I am now counting down a trip to England- yay! We are going in the middle of September and I have so many questions. Our itinerary is set (not seeing London but seeing smaller towns - Shipston on Stour, Hawes, Sea Houses, the Cotswolds, and visiting some family in Clitherow (sp?). We already have accomodations so now I have a few questions...

1. A good electric outlet converter? Any suggestions? While I could live without my hairdryer if need be, I definitely don't want to fry my new digital camera or its battery with a bad converter.

2. A good cell (a/k/a mobile) phone to rent. This seems rather pricey - Cellular Abroad is the best price so far at $90 for a month (conveniently, they are "out of stock" of the less expensive phone - YIKES! when adding this to my "cart" the total is $264! Any better suggestions on this? We do want to be able to call the States while we are away, but there is no need to call the States often.

Those are my first few questions. I appreciate your input!

Hi

In answer to your question we bought a transformer from Radio Shack for all the US stuff we bring back and use in the UK.

With regard to the mobile phone, ASDA (UK Part of Walmart) do cheap pay as you go mobiles, so might be worth looking in there when you get over here.

Buying a cheap phone is a good idea. From what I understand pay-as-you-go means the opposite here as it does in the US. Over here it is when you prepay for your calls - I buy a voucher (for £10 or £20 a time) from the phone shop other people pay with their credit cards. Most big supermarkets sell mobile phones.
