another question about changing resorts midway

everyone was so great with my last question regarding how easy/hard it is to try 2 different resorts during the same visit. The general opinion is that it is easy, they move your things, ect. A lot of great advise. However, we have 3 little kids and I wanted to buy groceries first to have on hand. What happens to the food that is in the fridge? Do they move that too, or does it have to be thrown out and then go to the grocery store a second time?

Some have suggested that there is a way to have stuff stored but, I have not had any experience with changing resorts. You might try picking up a cheap cooler and putting stuff in that, or else plan your food so that there are not any perishables left in the fridge.

if it is easy containers - grocery bags - they can store it too.

make sure you tell the bell services which needs to be refrigator and which needs the freezer - I would write it on the bag.

they will not take the food out of the refrigerator or cabins for you.

Then I assume we will have to be at the new place when it arrives, to put it in the fridge. They will not put it in the fridge for you will they?

We just returned from 15 days split between BCV and SSR. When you are ready to leave your first resort you just call bell services when you are all packed. They will pick up from your room and deliver it to your next resorts bell services. You then call bell services at your new resort and they will deliver to you, usually not until after 3:00. You can get plastic bags from bell services to put your food in. Be sure to tell them which ones need to be refridgerated and which need to be frozen. It worked out great for us. So when it leaves the old resort they put it in a centralized fridge/freezer until we get to our room and call that we are there and are reading for it? (That means we put it in the fridge in the new room, not them?)

Also, can I be so rude to ask how much you tipped them to do so? (I guess you tip twice, one for the first bellman and one for the second at the new location)

We just returned, and split our stay between VWL and BWV. We had a lot of groceries. When it was time to move we packed everything up in to grocery bags, packing the fridge items seperately, and bell services came and moved everything for us. We just told the bell hop what needed cool storage.

We have changed resorts during a stay last nov2004. From BCV to SS. late reservations forced the change. I will say that I wouldn't advise it. Disney staff was great we grabed our stuff and just stored it with valet, they have refridgeration system to put your food in were they store your bags to wait for room to get ready if your early.
The only thing was the disruption of the vacation to move. Granted it was easy but You have to reset your vacation to the new resort and it like taking two little vacations than 1 nice long relaxing ones. Just my opinion.
But SS was very nice. Nice to walk to Downtown Disney. Also really close to Edge of disney Property to eat off site a little. :

Could you tell more of why it was a disruption. Do you really have to be at the new resort when your things come? Another poster suggested one person be there to make the new arrangments instead of the whole family going. Would that help? Also, how much should we tip the bell person in the old and new resort?

It seems like you don't need to be at the new resort when your things get there. They will hold them at bell services and you get them whenever you get to the new resort. When we change resorts one of us goes and checks in so we have the room keys etc. early in the am. Then if the room is ready we can move everything in. If not we call later and find out what room we have and move in then. I think you tell the bell service people that pick up the stuff what needs to be put in the coolers. We have always had a car so drive to the new resort and leave the groceries with the bell staff if the room is not ready and leave the luggage in the car until we can get in the room. If we are checking into BCV we have usually planned to spend the day at SAB anyway so it really doesn't disrupt the vacation that much.
