i remember doing that, too. i try not to do that now, but got sucked into those twilight books and wound up staying awake much later than i intended, then kicked myself when i finished the story faster than i wanted. :rotfl:

my next set of books to read is the sookie stackhouse (southern vampire) series. the tv series true blood is based on these books. i've heard great things about both the books and the tv show. :thumbsup2

I love the show.. But I havent read the books. I get a little freaked out reading certain things while I am home alone at night. :sad2: Im such a geek. :lmao:

Exactly! I am having a hard time with it! Is this to hard... not hard enough... I just dont know! Im not in his little brain! :lmao:

They LOVE to read together. He is supposed to read aloud for 20 minutes every day, so he gets Mikalahs books and reads to her. Its lovely!
i don't know if you'll have time for this, but i used to share reading of a harder book with ds. on easier books, he'd read a chapter aloud to me (roughly half an hour) and then i'd read a chapter or two to him. that way we'd get through the book much faster and he seemed less frustrated, but still reading a challenging book.

if the book was really challenging, he'd read a page, then i'd read the next few. just needed to keep his interest up and frustration down. :thumbsup2

Oh yeah. I know with Alex, he likes to read some of Frelans role playing books. He has some on Mechs, big robot things.. They are geared towards teens/adults.. But are about robots, so Alex loves them. Its not a novel or anything.. but its more difficult then the books geared towards his age.
oh hey, there are some yu-gi-oh and pokemon paperbacks. they're small, so i imagine a fairly easy read for these two, but he loves them. you can get some of them through scholastic books for cheap. :)

I have totally been thinking about doing this. I figure it would be good mommy/Alex bonding time while I am nursing the babies. I was thinking of busting out my old Harry Potter books or something.

I have seen them! I was thinking about picking him up some of the Bakugan books they are coming out with too.. I am really excited that he is interested in reading. Its like I finally have something that I can share with him, you know? Its has always been him and his dad.. Now he's MINE!:lmao: :lmao:

well, i am way late getting my butt to bed, so i'd better get moving.

good night, ladies. :cloud9: :dance3:

yup, you're on the right track.

i know what you mean about loving reading. dh never read for pleasure, and i love to read, i'm always reading something. so i love it that the kids love to read/be read to. (dh appreciates it, too, and knows how important it is for kids.) :)

Hello!
There was a news bit that caught my eye this morning.. and of course the DIS picked up on it.. interesting read.

http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local...long_island_doctor_richard_batista_to_es.html

Long Island doctor Richard Batista to estranged wife: Give me my kidney back or $1.5M

Dr. Richard Batista donated his kidney to his wife, Dawnell, in 2001.

Richard Batista can live with his broken heart. He just can't bear his cheating wife living with his healthy kidney.

The Long Island doctor wants the one-time love of his life to pay $1.5 million for the organ he bestowed on her eight years ago in a gift meant to save her life and their foundering marriage.

Just an excuse to create media attention in a bitter divorce/ custody issue. However, it does open up discussion on what is the value of an organ donation.. is it really that wrong to want compensation for an organ?

There's been discussion on various web sites in the renal community, maybe more living and cadaver organ donations would occur if there were some type of compensation. Paid time off work (my employer gave me a week paid leave), cut on taxes (MN does this), pay for funeral expenses (cadaver donor) , paid health insurance...

At least it should offer is additional points thru UNOS ("waiting list" for organ transplant) if you were a prior donor. Making that person a slightly higher priority.

:confused3 I dont know.. its not something I know a whole lot about.

Poo.. I just got an email from the the hospital.. I cant take the beasties with me to the tour. Not surprised, I didnt think they would let me. Guess I go alone.

It does make sense though... doesnt it. Maybe SOME kind of bonus. Because then why would anyone do it? Aside from being an organ donor on their license.. I am, but dh isnt. He is weird like that. He thinks the hospital will try to do him in for his organs.. Trust me babe, your organs arent THAT good. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Okay.. so we went to Target this morning. My mom has been on me to register somewhere. I dont know why.. Im not THAT picky. I have never done it before, didnt plan on doing it this time. ANYHOO... As Bernice, and Alison know... Target is clearancing out almost ALL of their baby stuff. So trying to register? oy. Not easy. Then I started to sweat, and my back went all wonky. My belly was dragging on the floor, and I swear I had a baby chilling between my knees. Okay.. not really, but it pretty much blew.

So I scanned a bunch of stuff, Im not even sure WHAT... and ran out of the store. Well.. ran might be pushing it. I waddled slowly. :lmao: I was so bummed.. They had TONS on clearance, and I really wanted to look through it.

After all this, I still needed to go grocery shopping. I got a scooter. Mikalah was like.... :confused3 WHAT are you doing?? But we got lots of stuff... and now we have food. AND I left walking upright, and not all crouched over having contractions. :woohoo: Always a bonus!

Now if you had Super Target-- you could have grocery shopped and baby registery all in one place. :thumbsup2
