We are trying to decide between Shula's and Yachtsmen Steakhouse for my Mom's birthday dinner. (She loves Prime Rib.) However, for our own considerations, we are leaning toward Shula's because my husband and I love souffles and I heard they have a good one there. However, looking at the menu, I can tell that Yachtsman has some very seasoned steaks (for example, they have a Bourbon soaked steak that sounds great). I don't like plain meat and like my steaks to have some kind of seasoning or sauce with it-Does Shula's have this on their menu or are their steaks plain?

I'm not going to answer your question, but I will say taht we liked Shula's a LOT better than Yachtsmans. Much better food, much MUCH better service, and yes, the souffle was to die for :)

And actually, another question I have (I've looked over both menus). My mother is a basic midwestern type-meat and potatoes. She does not like garlic smashed potatoes or fancy salads. (We are talking iceberg lettuce, tomatoe and cucumber). Does anyone know if they have a simple dinner salad available-even if it is not on the menu. She loves Prime Rib, but I know she would want a baked potatoe and salad with it.

We ate there last month, DH had a huge baked potato with his dinner. We both chose the Beefsteak Tomatoes & Gorgonzola Cheese salad. This was also huge and could have been shared. If you don't care for this cheese I would ask for it on the side. We both had filet, but I didn't see where it was anything out of the ordinary. I thought the service was fine maybe a little snooty. We were too full to have desert so I can not comment on the chocolate souffe.

If you look at prices and order smartly Shula's is not much more than YSH. I would call the steaks ANYTHING but plain. I'm sure they are seasoned since the taste is incredible. I'm not sure about house salad but as far as baked potato they are HUGE and can be shared easily by two.

The steak at Shula's is incredible! Was there last month for the first time and it is the best steak I have had at WDW. It is lightly seasoned but I do believe they would blacken it for you if you wanted it that way. Also, if you want a sauce with it, ask for some of their bernaise sauce....it is absolutely incredible (as is their hollandaise). I also agree that by ordering smart, it is not any more expensive than Yachtsman's. The side dishes at Shula's are huge and should be shared. I am also sure if you just want a 'plain' salad, you can get it.

We also shared the chocolate souffle and it is excellent. It is incredibly rich and 'chocolatey'. They also serve...on the side....two scoops of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and vanilla sauce (they actually pour this into the souffle). For me, it needed the 'vanilla' items to tone down the chocolate explosion of the souffle but it is definitely worth getting!

We ate at Shula's last month and it was divine. We thought the steaks were seasoned to perfection- you really didn't need any sauce because they were so delicious (and this comes from someone who loves teriyaki sirloin or some type of sauce to dip her steak in). I had the filet and DH had the Kansas City Strip. We shared a caesar salad, but I know they had a more simple salad on the menu- I think it was a chunk of iceberg lettuce with blue cheese dressing (maybe I'm thinking of Ruth Chris though). We each wanted a different side- creamed spinach for him, potato skins for me, but if we wanted the same thing it could have EASILY been shared. The portions are HUGE. If you split a side and a salad, and your dessert, I think you could come out at around $100-110. Depends if you have a beverage. Our tab was $117 and we each had a cocktail along with the above items. It was worth it. We were so full at the end we took a few laps around Downtown Disney and then split a cookie there. I did see the souffle prepared and it looked yummy!

We recently dined at Shula's in Chicago, and let me tell you it was THE BEST STEAK EVER!!! We are big steak eaters, and it was the best we've ever had. I don't think you can go wrong with Shula's. Also, if you decide to eat there, you should know that the desserts that they offer are heavenly!
