I knew that the folks here would have some good advice. My mother has this thing where her toes are growing a bit crooked. She has been wearing Birks for the last few years. But now the toe bar is bothering her feet. Because her second toe is growing cross-ways and it goes over the toe bar at times. She needs to find some good shoes or sandals to walk in and to take to Disney so she can enjoy the days and not hurt. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance..

I wear birks too. They are very supportive. However, when I am not wearing birks, I like Merrell's (I have the bahia style) and Teva Mush sandals. The "mush" sandals aren't as supportive as the birks, but they are comfortable. The Tevas have many styles too though. Hope this helps some! :flower: Good luck.

My DH has severve problems with his feet. This year he wore Crocs every day at the parks. He never complained about his feet. He said it was the best $30.00 he's ever spent!

I will show her the Tevas and Crocs site and see what she thinks. But I have never seen anyone toes just start growing crooked. Bless her heart. She is just worried she might not be able to keep up at Disney.

Thanks for the advice!

Does she have rheumatoid arthritis? I've taken care of a few patients with RA and they all had VERY crooked toes (I thought one of them was missing the toe next to her big toe upon assessment, then realized it was lapped over the 3rd toe). I have RA and although my toes are still straight, my feet do tend to hurt if I'm walking a lot in the wrong shoes. Obviously, working 12 hour shifts doesn't help this at all, either. I've found that for work and casual times, Dansko's are great....but for play, I love my Teva's. Birks are great too, but I've noticed that after I wear my Birks for a while, then switch back to other shoes (such as my Dansko work shoes), my feet are in excruciating pain. With the Teva's, this doesn't happen. They worked great for our 5-day vacation at DL last August.

Thanks for the advice![/QUOTE]

Keep in mind if she does have any problems with pain or with keeping up, she can always rent a wheelchair or a scooter at Disney.
