I snatched those puppies up and ran for the hills. :lmao: :lmao:

Then I made the old man take me to Costco... and I got Alex the Battle arena kit thing.. What a DEAL. The Arena is $30. and the booster packs are $5. each. THis had 6 Bakugan, and the arena for $32.!!!:cool1: Thats almost like getting the dang things for free! So we snatched that puppy up and headed for the checkout. Only getting mildly distracted by the candy. :rotfl2:

Twas the night before Thanksgiving when all thru the DIS not a creature was stirring not even a Hyena.

Yeah I know, I'm a dork!:)

So did anyone wonder like me why the pardoned turkeys at DL seemed to have disappeared? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Well I got the answer today...apparently they weren't getting along with the cow. No seriously, so they were removed from display, still alive, but just not in public view. However, this year's turkeys will be sent to occupy their space right after they are pardoned. So everyone, let us rejoice turkeys are coming back to DL.

The turkeys will be flying first class on United Airlines along with the entire first class cabin that DL purchases for the turkeys and the National Turkey Federation delegation that accompany's them to DL. He and his entourage will be on a non-stop flight from DC to OC in time for his appearance at the Thanksgiving Day parade at DL. This year's turkey names are Pumpkin and his alternate is Pecan.

NO I DID NOT MAKE THIS UP!!

cool!
I read on a fan site that WDW would love to have the pardoned turkeys. It's a big PR event for the park, of course WDW would love to have that.. Someone on DL staff was the one to think of it and put the plan in force, why does everything have to go to WDW anyway ? HMPPH!:snooty:

When I didn't see the turkeys last year, I figured WDW had gotten their way after all. Good to hear they are continuing to make it a DL tradition
:)

hookay... i am guessing from sam and bernice's posts that disneyland is home to several turkeys that the nation's president has pardoned? i didn't know that, so i wasn't quite following sam's post. thanks, g! :lmao:

we had a pretty good day, up until we got home from ds4's gymnastics class. both boys headed for the computer, but i headed them off: "Hey, fellas! You see all those toys, dirty clothes, jackets, books and school papers in the family room? You need to clean those up before Daddy gets home." The words were barely off my lips before ds8 (the well-behaved child!) shouted, "No!" and ran to hide in his room. as he dashed away, i said, "Either clean up or stay in your room."

he stayed awhile, then came out just before dh came home. I again requested that he clean up, and again he refused. i told him he was going to stay in his room all evening if he didn't clean up. again he disappeared. when dh got home i explained what was going on, so when ds8 came down to greet him, dh told him to clean up.

This child told his father that he was in his room "because Mama told me to, she didn't tell me to clean." :sad2:

DH gave him the ultimatum again, and the brat again went to his room, simply stating that he did not want to clean. DH said, "fine. but that mess will still be waiting for you tomorrow morning, and there will be no other options, YOU WILL CLEAN."

i can't decide whether to be amused or annoyed...

SO...
2005 turkeys went to DL - Marshmallow & Yam
2006 turkeys went to DL - Flyer & Fryer
2007 turkeys went to WDW - May & Flower
2008 turkeys headed to DL as we speak - Pumpkin & Pecan

Marshmallow & Yam died a few months after getting to DL. I can't seem to find Flyer & Fryer's obituaries. May & Flower at WDW are the ones that didn't get along with the cow and are now off exhibit.

So what happened to Flyer & Fryer? I can't find anything on them. However, I did find one article talking about Marshmallow & Yam and it said that turkeys in the wild live about 10 years, but these domesticated/bred for dinner turkeys generally don't make it more than about a year. As a matter of fact May & Flower were put on a special exercise & diet program soon after they arrived at WDW. As far as I can tell they are still alive. But we can probably assume that Flyer & Fryer bit the dust.

i love the turkey names! :lmao:

yes, i've heard commercially raised turkeys are bred to be very top-heavy, to provide the maximum breastmeat.

Prior to 2004 the pardoned turkeys went to a petting zoo in Virginia named Frying Pan Park. Someone with Disney joked that they (the pardoned turkeys) should be the happiest turkeys on earth, so why not bring them to the happiest place on earth. I'm sure that only took a simple phone call to the White House...can you just imagine the phone call?

White House (WH): Thank you for calling the White House. For English Press 1, for Spanish Press 2. If you know the 18 digit extension of the person you are dialing please enter it now, otherwise please press 9 for a company directory.

Mickey Mouse (MM): B....U.....S......H.

WH: You've reached the desk of...oh yeah who is this...you've reached the desk of George Dubya Bush. I'm not available I think. Please leave a message.

Well you get the idea.:rotfl2:

As a parent you should be annoyed.

As a person you should be amused.

BUT...since your children don't realize that you are also a person, you must keep the laughter inside until they are about 30 years old. Then you can tell them how amused you are by it.:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

oooooo. the you know what is hitting the fan now. ds8 just came and asked if dinner was ready; i said, "Gee... i don't see that you've picked anything up yet in the family room, so i would say no. you can have dinner after you clean up."

his expression looked a lot like this:
and while i kept a stoic, slightly disinterested expression, inside i was :rotfl:

then he whined that his brother wasn't there; i told him to feel free to collect his brother, if he wished. now they're both here, and MY GOODNESS, they've decided to do a little pick-up! :lmao:

it's amazing what kind of effort a little hunger will generate... :lmao:

Amazing what they can do when they realize that they won't get something they want. Keep this in mind...it also works well with teenagers, only they don't care about dinner, they only care about the car.:lmao:

ds4 just reappeared. i suggested he start cleaning, and he said he didn't want to. i commiserated, and said, "Gee, I was really hoping you'd get to eat dinner tonight; but you can't have dinner until you clean up, so this is making me sad... no dinner for ta-tam?"

he  and gasped, "but i want dinger!" :rotfl:

yikes! i just had a flash of ds4 behind the wheel of a car someday! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

We had the trailer all hooked up to the truck, ready to take off first thing tomorrow morning. But we just got a call from some friends, they live down by Coos Bay and got a late start, so they want to stop and spend the night. They are also headed up to my inlaws.

DH is out unhooking the trailer right now so they can sleep in it. Unfortunately we live on a hill and our driveway slants down. Didn't want all the blood to rush to their heads while they sleep.:lmao:

Anyway, gotta go out and make sure it's clean for them. It should be because DH was supposed to get it ready for us, but of course you know I'm going to double check.:rotfl2:

BRB in a few minutes.
